It just so happened that the next few months were relatively leisurely, and the summer time was not too busy, but now all aspects are normal, and the time to go to the sea is more free.

Bows and arrows, bows and arrows are indispensable, and arrows are better to solve, after all, the most troublesome arrows are already there, but the problem of bows is more difficult to deal with, and the shortest time to make a good bow is a few months.

In particular, the processing of materials is very troublesome with traditional processes, and it will not take long to scrap without fine treatment, and even modern machine processing is complicated.

In addition, the best wood for making a bow is yew wood, which is not only hard, but also full of elasticity, which is the best material for making traditional wooden bows, but unfortunately it does not exist on the island, and I have never heard of it, even in front of me.

It can only be replaced by other varieties, and the only materials that can make bows are none other than those kinds, and it seems that there is only one kind of oak that exists on the island that I know, but that's enough!

There are not many of them on Oak Tree Island, only one or two dozen have been found in my memory, and I can barely remember most of the locations, but the first thing I looked for was the oak trees that had been blown off by the typhoon.

After searching in the woods for more than half an hour, I found two blown oak trees, which is not because its material is not good, but because the typhoon is too energetic, and at the same time it is not in a good position!

I chose one of the two trees that was blown off during a strong typhoon last year, and the color looks better and the straightness of the tree is more suitable.

The tree is about 20 centimeters in diameter, and I took three meters of it and carried it back home, which is more than enough to make a bow, and ten of them are enough.

Collecting so much is because I am worried about scrapping in the process of production, and secondly, I am also storing more at home in case of emergency.

After sawing three meters of wood into two sections of the same length, I cut one of them in half with a saw in the middle, and then sawed it again, two for life, and two for four, until the last time I got two long wooden squares of the same diameter suitable for making bows.

At this time, the diameter is about five or six centimeters, and it is also an irregular shape, and it still needs continuous shaping and fine polishing, in short, it cannot be completed in a while.

It should be noted that there must be no oil knots in the middle of the wood, and the texture should be as uniform as possible, but the material of this tree is still qualified.

The next step is to trim the shape, there is no better way to do this step, you can only use the axe to cut it out little by little, and the result is that the first one is scrapped due to lack of experience.

Because the consciousness is too demanding to be similar to the flatness of the bow body in the TV series, it is cut to a thickness of only one centimeter, and the strength is not strong enough to break when you pull it hard.

It took a day to make a scrap product that made people sigh, but at the same time, I gained a lot of experience, at least the production speed of the second one has improved significantly, and it is more presentable.

In the afternoon of the next day, the body of the second bow was completed, the whole bow was 1.5 meters long, about 4 centimeters wide in the middle, slightly narrowed to 3 centimeters at the ends, and about 2 centimeters thick.

Basically keep the shape of the middle thick and the two ends slightly thinner, the bow body feels pretty good after molding, and there is no obvious feeling of piercing the hand after careful trimming, but it is still a straight wood, which is far from practical.

The next step is to bend the log, the easiest way to do this is to tie the ends with rope and tighten it to a curved shape, which will be set in a few days.

But I found that the current bow is so hard that I can't pull it to the point of obvious bending, so I can only settle for the next best thing, put it on the stone, and then press the stone with both ends in the air, and bend it directly!

This step is more troublesome, it is impossible to bend to the extent I want at one time, I can only divide it into two or three times, each time the amplitude is different, while bending it, I am continuing to saw the wood, and the two newly sawed ones are also directly pressed.

I'm worried that one will fail again in the end!

It takes less than three to five days to shape the wood of the bow, and in the meantime I am going to make some arrow shafts, which are also very troublesome, and if there is bamboo on the island, it is best to make them directly.

Not only is it very hard, but it is also straight, and most importantly, it is good for mass production, but unfortunately......

After burning a lot of my brain cells and experimenting with it, I decided to make it with branches, this time from an unnamed tree with relatively straight branches and decent hardness.

In order to get this kind of branch, my first thought was to climb the tree, but after not climbing it for a long time, I simply cut down the tree together, so that I only need to slowly select the right branch on the ground, simple and rude!

I chose the size I chose as much as possible for the thickness of my fingers, the length was more than one meter, and the diameter of the tree after peeling off the bark was seven or eight millimeters, and a few even reached one centimeter.

I feel that the hardness in my hand is not bad, and even if the hardness of the chopsticks is not up to the hardness after drying, it is quite close, and I am very satisfied!

The peeled branches are not in a hurry to polish and trim, but they are dried in the sun, and when they are six or seven dry, they are pressed to the flat stone slab and become straight.

On the other side I rushed into the chicken pen, and at this time I needed to borrow something from them, an essential thing on the shaft of the arrow--- the arrow feather.

That is, the feathers on the tail of the arrow, which mainly play the role of balancing and maintaining direction in the flight of the arrow, which requires the tail feathers of the chicken!

There was a flurry of chickens and dogs jumping in the chicken pen, and I managed to harvest a handful of chicken tail feathers, but after happily selecting and reshaping them, I was quite disappointed that I could only make ten arrows, which was far less than I expected......

But if you think about it, ten arrows are enough for hunting, after all, if it goes well, it can be recovered.

A day later, the straightened branches were all trimmed and unified to a length of eighty centimeters, which was set at eighty centimeters in consideration of the length of the bow and the fact that the arrows were longer and more comfortable.

Finally, the chicken feathers are added to the tail and the arrows are installed, both of which require very careful operation, which leads to a long production time, and can only be made into three or four arrows in a day.

However, after making all ten arrows in three days, the bow was almost bent, and the last step was to wind it!

If you want to penetrate the crocodile's thick clothing, which is comparable to inferior body armor, the material of the bowstring is as important as the bow, and the thick nylon rope is used at the end of several escapes.

The diameter has reached three or four millimeters, and the main reason for using such a thick bowstring is that the tensile force of the bow is very large, and secondly, I am also worried about breaking and hurting myself during use!

This is a very serious question, no joke at all, dozens of kilograms of strength can be shot back, the lightest can swell your face, if the tail of the arrow bounces to the face, the light will be smashed, and the heavy will be blind!

So I took the trouble to check the nylon rope over and over again, for fear that there would be a problem that I didn't notice!

At this time, the bow and arrow will be ready to use, but there are still two final hurdles to pass before the official hunt, and only those who are qualified can go to the battlefield.

The first level is, of course, a bow test, and it's a bit too early to test out its performance.

First of all, I pulled it away directly, and did not use the arrow, with the continuous force of the bow body is also slowly bending, when I pull to two-thirds of the full bow can not be pulled can not move, pull to the full bow is bounced back instantly, it can be seen that the strength is not small!

The efforts of the past few days have been successful, this is a strong bow, if converted to modern bow and arrow pounds, it should be more than one hundred and twenty pounds.

It is enough to show that oak is indeed an excellent material for making bows, and with such a bow, the crocodile will fall to my arrows without any suspense!

However, there was also a problem at this time, this bow and arrow was so hard that it could strain my arm with a few pulls, so I had to lower its thick bottom to 1.5 centimeters.

At this time, it is much easier to use, gritting your teeth can at least pull to the extent of a full bow and stabilize it for two or three seconds, and it is estimated that the pulling force is still above eighty pounds, although the initial strength is more lethal, but now the strength is more suitable for me!

Sometimes a better one doesn't always work for you, and it's overkill to give me a bazooka to hunt crocodiles.

Even so, compared to the 40 or 50 pound bows that are common in modern times, it is extremely laborious, and the sweat comes out after a few seconds of holding the bow full, and the arms are sore after pulling the bow twenty times a day, especially when you get up the next day.

The second level is to practice archery, no matter how well the bow is done, if you can't shoot it, it's useless, after all, its purpose is to make the arrow only hit the target and cause damage!

It is not necessary to take the enemy's head from a distance of several hundred meters, but to say that it is necessary to ensure that it can shoot at a target with a diameter of one meter within 30 or 50 meters, otherwise the work ahead will only be in vain.

So I have been practicing archery for the rest of the time, pain and happiness, after the first three or five days of adaptation, pull a full bow twenty times a day and the arm will not be sore, but more than the same result, even strain the muscles!
