Volume 1 Chapter 68 The Kitchen

After a hurried breakfast, I started to patrol the island for a while, this time the wind was not strong, but there was a lot of garbage scattered on the beach.

It was not easy to pick up and burn the garbage that had been picked up and piled up in small piles, and it took six or seven hours to get home after the original four-hour trip.

It's a pity that the harvest is not big, except for a few plastic bottles, it is worth mentioning that a pair of fishing nets were picked up.

The mesh of this fishing net is much smaller than that of a large fish, and it can only pass through two fingers.

The length of the net is more than two hundred meters long, and the depth is close to three meters, and pulling me ashore from the sea will exhaust me enough, if I am not driven by greed, I may have given up directly!

There are still some stinky fish hanging on the Internet, and the smell reminds me of the smell of the fishing boat, and I let out a burst of retching, which is really a serious psychological shadow!

The net was not taken back, and the stench and the weight of the soaked net prevented the urge to take it home.

I didn't care about it when I took it to the beach, and when the stinky fish on it dried up and didn't smell, it would be the same after a few days, it was mine after all, and no one could take it away!

I haven't figured out what it's used for, of course the more tools the better, I'll be sure to put it away first, although it's surprisingly tattered, and it may be useless to use it for fishing, and I'm thinking about making a fence is good!

......

As we enter April, the bricks of the fourth kiln will be ready for firing in two days, but before that can be done by preparing the wood needed for the top of the kitchen.

In the past, when a strong typhoon came, the house collapsed, and a small part of it was broken and deformed, and some of it was not very qualified.

So after building the first room and toilet, after selecting all the available ones, this large pile could only be used to make fires or fences.

After three days, the timber was basically in place, and the kiln work could begin.

The number of this kiln is relatively small, the number of tiles is not even 1,000, and there may be a situation of dissatisfaction, but only a small part of the toilet was used in the previous kiln, and most of the remaining kiln is more than enough to build a kitchen.

Unfortunately, this time it was quite unsmooth, and the early stage of the kiln was relatively smooth, but it rained after a day and a half of firing.

I could only throw a few large bundles of wet branches on the top of the kiln to protect myself from the rain, and on the other side I wore a hat to speed up the fire, and I could not stop the process of firing, just like the truth that there is no turning back arrow when I open a bow.

The rain has always been expected by me, and every time I check the situation in the sky before loading the kiln, I hope to keep it sunny during the process, but I also know that I can walk by the river without getting my shoes wet, and this situation still happens!

Fortunately, this rain can only be regarded as light to moderate rain, if it is a heavy rain level, maybe I have not yet reacted to the rain poured directly into the kiln, then the kiln is basically scrapped!

After the fire burned for three or four hours, the rain gradually increased, and while I was very angry, I had to stop the practice of continuing to burn the fire and start sealing the kiln, and it was still the top of the seal first, and if I didn't seal it, it would be all soaked.

The outcome of the rain is still unknown, but it made me very embarrassed, and I worked for four or five hours until I couldn't even straighten my waist, and my whole body was dirty with mud and dirt from the branches.

I simply took off my clothes and took a shower in the rain, the weather in April was still relatively sour, but I was busy in the rain for a few hours, soaked in the rain, not to mention sweating, so I was not afraid of so much.

......

The rain fell for two days, and at noon on the third day, as soon as the rain stopped, I couldn't wait to open the cooled brick kiln, the original two-day cooling time this time was less than a day and a half to completely cool, my hunch is not too good!

There were still small puddles of water in the mud at the top, and I shoveled them all to the side, and I began to check the situation in the kiln.

Two hundred of the three hundred tiles on the top layer were scrapped directly, and one hundred were not ripe, and the second layer was much better, and about 100 were not ripe, but this was not scrapped.

The lower the situation, the better, although the middle and upper bricks have the meaning of a fire, but it does not affect the use, I am relieved to see this, the loss is acceptable, much smaller than I expected!

Construction begins when the ground is no longer muddy after the rain has passed, but there is still a lot of preparatory work that must be completed before it begins, first of all, to determine the location, and before that, it is necessary to sprinkle grass and wood ash to vacate the place of the second room.

In order to save trouble and time, the kitchen and the second room will share a wall, at this time to determine the location to facilitate the direct use of the future, reckless I will directly build the kitchen next to the first room.

The speed of bricklaying is very fast, about 60 or 70 centimeters above the ground in one day, and this speed can be completed in only about five days.

The size of the kitchen is two circles smaller than that of the large room, about three meters in length and two meters five in width, and the size may be slightly larger than the kitchen of the previous wooden house, which should be enough for a long time to come.

Of course, the bigger the better, who doesn't like a house with a very large area, but considering the difficulty of making bricks and building, if it weren't for the idea of storing more firewood inside, I might have reduced this size by half a meter each!

When the wood on the roof was two-thirds nailed, a big trouble appeared in front of me, and the iron nails were used up, which made me a little numb.

In the end, the iron nails had to be abandoned and replaced with thickened ropes, and the safety of the tiled house was much better, and it was difficult to overturn it completely after its weight was pressed on the beams.

Although I took care of the problems in the previous room, I finally gave up the idea of smelting iron nails, which was very time-consuming.

The last thing is the eaves of the roof, there are eaves in the front and back of the large room, but considering that the kitchen is on the outermost side, it is the first to withstand the wind every time a strong wind comes, and the eaves are directly canceled by me.

At this time, I found that because the tiles around the top did not completely cover the wall, every time it rained, the rain would not only wet the outer wall, but also flow into the house along the gap at the top.

At this time, I don't have to worry about the main body of the kitchen anymore, and I only need to do some finishing work to put it into use, and the long-awaited kitchen is finally coming......

There were many drawbacks in the previous kitchen, which made me always complain in the process of using it, and this time I will also make targeted improvements.

First of all, there was the problem of drainage, two meters next to the toilet drain, I dug a ditch 20 centimeters deep and 15 centimeters wide.

The reason why I didn't have a connection to the toilet drain was because I was worried that the toilet would be dirty and poured in, so I could smell it in the kitchen, and a lot of wastewater was also flushed into the sewage tank at the end, washing away the limited feces, which was also fertilizer.

In addition, it is to use the remaining bricks to build a sink similar to the kitchen at home in the appropriate position of the house, so that it will be more convenient to wash vegetables and pour water.

Then there is the floor tiling, the kitchen uses a lot of water, and often a careless sprinkling of water to wet the floor, laying a layer of bricks These problems will be solved, and I also consciously want to make every room paved with a layer of bricks.

The next thing is to make the kitchen stove, which is what I have always wanted, I have been using a simple stove for several months, and the reason why I haven't built it in the open air is that it will be washed away by the rain as soon as the heavy rain comes, and now I finally don't have this concern!

It's just that at this time, there is a relatively big problem, there are not many cooked bricks, and after the kitchen floor is laid, there are only about 100 left, which is far from enough, at least 300 to complete.

Later, I thought that the forty or fifty centimeters and periphery of the stove from the ground could be replaced by unburned bricks and previous scrapped bricks, so that the problem was much simpler.

......

The final stove is rectangular, about one meter long, fifty centimeters wide, one meter high, one front and one back two holes.

Among them, there is a wok in the front and a clay pot in the back, so that you can usually fry vegetables in the front, and the clay pot in the back can boil water or stew things, which is enough for my current living standard!

I moved the only table into the kitchen, which can be used for chopping vegetables while cooking, and can also be served directly in the kitchen when eating, so that it is not brought over.

In addition, various tools such as large water tanks and kitchen knives, as well as clay pots and clay pots, were all moved from the single room to the kitchen.

All of a sudden, the large room in which I slept became empty, and a few of the things that took up the most space were removed, and now all that was left in the room was a large vat of corn and a few clay pots, in which I could almost dance......

Although the room seemed empty for a while, I was extremely happy that I finally regained the feeling I had before the typhoon, and I no longer had to live as crowded as I had in the past few months!

It's just that the kitchen still doesn't feel very safe, and it is independent of the outside because of the reserved location of the second room between it and the first room.

If you encounter a super typhoon like the last time, it will still make people sweat, but this situation will not wait too long, and after a while to fire the bricks and tiles of the two kilns and build the second room, you can connect them together!

Now that we have a house and the kitchen is officially completed, the living conditions have finally taken on a certain shape, at least the pressure on the living state is not as great as before.

There are the most basic guarantees in terms of food and housing, and there is no need to pay attention to the clothes on the island, so you don't have to be so tired anymore......

The construction of the second room is not so urgent for the time being, and with a large room and kitchen and toilet, it is already able to meet daily needs.

The construction of the second room is mainly for the purpose of reserving space with the continuous improvement of living standards in the future, but it should also be completed and put into use within this year, which is already planned!
