Chapter 385: Holy War
Nasus saw a group of five people blocking the exit from the plaza. They turned their backs to him and turned around when they heard him draw his axe. Normally, Nasus would have felt their fear, as there was an Ascendant warrior standing in front of them, but with the blue fire of Zelas's will burning in their eyes, they didn't know what fear was.
They rushed at him with bloody swords and spears. Nasus staggered and slashed his axe at the waist, cutting off three of them. He punched another person in the chest and opened his mouth to bite the last person's head. Nasus's teeth snapped, and the warrior's head cracked.
He walked into the square and saw the remaining inhabitants of the city kneeling in front of the Temple of the Sun, their heads on the ground like pilgrims curled up, only in front of them were the tips of the enemy's swords. Bloodied soldiers raised their spears and stabbed into the sky of the terrifying gods at the top.
The sorcerer who had betrayed the Emperor was on fire, suspended in the air, the edge of the solar disc softening into pulp in the flames of the Ascension. In the air in front of him was the figure of the hapless cleric struggling and screaming.
"Mortals are stupid." Zelath said as he stripped the clergyman's flesh from his skeleton. "Why do you claim to be the useless emperor, the heir of Azr?"
"Zelas" Nasus yelled, his voice echoing through the square.
The samurai turned their heads, but did not move. There was only silence in the square. Nasus felt the hatred of Zelas sweep over like a torrent. The remains of the clergy were reduced to ashes in a heartbeat, blown away by the foehn wind around the witch spirit. Nasus gripped his axe and strode forward. Every pair of eyes was glued to him.
"You don't have to guess to know it's you." Zelas's voice was like honey, the same as when he was a mortal. "What other coward would lock me underground for a thousand years?"
"I'll get you back underground." Nasus assured.
Russ's body burned brighter. "You had your beloved siblings to help you. And now, tell me, have you ever seen Renekton since the doors of our common prison were wide open?"
"Don't mention his name." Nasus growled.
"Do you see what he looks like now?"
Nasus didn't speak, but Zelas burst out laughing, laughing like the screams of fire spirits in battle.
"Of course you didn't." The fire in Zeroth's body lit up with a sinister smile. "He'll kill you as soon as he sees you."
Zelas floated down the shattered temple walls, tongues of fire surging from his limbs, escaping like fireflies. The soldiers still stood still like statues. This showdown wasn't meant for mortals.
"Your power should have belonged to Azir." Nasus walked slowly towards Zelas. "You're not the chosen one by the Sun."
"Neither is Renekton, and he's soared."
"Don't mention his name." Nasus said through gritted teeth.
"Your brother is weak, oh, of course, you should have known it a long time ago." Zelas drifted closer. "He broke down faster than I thought he would. I just told him that you left him in the dark. You trapped him with his enemies and left him to fend for himself. ”
Nasus knew that the Witch wanted to provoke him, but his hatred made him want nothing more than to tear apart the chains on Zeroth, and the terrible power of the Witch survived because of them. They face each other in the heart of the city, two ascended beings who transcend time itself: one is the king of the warriors and the other is the head of the witchcraft.
Nasus made the first move. With just a heartbeat, his figure went from motionless to an unclear afterimage. He leapt into the air with his legs bent, his axe slashing down in a long arc. The blade struck in the chest, and the iron ring of the chain exploded under the force.
Zelas was thrown against the walls of the temple. The stone walls were smashed open, and dust from the underground tombs gushed out through the cracks. Huge stone slabs fell from the top. Zeroth rushed forward, fiery light shooting out of his crackling limbs. The flames burned Nasus, causing him to scream, and the two collided with devastating energy.
A magical shockwave erupted, and the wind swept away the crowd like leaves. The nearest building was also toppled by the shaking of the ground. The Vikoras scattered and fled, trying in vain to survive the fight between the two fighting gods. Zelas's grip dissipated, and his warriors woke up and began fleeing towards the edge of the city. Arcane fire erupted from Zelath's chest, scattering aimlessly.
Nasus rolled to the side, dodging a barrage of dazzling comets. They can burn even though they have a cold flame. He stood up just in time, swinging his axe and unleashing another string of screaming orbs of white light. Zelas floated in front of him, flicking lightning bolts and laughing uncontrollably. Nasus stabbed an axe and unleashed withering power. Zelath was ached and angry, and the flames of his heart were beating, but there was no sign of dimness.
Nasus leapt at Zelas. The two tangled in the air and crashed into the Temple of the Sun. The massive impact destroyed the exterior walls, and the boulder at the top rolled down. They slammed into the ground like the punches of the ancient tomb guards, smashing the floor to reveal the temple's hidden crypt. The solar disc on the roof tumbled and fell like a copper coin thrown by a giant. The disc fell to the ground and burst into sharp shards. One of them went into Nasus's thigh. He pulled out the sharp lump with great force, and shimmering blood flowed down the wound.
Zelath rose from the pile of stones and threw out a scorching white fire that struck Nasus in the chest. He snorted and staggered a few steps back. Zelas unleashed another wave of menacing orbs, this time hitting Nasus's heart. The excruciating pain brought him to his knees, his body covered in wounds. Nasus could single-handedly take down an entire army of mortals, but Zelas was no ordinary enemy. He is an ascendant who has stolen the power of the sun and has mastered the essence of dark magic.
He looked up, and the whole city burned around them. "The person you're looking for isn't here anymore, it's hidden now, and you won't see it at all."
"Azir's last bloodline can't be hidden forever. I will find them and erase this meaningless bloodline forever. ”
Netherspin raised his axe, and the gem on it was cracked with the blows of great force.
"I'm going to fight to the death."
"You'll get your way." Zelas's arm reached behind his back, unleashing dazzling spells again and again. Nasus fought as hard as he could, but he couldn't stop them all.
