A total of 2,284 athletes, coaches and officials from 182 countries and regions have signed up to participate in this year's World Youth Championships, and more than 500 officials of national athletics associations and more than 300 Chinese and foreign journalists will observe and report on the events. It will be the largest event in the history of the World Youth Athletics Championships, and it is also the highest-level international track and field event hosted by China.
The Chinese team also has a lot of gold points
The World Junior Athletics Championships is known as the "cradle of stars". Many famous athletes have tried their hand at the knife for the first time. It was here that Wang Junxia and Liu Xiang emerged and gradually became brilliant. This year, the 11th World Youth Championships also attracted the attention of athletes from all over the world, with 2284 registrations being the highest in the history. The Chinese Athletics Association even took advantage of the home stadium to report 79 athletes in one go, except for only one person in the men's 800 meters, the remaining 40 individual events were full.
When it comes to the gold point of the Chinese team, team leader Hu Xinmin has his own opinions: "Huang Haiqiang's men's high jump, Yang Yansheng's men's pole vault, Zhang Xiaoyi's men's long jump and Zheng Xingjuan's women's high jump all have some hope. These athletes are ranked in the top three in the world, and some are even ranked first. "The medal point is China's traditional advantage event - men's and women's race walking. It is reported that among the 78 people participating in this competition, 24 are ranked in the top 8 in different events, and 13 of them are ranked in the top 3.
The security guards didn't even let go of the soles of their shoes
A week ago, Chaoyang Sports and Leisure Park was very quiet, and if you want to enter, you must be accompanied by relevant personnel of the organizing committee. Today's Chaoyang Sports and Leisure Park is full of people, but to enter the competition venue - Chaoyang Stadium, you must go through many levels. All pedestrians entering were required to have their bodies and backpacks X-rayed, and even construction workers with work badges around their necks and carts in their hands were required to pass through the security gate and be checked before entering. A "sole safety detector" does not even let go of the soles of the audience. If a metal object is hidden in the sole of the shoe, an alarm will sound. The real-time monitoring of 8 cameras in key locations such as the center of the stadium and surrounding roads is as seamless as possible. Even the fence of the sports centre is under police surveillance, and anyone who climbs over the fence will be tracked until they are brought under control.
The press center is like a VIP lounge
A week ago, the press centre was just a room of more than 1,600 square meters, with rows of tables and partitions divided into areas for different purposes by a baffle. Today, it's like a VIP lounge at an airport. Artificial leather sofa, imitation mahogany coffee table, in addition to a number of LCD large color TVs and a freezer. In the work area, 180 broadband interfaces, computer query terminals and the first electronic scrolling screen are provided to ensure that reporters from various news media can report all kinds of information about the World Youth Games in a timely and accurate manner. The information centre also has a service area, which provides both a replacement of communication equipment and a postal service. Next to the service desk, there is also a row of cabinets for journalists to store their luggage. It is the largest press centre of any international competition organized in recent years, with more than 300 journalists working here at the same time.
"Beijing will definitely be able to do a good job in the World Youth Championships!" This is the greatest expectation that IAAF President Lamine Diack has given for this World Junior Championships. The World Youth Athletics Championships also plays an important role in the 2008 Olympic Games, and the Olympic Games are simulated in all aspects, and "the successful experience will surely become the cornerstone of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games."
