Chapter Seventy-Seven: Integration
After saying goodbye to Dai in the night, Roddy returned home with a heavy heart, and to his surprise, Ash was sitting on the sofa in the living room waiting for him.
"Roddy, you're finally back!"
Ash was at first quite happy, then a little anxious.
"Hepburn is awake, and she knows how to find the other people to perform the cocoon ritual, but only if she needs your help. β
"My help?" Roddy was half curious and half surprised, but this was indeed good news, so Roddy just asked and asked to go back to Screaming Beach.
Hepburn's face looked much better, and her pale cheeks had a pitiful feeling, and I have to say that even if Hepburn was in a weak state, her beauty was still so clear and conspicuous.
"Roddyβ" Hepburn looked at Roddy weakly, and his eyes began to moisten.
Roddy sat down quietly and didn't rush to ask Hepburn about the cocoon ceremony, but Hepburn directly talked about the party related to the cocoon ceremony.
"The teacher didn't run away, he became the body in my place..."
Listening to Hepburn's description, Roddy gradually recalls the experience of the real Roddy, portraying the ritual preparation for promotion to the extraordinary, and finally summoning a certain being and being killed, all of which is almost the same as Hepburn's description.
Hepburn also portrayed the Extraordinary Rite of Promotion in the Sewers, the difference is that she failed in the first step, so she did not immediately summon a certain being, but what she didn't expect was that the ritual automatically began to repair and run after a period of time, and finally summoned an evil being.
Fortunately, Hepburn had already left the ceremony venue at this time, and unfortunately the extraordinary Bolt was aware of this evil existence, so there was a misunderstanding that Hepburn mistakenly thought that Bolt ran away alone because of his cowardice.
"He's a good teacher..."
Roddy could only comfort himself that Bolt might indeed be a timid extraordinary, but Hepburn was more than enough to counter the cowardice in his heart.
"Can you help me find the teacher? He's still conscious, but not for long, and that might help you find other evil rituals as well. β
In the ensuing exchanges, Roddy learned that the key to finding Bolt was the godless card, although Bolt stole the cards of fate, but he had been studying them and imitating the cards that portrayed himself, the godless card was the first card he made, although it was just a meaningless card used to bluff people, but it still had a weak connection with Bolt.
"The teacher called that monster a slave, it appeared because of extraordinary promotions, it devoured the promoters, and it could become them, but it could not stay in the real world for long, except through sacrifice. β
Hepburn's explanation immediately made Roddy aware of the usefulness of the cocoon ritual, which was to provide the necessary conditions for the slaves to exist in the real world, and that the Mithril Wizards would probably have been maintaining the existence and control of the slaves.
This had to make Roddy start thinking about the purpose of the Mithril Wizarding Society, why the wizard would kill Atana two years ago, and why when he set off a serial murder case two years later, and those victims were all people related to Attana, no... It should be said that it is related to Attana's research.
Thinking of this, Roddy took a deep breath and took out the godless card from his chest pocket.
"How do you find your teacher through it?"
"I can connect with the teacher through divination. β
Hepburn couldn't wait to use the godless card for divination, but unfortunately she didn't succeed in promoting to extraordinary, and she was in a very poor state at this time, and couldn't do any divination.
"Don't worry, Captain Bob can find a soothsayer. β
Ash reminded him, but Captain Bob wasn't at Sharp Point Beach for the past two days, so Roddy used the pocket watch's "communication" ritual to make a brief contact, but after receiving no response, he changed to a message.
After temporarily settling Hepburn, Roddy returned home full of heart, and the cold air made Roddy feel the reality of this world, and the time traveled as if it happened yesterday.
The lit kerosene lamp was faintly bright, and Roddy looked at it in a trance, and then hurriedly returned to the room and took out a pen and paper to write down all the clues and possible clues that he had so far.
"The Mithril Wizard Guild learned about Attana's research and controlled the minions to kill him. β
Two years later, the slaves began killing other members of the study, creating a serial killing. β
"Roddy was promoted to the extraordinary through the ritual of his father Pais, who was killed by the slaves. β
"I took Roddy's body and became Roddy. β
"The victims of serial murders, with the exception of Morabi, have strange and extraordinary rituals in their homes that allow the victims to continue to exist in the form of ghosts. β
"Morabi was killed by the slaves for providing the list. β
"Mr. Isad's student was attacked in the port of Bayside and his whereabouts are unknown, and he was the one who knew best about Attana's suicide. β
"According to Mr. Moraby's list, Natasha, as well as the duke's son, Ida, are under official extraordinary and police protection. β
"Slaves appear by virtue of their promotion extraordinary, and devour the promoters and become them. β
"Atana gave me a taste of the suicide through his diary, and what was he saying..."
At this point, Roddy's eyebrows gradually twisted together, and through Hepburn's description of his teacher's encounter with slaves, he gradually realized a problem.
"Slaves appear for their extraordinary promotions, while devouring the promoters and becoming them... Atana was not promoted to the Extraordinary, and the manner in which he died was a far cry from being killed by a slave. β
Roddy instantly realizes Attana's hint, which stems from Bolt's experience when Bolt was attacked by a slave, but he still retains a part of his consciousness and connects with Hepburn.
It is likely that Atana became a slave because of what he studied, but he always retained a part of his consciousness, so he plunged Roddy into the world of the diary to tell him that the birth of a slave came from his research.
This leads Roddy to connect with the victim's family through the extraordinary ritual, remembering that when he visited the victim Rick's mother, Rick became a ghostly being under the influence of the extraordinary ritual, guiding Roddy to find the connection to the abandoned sewers, and the words "I was wrong" engraved on Rick's table also remind Roddy that the murderer was Atana, and Atana was the slave.
"Atana is a slave..."
But simply knowing about the Slave's relationship with Atana didn't do anything, at least Roddy couldn't figure out how even knowing this would help the current situation, and the Mithril Wizarding Society was still planning ulterior evil purposes.
"What the hell are they going to do with the slaves..."
