Chapter 21: The Origin of the Isle of Shadows

(PS: This chapter, most of which is from the backstory, has been briefly sorted out considering that some people haven't read it.) )

Once upon a time, there was an island shrouded in blessed light in the depths of the sea, full of love and peace. Legend has it that the secret of eternal life is hidden there.

This is the predecessor of Shadow Island, Fuguang Island.

The upheaval on Fukumitsu Island is a tragedy, and five people play a major role in it—four lives and one death. They were the king, queen, general, commander of the Iron Regiment, and Hammerstone, the storehouse keeper of Fukukoshima.

During his lifetime, Calista was a general of the kingdom and had a noble status. She abides by honor, is strict with herself, and is loyal and reliable.

Her king made many enemies, and during an assassination attempt at the behest of a vassal king, Callista was quick to prevent the tragedy from happening. Although the king is safe and sound, Callista has caused misfortune for the queen. The Assassin's blade was poisoned, and Callistag slashed the Queen's arm. The king summoned all the famous doctors, priests, and magicians, but no one was able to remove the poison from the queen's body. Even the king's own magic could only delay the time of the poison.

The king, who was deeply attached to the queen and grieved by her condition, ordered Calista to go out in search of an antidote.

Before she left, she appointed the Iron Order to guard the king, and Hekarim was the commander of the Iron Order.

Calista's lack of acquaintance laid the first foreshadowing for the tragedy.

The Iron Order is a legendary order of knights of the kingdom, in which Hekarim trained himself to become a formidable warrior and rose through the ranks to become a deputy commander.

However, his heart is filled with a perverted desire for merit and a fanatical obsession with killing.

The commander at the time saw through this and decided that he was not enough to take over his position.

When Hekarim found out, he plotted to kill the commander and replace him.

He accepted Calista's orders, but did not consider it a good job to guard the king, and he wished to kill in order to gain greater prestige and higher status. He thought it was a contempt for himself, and he began to hold a grudge against Calista.

While Calista was searching for an antidote, the king grew twisted and insane, until the queen died, and he lost his mind completely.

Hekarim, who had high hopes from Calista, not only did not persuade him, but instead aided in the abuse and suppressed the people with iron and blood. He also instigated the kingdom in an attempt to start a war.

Just then, Calista returned.

She traveled the world, visiting learned scholars, hermits, and mystical places in search of an antidote, but in vain. In the end, she came to Fukumitsu Island with her last hope. The inhabitants of Fukumitsu Island knew about her quest and were impressed by her pure motives, so they led her boat to the beaches of Fukumitsu Island. Callista begged them to heal the queen, and the island master asked her to bring her to the island and have them purify her body. When Callista returned to the ship, the islanders told her of an arcane spell that she had used to pass through the protective magic curtains around the island of well-being, but the islanders warned her not to reveal the secret to anyone else.

Unfortunately, it was too late, and the queen was already dead. She was shocked by the situation in the country.

Calista was imprisoned because she refused to accept the king's order to resurrect the queen.

Seeing an opportunity to gain more weight, Hecarim visits Callista in prison. He persuaded Callista to make her discoveries public by promising to keep the king under control and not to act aggressively.

Callista was once again gullible to his lies.

She led the King and the Iron Regiment to Fukuko Island, where she found the Guardians and asked for their help.

Unsurprisingly, the island's guardians refused to resurrect the queen.

The mad king was furious and ordered Calista to kill all the inhabitants of Fuguang Island until they succumbed. Calista refused to carry out the order and stood in front of the islanders.

She admonished the king in the hope of rejuvenating his former wisdom, but the king was determined not to change his command.

Calista can only ask Hekarim for help, but Hekarim sees a long-planned opportunity to replace Callista as the king's most important general. He walked over to Callista, as if to petition alongside her, but instead, he impaled Callista with a spear from behind, a betrayal of the devil. The knights of the Iron Order joined him in betraying Callista, and as she fell, countless spears pierced her body.

Subsequently, Hecarim led the Iron Regiment to massacre the inhabitants of Fukumitsu Island and the warriors loyal to Calista.

Rivers of blood.

Hecarim killed all the Guardians until he found the Hammerstone from the depths of the warehouse.

Hammerstone was ordered to take care of the warehouse on Fuguang Island, and under the influence of many magical relics inside, his mind gradually distorted, becoming cruel and tyrannical, and his greatest hobby was torturing life.

Hammerstone turns the queen into a rotten zombie.

When she woke up, she begged that she could die again and sleep forever. When the king saw his beloved queen become like this, he was full of hatred and remorse for himself. So the king cast a spell that ended their lives and bound their souls together forever.

On that day, there were too many deaths on the island, and the taboo between life and death was broken, and by all kinds of coincidences, the power of this magic was infinitely magnified.

A storm of black mist enveloped the king, and then began to spread across the island, killing everything he touched.

Fukuko Island has since been transformed into a mirror image of life and beauty, a dark land of shadows, where weeping ghosts are cursed for eternity and trapped in an endless nightmare.

Fuguang Island has become the Shadow Island.

The culprits of all this.

The king and queen are nowhere to be found.

Calista has been resurrected in the form of a ghost, but memories of the past have faded, leaving only a thirst for revenge that still burns in her chest.

Under the influence of dark magic, Hecarim fused with his own tall horse, and became a hateful behemoth. Now, he is imprisoned in the Isle of Shadows, roaming his nightmare beaches, killing all life in his path, just as his duties in life requires.

Hammerstone is the biggest winner. He lost his mortal body, and the abuse and torture became more handy. Moreover, he still retains his memory intact.

The queen is the cause of everything, the king is the culprit of the tragedy, Hekarim and the Iron Regiment are the swords that help the abuse, Callista's two unclear people are the premise, and the hammerstone is the driving force behind the final ending.

They are more or less responsible, and the others are just fish in the pond that have been affected.
