Chapter 363: Crowning (Lux Extra)

Laxana was born in Demacia, a closed realm where magic was considered taboo. When magic is mentioned, people are always filled with fear and suspicion. Therefore, she has the power of refraction, and in the process of growing up in childhood, she was always worried about being discovered and banished, and has always forced herself to hide her power in order to maintain the noble status of the family. Still, Lux's optimism and tenacity have taught her to embrace her unique gifts, and now she aims to bring more tolerance and understanding to her homeland.

At dawn, an earthquake struck Tobizia. The earth's crust jumps and rises like a horse running without stopping, cut to pieces by the ravines. Lux rode her colt Starfire to the toppled wall. The thirty-foot-tall walls of sun-whitened stone looked like they had been ravaged by weeks of Noxian siege machines. She carefully guided the horses through the collapsed rocks to a makeshift medical site set up in a blue-and-white market tent.

She had never seen a catastrophe of such devastating power. As a wealthy city, Tobizia's buildings were built of hard granite and Demacian oak. Even so, almost all the buildings were completely destroyed. Dusty men and women dig through the rubble with pickaxes and shovels, hoping to find survivors. But what is often dragged out of the rubble is a corpse. The original streets have been transformed into smoky cracks, which have become new symbols of the city.

She jumped off her horse and lifted the curtain of the tent. Although she is not a doctor, she can do her best to care for the wounded. Lux thought that the scale of the disaster was enough for her to estimate what was going on in the tent.

But she was wrong.

There were thousands of survivors lying on woollen blankets. She heard parents crying over their lost children, and lovers clinging to their dead lovers. The most distressing thing is that the children who have lost their parents have a confused and frightened look on their faces, and they are stunned and overwhelmed. Suddenly, she saw a familiar figure in a bloodstained apron, washing his hands in a tin basin. She strode towards him.

"Dr. Essa, can I do anything about it?" She asked.

He turned, tears welling up in his eyes. He managed to clear the sadness that had enveloped him a little.

"Miss Crownback." Essa bowed slightly.

"Just call me Lux." She said. "Please, what can I do"

The doctor sighed and said, "My lady, you are so kind and blessed, I can't bear to tell you terrible things here." ”

"Tell me all, Essa." She said solemnly, "I'm from Demacia, and we deserve to take care of each other." ”

"As you say, please forgive me." He sighed again wearily. "Your presence will be a great comfort to the wounded."

Esa led her to a young man. He lay on a simple bed deep in the tent. Seeing his hideous wounds, she couldn't help but gasp, his entire body was crushed. His eyes were bandaged and bleeding. From the look on his face, it could be seen that he was enduring great pain. Lux guessed that he was supposed to be a soldier.

"He dug up a family from the collapsed rubble." Esa said. "Then I went looking for other survivors. But as soon as the aftershocks came, a building fell right on top of him. The rubble crushed his lungs, and pieces of glass stuck in his eyes. ”

"How long will he live," Lux asked in a carefully low voice.

"Only God knows. But I'm afraid it won't be too long. He said. If you could keep him company, maybe he would be able to throw himself into the arms of the Veiled Daughter with less pain. ”

She nodded, and sat down next to the dying man. She held his hand and felt like her heart was about to break. Esa smiled gratefully and continued to treat the wounded he could still save.

"It's dark." The man woke up at her touch. "Oh my God, I can't see"

"Steady, soldier. Tell me your name. Lux said.

"Dawson." He replied hoarsely.

"Do you have the same name as that hero of Dornhold?"

"Hmm. Do you know this story, too, and this is an old account between us and those barbarians. ”

"Trust me, I know that." She smiled wryly. "My brother used to mention it a lot when he was a kid. At that time, he asked me to be Frejord's pirate every time, and he himself was Dawson. He was able to defeat the Skinners with his bare hands, and he could defend the entire harbor by himself. ”

"I want to be like him." Said the young man. He had to do everything in his power to breathe. His voice grew weaker, and a string of blood rolled out from under the bandage like red tears. "I want to be worthy of my name."

Lux clasped his increasingly cold hand in both hands.

"You did it. Esa told me about you. You are a true hero of Demacia. ”

Dawson's tense face slackened a little, and his throat rattled. His strength was running out.

"Why can't I see it?"

"Your eyes," she said slowly, "I'm sorry. ”

"What's going on?"

"Dr. Essa said there were shards of glass stuck in it."

The man's breathing became sharp.

"I'm going to die." He said. "I know if I can see the light of Demacia again"

Lux felt the magic stir in her body, and she immediately whispered the spell the Lighter had taught her, suppressing it from coming up. Over the years, she has learned to control her powers better. But sometimes, when her emotions are uncontrollable, the power is ready to kick. She looked around, resting her fingertips on the blood-stained bandage while no one was looking. She channeled her radiant spiritual power through his skull to the still-intact parts of his eyes.

"I can't fix you, but I can at least give you this."

Suddenly, Dawson gripped her hand tightly, and his mouth opened unconsciously. The light of Demacia was flashing in his mind.

"It's beautiful," his voice was almost inaudible.

Demacia is a calm utopia where everything is in order. There is a group of people who will do whatever it takes to maintain this order, and they are the Demon Seekers, hunting down anyone who breaks taboos and uses magic. Laxana's crownguard, also known as "Lux", is destined to be pampered for the rest of her life, but she is hiding a secret that she is hiding. As Lux's magical powers of light begin to manifest, she must decide whether to join her brother Galen as the ruling class of Demacia or wander the margins of society with the oppressed mages.
