Chapter 62: Hermione's Speculation
This farce of the dueling club ended with Harry's amazing performance.
Lockhart immediately recovered from embarrassment and frustration after Maca stepped down. I have to say that his face is really not ordinarily thick.
"Okay, you can see it!" He staggered back onto the stage and said, "It's a disarming spell—as you can see, I've lost my wand—ah, thank you, Miss Brown. ”
He took his wand, then cleared his throat and continued, "Yes, Maca. What a great idea to show everyone this trick! But don't mind if I say that, your intention is obvious. If I want to stop you, I don't have to do anything. I think it would be better for them to see ...... in order to increase their knowledge."
Snape stared fiercely at Lockhart from the audience.
Maca doesn't care, just let him say it, anyway, the rest of the matter has nothing to do with him.
Not long afterward, Lockhart had the students start working in teams.
But it didn't take long for the scene to seem a little uncontrollable......
"Oh my God, my God!" Lockhart said, jumping around the crowd and watching the aftermath of the duel, "You stand up, Ernie...... Watch out, Miss Fawcett...... Pinch it hard, and the bleeding will stop in no time, Bout-"
In order to put an end to this farce, Lockhart had to put an end to this failed attempt.
"I think I'd better teach you some 'how to stop unfriendly magic.'"
It was just too chaotic.
After Lockhart's "talk", the scene eventually turned into a one-on-one demonstration again – with him and Snape on the sidelines for guidance.
And the first pair of candidates are Malfoy and Harry.
"Alright, Harry," Lockhart said, "you do it when Draco points his wand at you. ”
He raised his wand and swung it from side to side, trying to conjure up a complicated pattern, but accidentally dropped it on the ground, and Snape sneered.
Lockhart hurriedly bent down and picked up his wand.
"Ugh - my wand is a little overexcited."
Snape approached Malfoy, bowed his head and whispered to him, and Malfoy sneered.
"Professor, can you show me another way to stop spells?" Harry looked up nervously at Lockhart.
"Scared?" Malfoy lowered his voice to keep Lockhart from hearing.
"You dream!" Harry came and went through the words from the corners of his mouth.
Lockhart happily patted Harry on the shoulder and smiled, "Just do what I did, Harry!" ”
"What to do, drop your wand on the ground?" Harry couldn't help but complain, but Lockhart apparently automatically filtered out Harry's words.
As Lockhart began to count down, Harry had to raise his wand and concentrate as much as he could.
“…… Begin! ”
Malfoy quickly raised his wand and roared, "Oolong out of the hole!" ”
With the tip of his wand exploding, a long black snake suddenly burst out of it and landed heavily on the floor between them.
There was a slight black gas between the scales of the black snake, the snake's mouth was slightly open, and its fangs were sharp. It was facing Harry, its head held high, and it looked clearly ready to attack.
The crowd screamed, quickly dodging backwards, making way for the clearing.
Maca took a few steps back, hiding in the panicked crowd, silent.
"Don't move, Potter." Snape said lazily.
Apparently, he was pleased to see Harry standing motionless, staring at the angry snake.
"I'll get him away—" "Let me come!" ”
Lockhart snatched Snape's head and shook his wand at the Black Snake.
Suddenly, with a loud bang, the snake not only did not disappear, but jumped up more than a foot high and fell heavily back to the floor.
It was furious, hissing and spitting out the letter and swimming straight towards its nearest Justin Fenrieri. Then, it raised its head and bared its fangs, as if it was about to attack in the next second.
Harry didn't understand why he did it, he didn't even realize he had decided to do it. All he knew was that his legs moved forward of their own accord, as if he were stepping on small casters, and then he stupidly shouted at the snake, "Get out of him!" ”
As soon as Harry finished speaking, the snake collapsed on the floor, supple as a pile of thick, black plastic hoses, its eyes fixed on Harry.
"Success?" Harry looked at the black snake in surprise.
He then looked up at Justin and grinned.
Harry had expected to see Justin's face look relaxed, confused, or grateful—not the anger and horror it was now.
"What do you think you're playing!" Justin shouted.
Before Harry could speak, he turned and rushed out of the Great Hall.
With a wave of his wand, Snape eliminated the Black Snake. He looked at Harry with a meaningful expression. Around Harry, there was the whispering of the students to each other—which made him feel even worse.
"What the hell is going on?" Harry looked around suspiciously.
Just then, Harry felt someone tugging at his clothes.
"Let's go!" Hermione walked over to Harry and whispered.
But when they turned around and tried to call Ron, they found that he had already left at some point.
When Harry and Hermione hurried back to the Gryffindor common room, it was a long time before they saw Ron walk through the doorway.
"Ron, where have you been again?" Hermione asked.
Harry, on the other hand, sat in the armchair next to him, his head slightly bowed, as if he was thinking about something.
"I'll go—" Ron looked at Hermione, a tangle on his face, and then took another breath, as if he had made a decision.
“…… I'm going to find Maca. He finally got the word out.
"Looking for Maca again? What the hell—" Hermione was saying, but was interrupted by Ron in a hurry.
"Hermione, Harry...... Listen to me. Ron walked over to them and lowered his voice, "Remember the day I saw Filch's cat hanging on the wall?" ”
"Oh, of course...... But what's wrong? Hermione asked curiously.
Harry looked up at the words, waiting for Ron to continue.
"At that time, while you were looking at the cat, I saw a man around the corner behind me!" Ron looked left and right to make sure no one was paying attention, and then he said word by word, "Although I only saw the back of the man leaving, I'm sure it's Maka!" ”
"Maca's robe is so distinctive, wide and big, I can't be mistaken."
"You mean to ...... Did Maca do it? Harry was incredulous.
"Nope! That's impossible! Hermione glared at Ron and said resolutely, "He can't be the heir to the Chamber of Secrets!" ”
Perhaps Hermione's voice was too high, and the second half of her sentence caught the attention of many people, and everyone turned to stare at Harry.
"Oh, I'm sorry!" Hermione came to her senses and apologized to Harry.
"No, nothing...... It's just ......" Harry shook his head, but his expression was a little dark—he'd been concerned about it since he got back from the hall.
Ron couldn't help but feel a suffocation in his chest when he saw Hermione's disbelief.
"You...... Why don't you believe it! Didn't you see that the last time Harry played! Ron yelled, "And, since the beginning of this semester, Maca has been very wrong!" ”
"That doesn't prove anything!" Hermione immediately exploded, and she couldn't control it and yelled back, "I think Maca was controlled by Voldemort—"
She immediately realized that something was wrong and took the words back.
"Be quiet, Ron!" Hermione whispered, "Do you want everyone to know?" ”
Ron turned around and saw that many of his classmates were looking at him in horror, apparently frightened by Hermione's word "Voldemort".
"Not because you ......," Ron muttered under his breath.
"That...... Hermione, you just said ...... What happened to Maca to Voldemort? Harry asked hurriedly.
“…… I'm not sure yet," she said with a complicated expression, "but I think Maca has been going on since the end of last semester. ”
"You should know that when Maca came back, I was the first to see him. As I told you before, it was Voldemort who possessed Quirrell and instigated Quirrell to steal the Philosopher's Stone. ”
Both Harry and Ron nodded.
"What happened to Voldemort in the end, only Maca and Professor Dumbledore know, but—"
As Hermione spoke, she recalled the look on Maca's face again, and she couldn't help but purse her lips with an indescribable expression on her face.
But when Maca came back, he looked very ...... Odd. Hermione found it hard to put into words, "I think Voldemort may have escaped." ”
"Oh-" Ron and Harry glanced at each other, both with a look of consternation on their faces.
"Looking at Maca's state this semester, I think it's possible that he's been ...... by some kind of dark magic," Hermione said more and more that this speculation made sense, "It's really possible!" You know, Dumbledore was there at the time! When he returned, he didn't take Quirrell, let alone Voldemort......"
"If it hadn't been for ......," she said, her eyes down and a little frustrated, "if it hadn't been for Maca trying to save me—"
In other words, Maca snatched back the Philosopher's Stone, but perhaps she was also ambushed...... Mystery Man's Dark Magic ......" Ron, who had heard enough of Voldemort's terrifying lore since he was a child, didn't even dare to mention his name.
Harry, on the other hand, was stunned again.
Instead of being drawn to Voldemort, his attention was brought back to some memories by the word "dark magic".
"Ron, Hermione," Harry thought for a moment, "and I thought maybe we could go and see for ourselves." ”
