Chapter 293: Vastaya (Extra)

The Vastayas are heterozygous creatures in the Runeterra in half-human, half-beast form, descended from early humans who escaped the Void Wars and a certain population of prehistoric magical creatures, mainly concentrated in the Ionian region.

As the stars shifted, a variety of different heterozygous offspring began to multiply in other regions, naturally choosing different forms - apes, birds, and swimming fish.

From the brute powers of Rengar to the foxes of Ahri, the different Vastayas are very different in appearance, but they are bound to take on both animal and human forms, and their biological appearance often symbolizes the strongest traits of their personalities.

In addition to this, the advent of the Vastaya race has led to a systematic classification of a significant number of half-human, half-beast creatures in the Runeterras, similar to the dwarf yodel race.

Although many of them come from different regions and serve in different city-states, it is likely that they are all Vastayas - Vastayas are very adaptable to their environment, and they can be found in the sky, land, and sea.

Lo and Kasumi are from Ionia. Kasumi delves into human territory in order to revive her own race, and meets Raku in a small human town.

Luo, a dancer who is proficient in singing and war dance, wins the applause of the audience for his performance, but does not attract Kasumi's attention, so he follows Kasumi on a journey together, and they cooperate tacitly, and gradually develop a good feeling.

Ahri, known as the "Pearl of Ionia", has a strange resemblance to Lo due to her magic from the Vastaya bloodline;

As she devours more and more human souls, the guilt and pain in her heart make it impossible for her to continue, and she is determined to restrain herself and experience the world with her eyes while reciting the mystery of her origins.

The place where Niko was born is a mysterious island far to the east. The last descendant of an ancient Vastaya tribe lived in seclusion on the island. They are known as the Fogtails. The genealogy of this tribe can be traced all the way back to the legendary Vastaya Chari – the ancestor of all Vastaya.

The Fogtails love peace, but at the same time they have unparalleled potential. The entire tribe is in perfect harmony with the spiritual realm, so that their "Shimmers"—that is, spirits—can blend in with the creatures around them, and even allow them to simulate their shapes.

There are no secrets among the Mistails, but few are as adaptable, curious, and energetic as the young Niko.

Gradually, she began to enjoy the game, and would often hide some of her gadgets to see if anyone could find them. Her curiosity is completely out of proportion, and she is innocent and naïve, and she is not aware of her ability to deceive people.

But the good times didn't last long. Disaster struck.

Thanks to her quick reflexes and the self-sacrifice of the Mistail's elders, Niko escaped the destruction of her homeland. She clumsily transformed into a bird, and shook off the raging fire behind her. The screams of the clansmen slowly faded into the depths of the chasm between the two realms.

A few days later, a tired Niko plunged headlong into the sea. She clings to the driftwood until a strange silhouette emerges from her vision. She heard a sound coming from the waves, and swam towards it.

When she finally climbed onto the deck with the last of her strength, she realized that it was a merchant ship bound for Harrell Harbor. Niko found a corner to settle down and tried to call out her fellow citizens in the spiritual realm. All that could be answered was the cry of brokenness, and the sight of magnificent trees crashing on the fragile horizon......

Niko disembarks and slips into the city—a new and strange world. All her senses were buzzing.

Someone else, or another Misttail, might be scared, but Niko didn't. There are all kinds of noisy people in the city, and strangers have different shapes and hearts. Countless experiences and stories converge here, completely occupying her mind.

Before she could get far, a Vastaya sailor named Corette spotted her. Neeko couldn't fully understand him, but he insisted on figuring out which tribe Nieko belonged to.

Niko had no choice but to use her own Shimmer to simulate his face and expression, hoping that Corette would understand that she had no ill intentions. But he didn't seem to like it at all. Corlett's terrible thoughts surged in, and Niko swooped into the crowd, changing images until she got rid of him.

Out of Harrell Harrell, Niko is inland. In the midst of a tropical forest, Niko pondered what had just happened. She couldn't understand why people could only rely on language in the way they communicated. Isn't that ...... Too limiting?

To comfort herself, she transforms herself into a jungle feral cat, running with the "kind" she has just met in the bushes.

Niko loved the feeling of agility and swiftness, and their eyes were bright and sharp, reminding her of her hometown.

Suddenly, the lead wildcat transforms into a beautiful and strong black-haired woman. After a tense confrontation, she says that her name is Nedri, and reluctantly accepts Nieko.

Niko hesitated not to tell anyone about the Mistails, but she found Nedri unusually kind, as she felt that the huntress might have some kind of deep connection to Vastaya.

For a long time to come, the two became good companions, roaming together in the wilderness.

But everything in the city and the village, even if it was negative, still called out to Niko. She saw her ancestors in a dream. They showed her the pale branches of the dead trees, over and over again.

Trees need color to flourish again – Niko is sure of that. She hoped that her new friend would accompany her back, but Nedri stubbornly refused.

Despite her frustration, the determined Niko left alone.

The days of living with the Mistails may be long gone, but Niko can't help but fantasize about an almost magical future, where the hearts of Vastayas, yodelers, humans, and anyone else willing to dream about the same dream form a much larger tribe.

In her mind, it was possible for everyone to find their place in this new tribe. She longed to find such hearts, to befriend them, and to protect them with her life.

Once you understand Niko, you'll fall in love with her. And once you fall in love with Niko, you become her.
