Chapter 283: Atonement (Li Qing)

Young Li Qing aspires to become a summoner, and his determination and dedication are unmatched by his peers. Li Qing's talent attracted the attention of the then senior members of the alliance, Reginard and Ashram.

While learning the magic of the arcane constellations, he was frustrated with receiving the same lessons as the other students, and spent his spare time studying the nuances of summoning, hoping to grasp the essence sooner rather than later.

Li Qing's arcane learning has improved rapidly, far surpassing that of other students. If it hadn't been for that accident, Li Qing would undoubtedly have become one of the greatest summoners in the alliance.

Impatient, Li Qing wanted to summon a beast from the plague jungle to prove his ability. However, instead of succeeding in summoning the beast, he summoned a young boy who was torn apart.

Before Li Qing could see the little boy's face clearly, the little boy had already fallen to the ground and died. Later, the Coalition investigation revealed that the entire village where the little boy was located had been destroyed by the summoning ritual.

Because Li Qing's talent is immeasurable, the alliance is willing to blame the past, but Li Qing will never be able to forgive himself. So, he left the academy and went to the monastery to confess and vow never to touch magic again.

A few years later, in order to atone for the wrongs he had done, Li Qing used self-immolation to protest the occupation of Ionia by Noxus.

When people poured water on Li Qing and tried to extinguish the fire, his eyes were burned. Fortunately, he was not burned to death, despite the pain of several weeks of burns.

But his actions paved the way for the league's game, and Ionia won the game. If you don't die, there will be blessings in the future, and after experiencing this disaster, Li Qing can be described as a phoenix nirvana.

He joins the alliance and continues to atone for his sins with his own practical actions, doing what a true monk would do.

Among the spirits of all things revered by the Ionians, the story of the spirit of the dragon is the most well-known. Some believe that it represents destruction, while others believe that it symbolizes rebirth.

Very few people have really understood, let alone channeled the power of the Divine Dragon Spirit, and the only person who can control and release it freely is Li Qing.

He was a child when he first came to Shuoji Temple, claiming to have been chosen by the Divine Dragon and destined to use the power of the Divine Dragon. The aged monks saw the flash of the dragon's fire in this gifted child, but at the same time they felt his recklessness, arrogance, and possible disaster.

Despite this, they still took him as an apprentice, but while the other disciples were getting more and more sophisticated, the elders kept him doing the work of washing dishes and mopping the floor.

Li Qing began to become impatient. He wanted to fulfill his destiny and not waste his time on chores. He sneaked into a hidden library and found a way to summon the spiritual realm in ancient texts, showing off his might in a martial arts class.

He unleashed the dragon's wrath without hesitation, and with a single kick, he severely injured and paralyzed his full-stomached mentor. Remorseful, Li Qing was expelled from the monastery because of arrogance and embarked on the road of atonement alone.

Over the years, Li Qing has traveled to many far-flung places, mercifully helping those in need. Eventually, he made his way to Freljord, where he met Udil the Wildling, a man who could channel primordial spirit animals.

In Freeldrudry, there is a unique ethnic group that lives outside the civilization of the Savage Lands. They are the guardians of nature: the Beast Spirit Walkers. It is said that once a child is born under the blood-red moon, then the child will live between the spirit world and the human world. The child will be taken to the Beast Spirit Walker to perpetuate their shamanic teachings. Udir had been such a child, and had understood the roar of the Icewolf even before he had learned the language of his ancestors. Through the Beast Spirit Walker, Udir finally understood what the spirits were calling for, and began to maintain the balance of nature. The Beast Spirit Walker often tells Udir that more trials await him.

This beast spirit walker was struggling to control several conflicting forces in his body at that time, so Li Qing also began to doubt whether he could really control the power of the divine dragon.

The common need for spiritual guidance led to a friendship between the two. Li Qing then invited Udil to return to his homeland together.

When the two learn that the Noxian Empire has invaded and occupied Ionia, they are devastated. The monks of all the provinces withdrew to the top of Hillana to defend the sacred monastery.

Li Qing and Udir found that the monastery was under heavy siege. The Noxian soldiers had broken through to the main hall of Hirana.

Udir rushed into the battlefield without hesitation, while Li Qing hesitated, watching his former peers and elders fall under the Noxus sword. The wisdom of Hilana and Shuoji, as well as the ancient culture of Ionia, are all at stake. He had no choice but to awaken the spirit of the dragon.

The flaming storm enveloped him, tongues of fire licking his skin and burning his eyes. Infowed with frenzied powers, he wreaked havoc on the intruder with a storm of punches and kicks, and the rebellious dragon grew brighter and hotter with each attack.

The monks won, but Li Qing's desperate gamble left the monastery in ruins, and his eyesight could never be restored.

Finally, in the darkness of blindness, he finally understood that mortals could never conquer the majestic dragon spirit and force it to their own use. Physically and mentally burned, he tied a strip of cloth in front of his eyes, intending to touch the mountain road step by step.

But the surviving elders kept him, and their once-disgraced disciples had now given up all their thirst for power, and he could finally start over.

While they would not forget his former arrogance, the monks proposed a way to atone for their sins: while the dragon's wrath was dangerous and unpredictable, the most humble and qualified mortal soul was able to counteract its violent nature and channel it from time to time.

Grateful to Li Qing and the monks rebuilt the monastery, and when the beast spirit walker returned to Freljord, Li Qing began to devote himself to the search for enlightenment.

Years after the war against Noxus, Li Qing continued to meditate as an Ionian monk. He knew that his home would have more trials to come, and that he must take control of himself, and the dragon spirit within him, in order to face any future events.

In the end, in order to atone for his sins or wait for redemption, Li Qing took his fist and embarked on a path of atonement for himself, and anyone who dared to trample on what Li Qing believed in and cherished would suffer Li Qing's thunderous wrath.

Moreover, Li Qing became more and more proficient in mastering the power of the divine dragon on his body, and this terrifying and powerful power gradually became used by Li Qing, and he became more and more handy.
