Chapter 17: Beloved
Ms. Natasha Romanoff has been in a particularly good mood lately.
The pressure of working in S.H.I.E.L.D. has brought her a lot of psychological burden, which has made her nervous all the time. Don't look at the fact that she is a brave and good agent on the surface, and the authority of S.H.I.E.L.D. is as high as level seven, but none of this can hide the fact that she is essentially a woman.
Women are sensual creatures. No matter how strong you are on the surface, what you desire in your heart is still warmth and love.
Natasha knows that in her life, I am afraid there will be no love. The peculiarities of her work, her past experiences, including her own personality, all doomed her to not be like an ordinary girl, and even if she retired, she might be left alone forever.
Natasha originally thought that she would also have no family affection. She didn't even know who her father was.
Since it is impossible to have a family like a normal person in the future, and then get married and have children, in Natasha's opinion, children are also an incomparably distant thing for her.
However, on that summer night three years ago, everything quietly changed.
That night she was on a S.H.I.E.L.D. investigative mission investigating an incident involving a Russian gangster in New York's notorious Hell's Kitchen. During that mission, she met a little guy piloting a 1-meter mech.
She didn't know who he was at the time. She took him as the object of her investigation, and it was likely that he was the one who had been making waves in Hell's Kitchen during that time.
It's just that at that time, in the process of communicating with the mecha pilot, she was keenly aware that even if the other party used a voice-changing device, deep in the voice, that kind of immaturity could not hide from her.
Natasha didn't think much of it at the time. There is no shortage of strange things in this world. She immediately reported the situation to Nick Fury. When it comes to unruly people, S.H.I.E.L.D. will never be relentless.
But a series of things happened later, which made her cry and laugh, and since then there has been a place for one more person in her heart.
A lonely little guy. A little guy with a super genius that even adults don't have. A little guy who needs someone to discipline and guide the correct outlook on life.
During that time, Natasha remembers that she had been in a trance. When he was on a mission, his mind was full of Luke's immature little face.
Hill bluntly believes that she is a manifestation of the overflow of motherhood. At first she retorted.
Later, she simply admitted this fact. Everyone in S.H.I.E.L.D. knows her attitude towards Luke. Among them is Nick Fury.
Nick Fury believed that her personal emotions would seriously affect her judgment of the current priority, so he ruthlessly transferred her from the task force. So during that time, she rarely appeared in front of Luke.
However, Natasha never stopped paying attention to Luke. She has her own sources.
Hawkeye Clint Barton, assigned by Nick Fury, keeps an eye on Luke's warehouse 24 hours a day, reporting all of Luke's movements at any time.
She and Clint were old acquaintances, and in S.H.I.E.L.D., the two of them were once very famous as a golden combination.
Clint would relay to her every day what Luke was doing. How long Luke spent in the warehouse every day, what time he came home every day, what children he came into contact with every day. During that time, Natasha actually lived a very fulfilling life.
Later, the little boy named Peter Parker and a little girl from the moon appeared.
The warehouse was quickly damaged. Hawkeye sent the information back in time.
Natasha doesn't think she should continue to be a bystander, so she goes back and asks Nick Fury to educate Luke intellectually, rather than using force like an enemy, as Hill advocates.
Natasha never felt like Luke was an enemy.
She believes that as long as she continues to communicate, this child will not become a problem in Nick Fury's mouth.
It turns out she was right.
Not only is Luke not a nuisance, he's a natural hero.
Soon after, Loki invaded Earth. Nick Fury urgently summoned a number of people, including her, and on one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s helicarriers, the Avengers were first exposed to an extraterrestrial threat. The Avengers form an alliance determined to go to war with the aliens.
Nick Fury apparently took her advice, and S.H.I.E.L.D. has been restrained, tolerating the little guy's wayward behavior, and not being as harsh as it is with other unruly anomalous people.
So, in this battle of life and death for mankind, that little guy unexpectedly became a hero who saved mankind.
However, the price was to sacrifice oneself and rush into the space tunnel with a nuclear bomb.
The moment the tunnel closed, Natasha felt like her heart was about to break. It was she who closed the tunnel with her own hand using the scepter. She left him in space. She even saw the flames of a nuclear bomb explosion at the end.
For the next six months, Natasha lived with self-blame and depression every day.
I heard that Tony had depression. Natasha felt that she was about the same, and that she was about to need a psychiatrist.
She once firmly believed that the meaning of her life in the second half of her life may be to teach this lonely child, lead him to the right path, and finally become a real hero from a genius child standing at a fork in the road.
During that time, even when Hill was talking to her, he didn't rush as much. Everyone knew she was in a low mood. Nick Fury also offered to let her go back on vacation, but she refused.
S.H.I.E.L.D. work is all she has again. Just like Tony hides in the lab every day to anesthetize himself, Natasha works every day to allow herself to forget about that immature little face even for a moment. The truth is, she never did.
Until one day, Thor suddenly came to Earth. Nick Fury summoned the Avengers again after half a year. The mission is to rescue Luke who is trapped in space.
Natasha had never been more emotional than she had been at that moment. Luke is alive! It's in space! She's going to bring him back anyway!
Surprisingly, Tony, who was not on good terms with Luke at the time, did not hesitate and immediately agreed to take the risk.
This was undoubtedly a dangerous rescue mission.
After all, no one in the Avengers has ever been to space except Thor. Tony even made a set of armor specifically for this operation.
As for the rescue process...... Don't talk about it.
All in all, Luke is back, alive and alive. He became a little hero that people all over the world would cheer for.
Natasha still remembers looking at Luke's small back, and her heart was filled with unprecedented emotion and motherly pride.
The flood of maternal love overwhelmed her.
She didn't resist, she accepted it calmly. She knew that it would be destined to be her mission, to care for and protect the little one.
Luke was her most important person, her love.
