Purgatory (Extra)

"They're all dead." I heard Ember's eerie laughter. He's ...... Anyway, if you have to use human words to describe emotions on a guy who is almost completely a machine, it should be exciting. "Especially Secret Service Lieutenant Shauna Wayne. Of course, they reinvented her. She's special. ā
"Who?" If I let him keep talking, maybe I'll find a flaw. "Who remade her?"
"Source Project, of course. You stupid cat. They reinvented us all. "His shrill laughter pierced through the frequencies and was so distorted that it hurt my ears." But when I'm done, they're going to have to put more effort into you......"
A metal cylinder shoots out of the darkness. I rolled around to avoid it. The cylinder hit a pile of debris, causing an explosion, and then pierced through and exploded another pile of debris.
"Did she tell you how they died?" I heard Ember breathing excitedly. I slowly stood up and noticed a red dot on my stomach. Just fifty meters away, I could see a tall, thin metal figure aiming at me.
Ember laughed again: "That'sā"
"A trap." Vayne's voice appeared in the internal channel. Right next to Ember, she figured out.
I ran. Wayne's crossbow flashed in the darkness, and then again, and again. But with each blow she had to roll to dodge Ember's ridal. In the case of flat fire at close range, Ember's weapon is not as accurate, but the surrounding walls quickly become full of holes.
Wayne jumped to her feet and threw the figure to the ground. I was almost there for both of them.
"Are you ready, kittens?" Ember hissed. "Let's see how fast you can run."
A digital synthesized voice suddenly began to broadcast: "Manual overload. The blasting procedure is in progress. The restructuring of the city is about to begin. "Beneath the layers of filth of the dangerous building, loudspeakers and orange lights have awakened. These foul and filthy urban areas are often seized and demolished to make way for new foundations for the buildings that stand on top.
I couldn't make out what was behind the notice as a series of small blasts began to sweep through the heap. The concrete structure began to fall apart, mingling with the grief of metal.
Ember and Wayne slammed apart. Wayne rolled around on the ground and stood up. I stopped and joined the standoff. It was the first time I had come face to face with Ember so closely. A servo motor in his shoulder was pulsating. I think this man must have been completely devoid of flesh and blood. He has no face, only a spider-shaped head perched around a steel neck.
"Come on, Lieutenant. Shoot me. Ember spread her arms wide, as if to give Wayne a hug. Isn't that what you've always dreamed of? ā
Wayne removed the larger crossbow from his back. Metal arms spread out on both sides of the crossbow.
"Wayne!" I tried my best to drown out the noise around me and shouted, "We have to go!" Right away! ā
"The hunt is over." Wayne whispered, aiming at him carefully. "You're already dead."
"If I'm a human being." Ember said unusually calmly.
Wayne pulled the trigger. The bolt hit Ember in the chest, and he flew backwards and nailed to the concrete pillar. Ember's metal skeleton twitched horribly, and then the power went off. The spider-like face darkened.
"Wayne!" I looked at her, but she didn't look at me. There was nothing but embers in her eyes.
A moment later, Ember's black, matte face lit up with red neon dots, and it slid off him with the help of a servo motor, looking like it was about to escape.
"Smash that thing!" Wayne yelled. Her wrist kept shooting small blobs of plasma, but the spider's head was like an insect, nimbly dodging it.
It fell near a pillar. I punched the cement hard, and the plastic-encased column exploded. The spider's head bounced up and attached to the ceiling. Vayne was still shooting, but it flew by, burrowed into a gap in the corner, and disappeared into the darkness.
The other ceiling above Vayne's head had come loose. There's no time for nonsense - I swoop my shoulders and lunge at her, grab her and rush out of a window, falling into a nearby building.
We fell heavily to the ground, and broken glass fell like rain. I watched as the tall buildings of the central city descended, turning the waste heap into a cloud of dust.

"Damn the first day." I muttered. I opened my fist and moved my fingers to see if it was still usable, and I just happened to find that I still had a data block in my hand. I handed it to Wayne. "It's your stuff."
She stood up in a rage, her eyes bursting with rage. An arc of light, followed by a soft sound, and finally a smell of ozone. Wayne vanished into the night.
"Detective, you let my enemy go." Her voice echoed in my head. "One upgrade isn't enough."

Very quiet near the ruins. Everywhere it was covered with carbon black debris and twisted rebar. A small bug-like thing poked out of the garbage. Several black spider legs protruded from the dug hole. The carapace was covered with a layer of ash, but intact. It made a few turns and reoriented. The condensate splashed down and washed it spotlessly ā but it couldn't be washed anyway.
A lanky metal shadow stepped over the gravel and knelt beside the little bug.
The alloy bug climbed up a carbon fiber thigh, past a dull fur collar, and finally sat on the top of an anodized steel spine. The bugs are bathed in the eternal light and shadow cast by Uptown, while reconnecting with their bodies.
Shadow raised his hand to push aside the fibrous armor on his chest, reached under the electroplated surface of his body and groped his fingers, then dug a short arrow out of the carbon fiber's body cavity. The arrows shone and were unscathed. The shadow fingers crushed the shaft of the arrow, revealing a thin ribbon circuit. It carefully inserts this circuit into an interface under the skin, as if a surgeon were performing surgery. The soft black mask immediately flashed red.
A digitally synthesized chant gradually rose from the shadow's chest, then mutated into a series of giggling laughter. The laughter refracted back and forth on the steep surface of the building, climbing all the way to the top.
"Be my work." Ember whispered into the neon maze overhead. "You will be able to transcend."
