Chapter 5: A Wand That Brings Luck
"Are you buying a Hogwarts uniform, my dear?" As soon as he walked into the tailor's shop, a short and fat witch greeted Albert with a smile on her face.
"Yes, ma'am. Albert nodded, "I'm sorry for you." ”
"Really polite young man, come on, I'll help you measure the specific parameters. Mrs. Morkin's fingers, tape measure, pins, and scissors all flew in this direction, and began to automatically measure Albert's size, and Herb was stunned by this scene.
Ordering clothes was a complicated process that took half an hour, and Mrs. Morkin told them to come back and pick up the package after shopping.
"Ma'am, in addition to those school-prescribed clothes, I would like to order a black peaked hat and a plain black cape for my body type, but without a name tag. By the way, please pack it separately. Albert said to Mrs. Morkin after straightening up his somewhat messy clothes.
"A black peaked hat and an ordinary cape?" said Mrs. Morkin, looking at Herb suspiciously, and repeated Albert's words.
"Yes. Herb nodded, knowing it was a gift for Nia.
"Okay. Mrs. Morkin did not give much thought to the strange request, and nodded her head to indicate that she understood.
After paying a sum of Galleons in advance, the two of them left Madame Morkin's robes store, and they went to the Wizeek magic supply shop not far away, where they bought the brass scales, brass binoculars, and glass vials on the list.
In fact, Albert simply handed the list to Wizeek, saying that he needed to buy it.
It cost a total of 13 Galleons, and in addition, Albert bought an additional hourglass for 2 Galleons.
With Wizeek's enthusiastic introduction, Albert easily found the Patch Crucible shop, where he purchased a pewter crucible for 15 Galleons.
Through the shopkeeper Patchy, they found a pharmacy where they could replenish the herbs they would use in Potions class.
The pharmacy is definitely not a pleasant place, as soon as you approach it you can ask for a disgusting smell, as if specially prepared to drive away guests.
There are a lot of quirky things in the drugstore, and there are jars of herbs, hay roots, and brightly colored powders on the cabinets.
Bundles of feathers, strings of fangs, and fluffy claws also hang from the ceiling.
Oh my God, how the hell can a wizard boil these things into potions and drink them?
Herb didn't dare to think anymore because he saw a can of slugs with a price tag of 1 Galleon.
It's disgusting.
This kid's dad is already a little skeptical about life.
Perhaps, it really wasn't a wise move to let your son into that Hogwarts.
In addition to the potions, Albert also purchased some of the tools he would use to prepare potions.
After paying, he pulled Herb with a complicated face and left the pharmacy.
"Albert, give up. After pulling Albert away from the pharmacy, Herb said with a straight face, "Let's go to Eton College." ”
Albert's cheeks twitched and he shook his head.
"Yes...... The more I thought about it, the more unreliable I felt, maybe Daisy was right. Herb looked at his son with a complicated expression.
"We're still missing some books, and we need a wand and an owl. Albert looked at Herb and said, "At the very least, don't jump to conclusions until you know about the wizarding world. ”
"Okay. Herb was a little depressed, but nodded in agreement.
The books on the list were purchased at the Blotted Bookstore, and Albert bought additional books on the history of the wizarding world.
Actually, Albert wanted to stay in the bookstore for a while, but for the sake of time, he gave up and asked the bookstore manager to get a list of books so that he could order the books he needed through the owl in the future.
Then, at the Diagon Alley stationery shop next to the Quidditch boutique, he bought a large amount of parchment, quills and ink.
With the enthusiastic help of the owner, I found the babbling owl store, which is located on the north side of Diagon Alley, which is easy to find, with a large number of owls hanging outside.
The owl had to be bought, otherwise he would not be able to contact his family.
Herb also helped buy a bag of owl food and owl nuts.
Pushing the trolley, Herb crossed out the purchased items one by one, and all that was left was the wand.
The Ollivanders wand shop is on the south side of Diagon Alley, and they learn the location of the wand shop from the witch who sells owls.
It was a small, run-down store.
When Albert pushed the door in, the shop rang with a tinkling bell, and it was small inside, with nothing but a bench.
When Herb pushed the cart into the store, he felt that it was packed all at once, and he sat on a bench, eating the pumpkin pie he had just bought from the stall, and there were some sweets on the cart, also for Nia.
Albert also had a pumpkin pie in his hand, and he was hungry too.
"Is anyone there, please?"
"Good afternoon. A soft voice rang out, and Ollivander stepped out of it.
"Hello, sir, I want to buy ......," Albert said, putting down the pumpkin pie in his hand.
"Wands, oh of course, Hogwarts freshmen. ”
"Yes sir. ”
"By the way, what's your name. Ollivander probably saw the confusion in Albert's eyes and explained, "Wizards who buy wands from me need to be kept on record by the Ministry of Magic. ”
"Albert Anderson. Eber introduced himself.
"Yes, Mr. Anderson. Ollivander pulled a tape measure out of his pocket, "Which arm do you use?"
"I'm used to using my right hand. Albert lifted his arm up.
Ollivander began to measure Albert, first from his shoulders to his fingertips and then from his wrists to his elbows, a complex process that led both father and son to suspect that Ollivander was not selling wands, but clothes.
"Every wand I make is unique, and wizards can always pick the perfect fit. Ollivander said to himself as he measured, but Albert was already a little suspicious that the tape measure was automatically measuring the distance between his nostrils.
Albert reached out and pushed the ruler away and walked to the counter.
Ollivander had already taken out a wand from the shelf and introduced, "Made of holly wood and phoenix feathers, seven inches, very flexible. ”
As soon as Albert reached out to take it, he was taken by Ollivanders.
"Try this one, made of ash and unicorn hair. Eight and a half inches long. Extraordinary combination, nice bouncy. ”
Albert took it and waved it, but to no avail.
"It doesn't seem to fit. Ollivander said to himself, "Try this ...... again."
Albert tried one wand after another, and sometimes the wand would be extremely destructive, and the vases on the counter were blown up, startling Herb.
"I like fussy guests. Ollivander took another wand and said with a smile, "Made of redwood wood and phoenix feathers, nine inches long, with good elasticity." ”
Albert took the wand and felt a slight warmth in his fingertips, and with a light touch, red sparks glowed from the tip of the wand, like fireworks in the store.
"That's it. Ollivander happily put the wand in the box and said to Albert with a smile, "Legend has it that wands made of redwood bring luck to the user. ”
"Do you believe it?" asked Albert rhetorically.
"I don't believe it, I think wands made of redwoods will appeal to certain wizards who are already capable of saving the day when they are in danger. ”
"So, it's not the redwoods that bring luck, it's its owners who make it famous?" Albert said, raising an eyebrow.
"So to speak. Ollivander nodded, "10 Galleons in total, thank you for your patronage." ”
