Chapter 120: Trial Heat

The draft is fast approaching, and the rookies are all busy trying out for their respective teams.

As the tryouts progressed, as well as some news from the previous joint tryouts, the real data of many rookies have surfaced one after another, and the draft picks have become more and more clear.

The biggest movers were Perry Jones, a rookie who was unexpectedly announced to be the top pick, who has fallen all the way down from the top pick due to poor tryouts, and is now on the verge of the lottery, with some reports suggesting that he may eventually drop out of this year's draft.

The opposite goes to Tristan Thompson, a college student from the University of Texas who has skyrocketed from the first round of the lottery to the top six and even the top three because of his impressive performances in the joint tryout and team tryout.

(Note: Harrison Barnes, Sallinger and others have confirmed that they will not participate in the 2011 NBA Draft.) )

The changes brought about by the tryouts are visible.

On June 19, ten days before the draft, Tang Tian participated in a tryout with the Heat with some other rookies under Fagan's arrangement.

Generally, hot rookies, like Irving and Derrick Williams, have only one person trying out, and they may even try out several teams at the same time and watch from the sidelines.

But the trial that Tang Tian participated in was just the opposite, with the 31st pick, there were many people to choose from, so there were more than a dozen players participating in a trial.

Among these people, Tang Tian also saw a lot of familiar figures.

Norris Cole, a senior at Cleveland State University, is 1.88 meters tall and weighs 77 kilograms, is a skinny point guard, and averaged 21.7 points, 5.3 assists, 5.8 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game this past season, which is a gorgeous statistic, but Cleveland State University did not make it to the tournament this year.

Jordan Hamilton, a sophomore at the University of Texas, is 2.01 meters tall and weighs 100 kilograms, like Tang Tian, an NBA-standard small forward body, averaging 13.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this past season, ranking first on the team in three-point shooting percentage and shooting, and helping the team reach the top 16 of the tournament.

Shervin Mark, the core of Butler University, this Tang Tian is very familiar with it, he was choked enough in the final, 1.91 meters tall, 94 kilograms of weight, just the opposite of Kerr, is the kind of small steel cannon, averaging 16 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game this past season.

Tyler Honeycutt, a sophomore at UCLA, is 2.03 meters tall but weighs only 85kg, a thin forward, particularly good defense, with exceptional arm span and excellent athleticism, averaging 7.2 rebounds and 2.06 blocks per game.

……

As you can see from the Heat's selection of candidates for the tryout, their goal for this year is clear: either a point guard or a swing forward.

This is completely reasonable, the Heat's loss last year has a lot to do with the weakness of the point guard position, and as for the swingman at the front, James and Wade have always lacked this kind of player.

really saw the competitors in the trial, Tang Tian's self-confidence was even stronger.

Take Hamilton and Honey Carter as examples, the former is good at three-pointers, but defense is not good in the NCAA, let alone at this level in the NBA, Honeycutter is the opposite, good defense, but not good at outside projection.

To put it bluntly, they either only have 3 or only D.

Maybe their athleticism is better than Tang Tian in other aspects, but what the Heat want is obviously not in this aspect.

The trial is divided into three parts.

The first link is the display of basic abilities, such as shooting, dribbling, and passing, as well as some basic physical tests, such as standing and feeling high, sprinting and running high, and so on.

In this link, Honeycutart and Hamilton have both performed well in their respective areas of expertise.

The second part is heads-up, where players go head-to-head with each other.

Tang Tian began to show his strength in this link, and after improving his shooting speed, his three-point shot made the opponent unguardable, and of course, what was more eye-catching was his defense.

Playing against him, including Hamilton and Honeycutter, are all players at the end of the first round or the second round, and their strength is a notch weaker than the Irving and Derek Williams he met before, and they are quite embarrassed by him.

Only Kerr, a skinny point guard, won him with an absolute advantage in speed, and everyone else lost to Tang Tian in the heads-up link.

"Who's that? The yellow man. The players were tryout, and no one noticed that James, the core of the Heat team, had just passed by the training hall, and after watching it for a while, he couldn't help but ask Mancias, the trainer on the side.

"I don't know, I'll go in and ask." Mancias couldn't have known everyone who came in for tryouts every day, and when he entered, he walked straight to David Fitzdale, the team's assistant coach in charge of the tryout.

James nodded, and instead of leaving immediately, he went in and found a place to sit there, biting his nails and looking at it with interest.

After the second part of the trial, it quickly entered the third part, and the whole court competed.

The confrontation was divided into two groups, Tang Tian and Cole were placed in one group, and Mark and Hamilton and Honeycutart were placed in one group.

The improvised team doesn't have much tacit understanding, and the offensive end depends on the strength of the players.

After the opening of the two sides, it was basically Cole and Mark fighting each other.

The overall talent of the players on Mark's side is better, and they have been pressing Tang Tian and their side to play.

When Mark's shot caused Cole's foul to go to the free throw line, Tang Tian took the initiative to pull Cole on the outside to chat.

When he switched sides to attack again, Tang Tian took Kerr's open position and hit a quick three-point shot.

The players don't have enough tacit understanding on the offensive end, and the same is true on the defensive end, and simple coordination is very effective in this kind of game.

After the goal, the players who did not play on the sidelines couldn't help but cheer, and the counterattack of the weaker side always attracted attention.

James was a little bored and ready to leave, waiting for the shouts to look at the field again.

Tang Tian steals Hamilton in defense and passes the ball to Kerr, who makes a quick layup.

Mark's tossing response didn't go in, and when it came to the frontcourt, Kerr and Tang Tian played a blocking and dismantling cooperation, and Kerr passed the ball back to Tang Tian's empty three-point position at the top of the arc and then scored.

After a wave of 8-0 offensive, Tang Tian and their side pulled the situation back in one fell swoop.

James raised his eyebrows, and without waiting for Mancias to finish asking, he got up and walked over.

"LeBron." Fitzdale greeted James with a smile when he saw him coming.

"That's a good rookie." James pointed to Tang Tian on the field and said.
