Chapter 39: Hostage-taking

Gwen Stacy curled up, clutched on her knees on the cold floor, her frightened and helpless emerald green eyes staring at the dead darkness in front of her.

She didn't know how many hours it had been in the dark, but the fear hadn't been numbed with time.

She didn't know where she was or how she got here. The last thing she remembered was that she came out of school after school and squeezed out of the school gate with a group of children. In an instant, she lost control of her body, and her hazy consciousness felt like someone had been brutally thrown into the water. She vaguely remembered as if someone had caught her next to her, and then ...... And then it became what it is now.

A dark, cold, cold room, and that's all she saw when she woke up.

Gwen Stacy was still only a half-grown child, and she was rightfully frightened by what had happened. She wept in the darkness for a long time, knocking the cold iron door. But soon her strength ran out, and her tears dried up, so she had to give up the useless struggle.

Now she just sat quietly in the dark, blinking her big pretty eyes blankly, thinking about a future full of darkness and unknowns.

Although she is too young to know anything about the malice that pervades the world, she also knows a little ignorant that she may never return home and see her parents in the future.

The thought of this part made her scared.

Unbeknownst to little Gwen, she had been missing for more than seven hours, and her family was already in a state of madness. She didn't even know that her father had done everything to find her, and that the whole city outside was about to be overturned by him.

What she wouldn't know was that her savior was actually close at hand.

There was a strange noise outside the swarthy door. Gwen froze for a moment and blinked. She saw the door creak outward, and a white light pierced through the crack. A few seconds later, the heavy iron door fell off the frame of the door, twisted into a crumpled iron plate, and was rudely tossed aside.

The sudden white light piercing into the darkness made her unable to open her eyes for a while. When she adjusted to the light, she noticed a strange man in a white uniform crouching in front of her. The man was dressed in a white bodysuit, with a hood and a face mask with two large eyes that Gwen felt a little kind.

"Don't be afraid." The man stretched out his hand, and his voice was crisp and pleasant, and it sounded like a female voice, and it didn't sound too old from the sound of his voice.

"I'm here to get you out." She said.

It was a dark and eerie environment, and the only light came from the street lights peeping through the dusty windows, and it was reasonable that a mysterious guy with a masked face in such a scene would be very unsettling, but little Gwen felt that this person was very kind for no reason.

A child's thinking is always simple, without too much defense and not too much suspicion. Gwen had a gut feeling that this should be a good person, so she slowly reached out and grabbed the palm of the other party's white gloves.

The girl in white grabbed little Gwen's hand and was about to lead her out, when suddenly she moved, her eyes on her mask shrank, and she kicked out reflexively without warning. Her kick was swift and vicious, and she happened to kick a figure in the darkness who was raising a knife and preparing to sneak attack. The man was kicked on his back and flew out, and he rolled on the ground in several circles until he hit the dirty base of the wall.

It was a guy dressed like an Oriental ninja, with a red scabbard stuck in his back and a silver blade in his hand, reflecting the cold white glow in the light outside the window.

If the girl in white reacted a little slower by half a second just now, I am afraid that she would have been stabbed by this knife at this time.

But she doesn't take it lightly, because it's far from over.

There was no sound, but dark shadows emerged from the shadows around them. They were all dressed exactly like the guy who had just been kicked and stunned, dressed in ninja outfits and with long knives stuck in their backs, like mass-produced soldiers carved out of a mold in an RPG.

Such a large number of ninjas lay in ambush and did not move at all, as if all of them did not need to breathe, had no heartbeat, and walked like cats without sound.

It's the Hand Club, and these are all Hand Ninjas.

Little Gwen felt that she could hear her little heart pounding, and she subconsciously clenched the hand of the white-clothed sister beside her, as if it was the only thing in the world that could make her feel safe.

"Don't get too far away from me." The girl in white whispered to her.

Little Gwen nodded obediently.

All the ninjas moved at the same time, as if the remote-controlled machine had received a command input at the same time, and the movements were so neat that they were almost dreamlike.

The girl in white held her breath and cautiously stared at the direction of the opponent's attack. Her head tilted slightly, dodging the long knife handed by one of the ninjas who had first contact, and then flew up with her left foot, turning into a blurry white afterimage and kicking the opponent's jaw. She's got a lot of speed on her legs and she's got amazing kicks. The ninja kicked her solidly, and her whole body flew into the air and rolled several times in the air before falling back and fainting.

The formation of the ninjas quickly unfolded, and the positions were staggered and orderly surrounding her in the middle, and the flickering sword light seemed to weave into a huge net, impenetrable.

Although the girl in white did not know the art of swordsmanship, she had a fast reaction speed and strong physical ability, and her body was flexible enough to perform all kinds of movements that should be impossible for humans. In addition, she can constantly shoot sticky and strange nets and silk threads in her hands, and the ninjas will become entangled in them and be tied in place without being able to move even half a step.

The afterimage of the girl in white flew, like a slippery carp, the two sides fought for more than three minutes, and the ninjas had fallen several people, but they didn't even touch the corner of her clothes. This was under the premise that the girl had to be distracted to take care of little Gwen, otherwise the group of ninjas would have been wiped out in front of her in less than a minute.

However, this group of ninjas has been fighting for a long time, and they have begun to change their thinking. This group of guys didn't care about their face at all, let alone the so-called bushido spirit, and when they saw the girl in white, they began to use their knives to greet little Gwen who was being protected by her.

Little Gwen was so frightened that she kept exclaiming. Whenever someone slashed her, the girl in white had to turn around to save her, and the situation suddenly became quite passive.

Until there was a loud "bang" sound in the space, and the door panel of the room was hit hard from the outside, flying straight towards the field like a hidden weapon. The girl in white was quick with her eyes and hands, and she grabbed little Gwen and jumped back to avoid it. The ninjas also hurriedly put away their knives and jumped away from the past.

The door was violently kicked open, and Jessica Jones stood swaggering in the doorway rubbing her fists.

Yes, the boss did tell her not to get herself into any trouble.

But whatever.

She just wanted to find a few bastards and beat her up right now.
