Only Death (Extra)
The Council was confident that the Void would be able to defeat the Lord of Shurima above them, and they were crowned a new Mage King. Kauali was also rebuilt, with Sejax being one of the first to join the bandwagon. They were victorious in their early engagements, and Sejax even killed a boastful Ascendant in battle, watching with pride as people carried its corpse through the streets of the liberated city of Beizek.
As the Ascended Regiments approached Acacia, Sejax and his comrades rallied at the front. As the two armies turned the ground beneath their feet into scarlet clay, the mages and priests of Acacia decided that it was time to free the Void.
Destruction swept across the land, and the Acacians, Shurima, and even the Ascended ones all disintegrated and crumbled, cease to exist. The walls collapsed, and the void swallowed thousands, sent to cold, silent annihilation.
In an instant, Acacia fell.
Sejax arrives at the pit left behind by the Void's summoning and decides to wield his sword like the Kauali of old. But before he could end his life, he saw a torch staff in the midst of the chaos, which he recognized as something he had seen in Saabrah—the eternal flame still burning on it could damage the Void. This fire lit up Sejax's heart. He picked up his staff, leaving the ruins of his homeland behind, caring for the "last light of Acacia" and the hope it represented.
In grief and shame, Sejax Cayu-Raines Kauali Aycardonon abandoned his old name, and from that day on, he was only Jax.
He became a wanderer, traveling through the known world and going beyond the map record. Because of the Eternal Flame, Jax's lifespan has been extended, even beyond what their long-lived group expected. However, the farther away he was from Acacia, the fainter the flame became, and eventually it seemed like it could be extinguished forever. Jax's cold gritty makes him understand that he can't escape his past. He needs to return to his duty and fight for it. While the last surviving Ascend prevented the Void's incursion, its unique threat persisted.
For the hundreds of years that followed, Jax roamed, a homeless warrior searching for someone strong enough to rebuild Kauali. While he has fought countless battles against opponents with great skill, courage and strength, no one has so far proved to Jax that he is capable of facing the coming darkness and rising to the occasion. The fall of Acacia left Jax suspicious, but one thing was certain: when the final battle came, Jax would face the Void.
Even if he was alone.
Many civilizations have risen up against Noxus, but many of the clans in the Great Barrier Mountains have resisted the most. While these brave minotaurs have guarded the overland trade routes to Zaun for centuries, they do not want to get involved in the larger strife of Valoran.
The noble warrior Alysta was revered by all clans. He stood on the top of the mountain, and a roar was enough to repel the most daring trespassers, and only the stupid and reckless would fight him. Even so, in the halls of debate, he would always plead with his compatriots to forge deeper bonds with other mortal races. Many people consider the Minotaurs to be almost beasts, so they are disgusted by any negotiation and see them as aliens.
Then Noxus came and brought good promises. Their envoy, the matriarch of the Tvein family, declared that the Empire planned to conquer the port city of Besiliko to the east. However, she also promised that their plan for the occupation would first need the support of the great clans of the mountains, and offered to negotiate in the neutral zone.
Many minotaurs are eager to accept her invitation. They will be able to gain the power and recognition they have been looking for, as long as they join Noxus.
But Alista remains skeptical - he's been in front of a lot of Noxian scouts in recent years and knows they're a two-faced bunch. Therefore, his clan sent him and fifty other of the highest warriors to meet with Tvein, rejecting any form of alliance. The other clans can decide their own sides, but Alista will never accept the rule of a "Grand Commander" who is far away.
Under the banner of a truce, he and his compatriots were betrayed.
Several large clans had long been loyal to Noxus, and as soon as Alista took a stand, he was attacked by representatives of other clans. The battle was swift and bloody, and Alista crushed Mrs. Tvein's head with her bare hands. But it wasn't long before he and the rest of the surviving warriors were chained and taken to the distant capital of Noxus, charged with sedition.
These unfortunate minotaurs were thrown into the capital's Reckoning Arena as part of a brutal gladiatorial celebration known as the Meat Grinder Tournament.
The crowd's call for bloodthirsty frightens Alista. He pleaded with his people not to fight back, not to let the Noxians see the horrific situation as they wished.
By the time the celebration ended twenty-one days later, Alista was the only survivor of his clan. The audience threw stones and rotten fruit at him, and chains pulled him out to face one liquidator after another, and he was driven into the arena like a wild beast—and he began to think like a wild beast. He kept killing until his memories of his homeland were soaked in blood.
Just when Asta had fallen into the abyss, he met Arya, a maid in the arena. At first he roared and slammed into the cage's bars, thinking she would be scared, or lecture him with a stick like the others, but Arya's reaction was unexpected.
She returned to him every day, spoke to him in a gentle and respectful tone, and finally Alista finally answered calmly. Arya's hometown was also taken over by Noxus, and after witnessing his suffering, she convinced herself that they should leave the hateful city together. She whispered her plans through the bars, and for the first time in years, Alista realized that she could finally let go of the grief of being taken from her homeland as she remembered it.
One night, Arya brought the key to Alista's cage. She had made many sacrifices to arrange the escape, and he had vowed to repay it tenfold.
They rushed to the river, and a barge was waiting for them. However, just as they boarded the ship, a group of Noxian agents rushed out of the shadows. Alista rushed headlong into the fight, his vision narrowed with rage, and though Arya called out to him over and over again, he didn't hear it.
By the time Alista had killed all the attackers, the ship was gone—and so was Arya. So he fled on foot to the south. He searched everywhere for the maid, but to no avail. She was caught? Killed? Looks clueless.
A few weeks later, a coup d'état shook the dark foundations of the empire, and the escape of the Arena Minotaurs was quickly forgotten.
Now Alysta travels alone, as quietly and unrevealing as possible, agitating resistance in the Noxus-occupied areas and fighting on behalf of the suffering. He must cleanse his heart of shame and repay all the cruelty and all the kindness he has encountered, otherwise he will never return to the mountains of his homeland, and he will never leave behind his anger.
And whenever he passes through a city, he asks for news of Arya.
