Volume 1 Chapter 19 Grass Shed
But in the end, I gave up, there were more and more important things to do, and I couldn't always waste my time looking for ingredients.
In the current situation, although finding ingredients is a big part of the content, all other work needs to be carried out simultaneously!
The first is to prepare to spend a day cutting down the last three large trees in the clearing, whether they are there to grow crops or for the activity space
There are many inconveniences.
I am also worried that when various crops grow in the field in the future, the typhoon will break them and smash them into the ground.
I can't afford to lose that, and they stunt the growth of the crops!
The method of cutting down trees is very simple and crude, just cut from the stump with a stone axe, and then remove the branches one by one.
Finally, slowly pushing the entire head-to-toe long trunk to the side of the clearing, it is really individual labor, and the difficulty is unimaginable.
Cutting down a tree is extremely laborious, it takes almost two or three hours to cut down, but clearing the branches is very simple.
The other is the trunk of the tree, the long trunk is completely pushed by hand and almost does not move, and the back is still pushed and prying with thick wooden sticks before it is finally piled up to the side of the clearing.
This method is the most physically demanding, but it is also the fastest, and there is no need to cut the long trunk into many pieces without having to make a second effort.
Saving effort is one aspect, and the lifespan of stone axes is also quite limited, so it is certainly better to minimize the probability of loss.
The second tree was already broken when it was cut down, and the second one, although it was not scrapped after the last tree was cut down, was basically unusable!
It took a lot quicker to cut down the three trees than expected, as the density of the material was smaller than the others, and it took almost an hour to cut down.
From breakfast in the morning to five or six o'clock in the afternoon, all the cleaning was completed, although the whole person was tired enough, but the results were also very significant.
Now the open space outside is very pleasing to the eye, not only refreshing, but also a sense of freshness rising in the heart.
After the three henchmen were disposed of, the whole area looked empty, and in some places you could see the sea through the cracks in the trees next to it.
If there is no shade from the trees outside, it is really a great pleasure to build a house with a sea view here and watch the scenery of the sea every day.
In the next few days, I plan to build a shed next to the mountain wall on the side of the cave, so that I don't have to cook and rest in the sun.
It can completely solve the problem of having to eat cold food in a cave on a rainy day!
At first, even if I was troubled by oil smoke in the cave, I could at least cook, but now I can't cook anymore with the addition of the exterior wall.
If it rains continuously, I can only go hungry, otherwise I have to tear down the exterior wall and cook, neither of which is the result I want.
So after a period of thinking and torture, I made up my mind to get out of this predicament and build a grass shed to expand the activity area to improve!
......
The first thing to do before the official start of construction is to prepare all kinds of materials needed, and there are a lot of simple grass sheds.
These include timber of various sizes, ropes for fixing, large leaves for roofing, simple stairs for roofing, and the modification of the site of the planned hut to level.
The rope used for fixing is a long rope that is cut about ten meters on it and then split into many strands and cut into a length of half a meter to one meter.
The staircase was made of two arm-thick tree trunks about three meters long, and together with the collection of wood and leaves, it was almost impossible to cope with it for two days.
And these materials also indicate that the finished product of the grass shed will not be too good, and it is estimated that it can only be used to shelter from the light rain!
A simple grass hut can be completed in about a day with the help of modern tools, even if it is only one person.
No matter how simple it is, only the axe can compress the construction time to less than one and a half to two days.
But counting that today is the third day, and the ground is still leveling and digging a few deep pits for pillars, it can be seen that the slow progress is amazing!
In fact, the easiest way is to sharpen a few pillars directly into the ground, and then you can directly build the roof, but because of the limitations of tools, you can only dig a pit and erect the pillars to achieve the same purpose.
By the time all nine pillars reached the ground, it was already the afternoon of the fourth day, and of course by this time the whole work was about two-thirds complete.
The nine pillars are made of calf-thick trunks, because they climb up and down when they are working on them and picking up materials, and if the pillars are too thin, I am afraid that they will not be able to bear my weight and collapse.
Not to mention the possibility of being injured because of all the previous efforts, it is too insecure to be injured here!
The main function of the cowshed is because in summer and rainy days are too lazy to bring the cattle home, and after having the cowshed, you can enjoy the shade and shelter from the rain in it.
It can be seen that the expectations for it are not too great, and the methods of coping can be seen in all aspects.
Tie some three or four meters long branches horizontally and vertically at equal intervals, and when the top is built, it looks like a grid, and finally spread a large pile of large manure leaves prepared in advance and press some branches on the top to fix it, and a simple grass shed is built!
Although the whole look is frizzy because of the tool, it is not refined at all, but it does not affect its style at all.
In terms of workmanship, it may be very poor, but there is a grass hut here that looks particularly good, like a gazebo in a scenic area......
Life will undoubtedly be much more convenient after having a grass hut, and finally I can hide in a cave without a little rain.
It's just not guaranteed that it will work well in heavy rain, I just hope that there won't be a light rain in the sky and a light rain down there.
No rain leakage in the case of moderate rain and light rain is my biggest appeal to it, and it can be said that the requirements are very low.
It took five days for the huts to be completed, one day longer than expected, and these five days were thanks to the help of taro, and if there was no taro and you would have to face the problem of fishing and building at the same time, the speed would have dropped even more.
Fresh fish was only eaten twice on the first day of work, and only taro and dried fish and a small amount of cassava were eaten.
And after five days of consumption, the cassava is gone, and there are only three or five catties of dried fish left, and they are so poor that they don't have the face to say it!
On the sixth day, in addition to spending an hour or two fishing, I wanted to build a more practical stove in the grass hut.
The existing stove is made up of several stones of similar size, and sometimes one of the stones will be tilted to one side, and the movement will be a little slower and even the contents of the pot will spill on the ground!
Last month, I built an exclusive stove for the canning box, but it didn't take a few days to waste, but I hope that this time I made a stove for a bucket will not happen again.
It is definitely impossible to build a large stove in a rural home, there is no cement and brick materials, and there is no craftsmanship, and the grade of the bucket is not worthy of a special stove!
It was just a few rounds of uniform stones, and the thin mud in the ditch formed a round stove with a thick bottom and a thin top at the top, and a large hole at the top that could just hold the bucket.
At this stage, everything is still based on coping, and it may be far away to be perfect!
In the few days of making the hut, I also spent the 30th day of being on a desert island, and a whole month has passed in a blink of an eye, but I have not seen a single ship or plane, which is very disappointing.
After a month of hardship, a month of starvation, a month of loss and struggle, I have resigned myself to my fate and am ready to stay on the island forever.
Even if I don't want to, it's a divine arrangement that cannot be changed by individuals......
How far I can go in this kind of insecure and lonely life doesn't seem to be a question I want to consider.
It all depends on when a boat can take me away, and I just want to live as long as I can to make it to the boat!
