Chapter 347: Ranger (Talia Extra)
Taliyah is a nomadic mage from Shurima, and she is pulled at the same time by the curiosity of a child and the responsibility of an adult. She had traveled the mountains and rivers of Valoran to find a way to control her abilities, but she had recently returned to her homeland to protect the tribe that gave birth to her. Some people took her gentleness and kindness as a sign of cowardice, and in the end they paid the price for their own foolishness. Behind Taliyah's youthful demeanor is an ambition to move mountains and reclaim the sea, and a soul that can conquer the world.
The first time Taliyah noticed the water marks, she had just outrun a sandstorm. At first, the trails were faint, and when she lifted the rock from deep in the sand, she felt only a damp coolness. As she got closer and closer to the ancient Shurima, the water marks on the stones began to turn into wet droplets, as if crying. Taliyah flew across the desert, knowing in her heart that the stones had many stories to tell her, but she didn't have time to listen to tell whether the tears came from joy or sorrow.
As the massive solar disc began to cast shadows on her, the upturned layers of wet soil had become watery, and tiny rivers were gurgling from the rocks she was treading on. Taliyah finally reached the gates, and she heard the deafening sound of water rushing on the rock bed. The oasis of dawn, the mother of life, roars majestically under the yellow sand.
For the past few hundred years, her tribe has migrated with seasonally changing water sources. So, as long as you follow the current, it is very likely that you will find her family. To Taliyah's dismay, however, only the oldest source of water remains. The ruins of the imperial capital are already a place of sorrow that people can't avoid, like hiding from the desert and the predators who wander in between.
Taliyah grabbed the rock beneath her feet, and a sharp stop nearly caused her to stumble and fall. She quickly pressed the stone into the sand and hid it. The woman who had looked around at Vikora was right, this was no longer a forgotten ruin of ghosts and sand. The makeshift camp outside the city walls was filled with people, and the busy scene was like an anthill before the flood. Unable to see who they were, she decided it would be better to keep a low profile if it wasn't necessary.
It looked like people from all the tribes of Shurima had arrived, but Taliyah looked at them carefully, but there was not a familiar face. The men had their own agendas, and they debated whether they should stay in the camp or seek refuge in the Old City. There are fears that if the city can rise, it will sink again, burying all those who stayed in it. Others look at the unnatural glint of storms in the sky and think that walls are better defenses, even if they have been buried in the sand for centuries. Everyone was running around in a hurry, packing their belongings in a daze, worry on their faces, occasionally looking up at the sky. Taliyah had shaken off the storm earlier, but it wouldn't be long before the sand and dust hit the gates.
"Hurry up and decide," a woman shouted to her, her voice almost drowned out by the churning oasis and the approaching wind. "Are you going to go into town or stay outside, girl"
Taliyah turned around and saw a typical face of a Shurima, but other than that, a complete stranger.
"I'm looking for my family." Taliyah pointed to his shorts: "They are weavers. ”
"The Eagle Father promises to protect all the people in the city." The woman said.
"Eagle Father"
The woman looked at Taliyah's puzzled face, smiled and grabbed her hand. "Azir the Ascendant has returned. The oasis of dawn began to flow again. There is hope. ”
Taliyah looked around at the crowd. It seems to be true. While they were still hesitant to enter the depths of the Great Capital, the fear on their faces was more from the eerie storm than from the city or the returning Emperor.
The woman continued: "There was a group of weavers here this morning. They intend to wait in town for the storm to pass. She gestured to the crowd that was pushing and pouring into Shurima's newborn heart. We're going to hurry, they're closing. ”
Taliyah was dragged by the woman to a gate in the capital, and behind her was a group of strangers who had given up on the idea of carrying the storm at the last minute. Still, a handful of people gathered around their enclosed livestock, intending to survive the storm outside the city, as was customary for Shurima's caravans. In the distance, a few strange bolts of lightning struck the outer edge of the storm, and the ancient tradition of Shurima was afraid that it would not be able to withstand the catastrophe.
Taliyah and the woman were pushed across the golden threshold, signifying that they had entered the true Shurima. The heavy door slowly closed behind them, letting out a low roar. The great glory of Shurima's old days unfolded before their eyes. People were next to the thick walls and didn't know where to go. It's as if they feel that these empty streets belong only to someone.
"I dare say your people are in a corner of the city. Most people will stay near the city gates, and few will be brave enough to walk inside. I hope you can find them. The woman let go of Taliyah's hand and laughed again, "Give you water and shade, sister." ”
"Give you water and shade." Taliyah whispered in response, then watched as the woman disappeared into the restless crowd.
Cities that have been silent for thousands of years are now full of the pulsating breath of life. The helmet-clad guard, draped in a golden-red cloak, watched in silence at Shurima's newcomer. Even though everything is peaceful at the moment, Taliyah still feels that something is wrong with this place.
Taliyah stretched out her hand and placed it on the thick wall to comfort herself, but she couldn't help but let out a low cry. From within the palm of her hand came the throbbing pain of the rocks. A terrible ache engulfed her for no apparent reason. Thousands of voices are engraved in stone. Their lives were cut off, charred shadows imprinted deep into the rocks, and the fear and pain of dying moments screamed in her mind. Taliyah pulled her hands away from the stone wall and stumbled. She had felt vibrations in the stone, echoes of long memories, but had never experienced it before. What had happened in the city had brought her to the brink of collapse. She stood up, her eyes wide open, and re-surveyed the city in front of her. A great disgust rose from the bottom of her heart. This is not a reborn city, but an empty tomb jutting out of the sand. Azir had made a promise to Shurima's people, but it came at the cost of their lives.
"I have to find my family." She gasped.
