Hope (Extra)
"Can any of you tell me whose man's work the explosion on the docks is?" The woman continued. She had her back to us, the throbbing blue light reflecting her slender waist and long, inhuman legs. She placed a glass jug on the near-invisible flame of the chemical blowtorch, and the faint sound of liquid swaying could be heard.
"Go beat up the pickpockets, Miss." Ansel grunted.
Ansel's greatest skill is to turn "bad" into "finished".
"Baron Graeme's men are quite good at talking."
The woman turned to face us: it was not the lamp that illuminated her form, but the restless light that emanated from her body. "You'll be honest, because that's what you live or die by."
"I don't have much to say." Ansel snorted.
She leaned over, and the sound of metal scraping on the ground was coming from again. She's thinking about who to cut on first. But I didn't know where it came from, and I didn't understand it until she walked towards Ansel. Her velvety silhouette left the outline of the table, her hips glowing mysteriously. My gaze followed her delicate form all the way down...... But I saw a pair of double knives. She's a very high-class hybrid, unlike anything I've seen in Phi Cheng or Zaun.
"Mr. Ansel, don't insult my kindness. Some people want it, and they're dead. ”
"You think your legs can scare me?"
The woman stood in front of the fool. I heard the water in the pot start tumbling. In the blink of an eye, a silver light flashed with blue light. The rope that bound Ansel's hands fell to the ground.
My bodyguard let out a string of husky laughs. "Didn't cut it, dear." But our hunters look like they're waiting patiently. Ansel stepped forward a few inches, a wild smirk on his bruised and purple face.
"Come and lick my—"
The woman spun around. This time, the sharp blade of her leg swept firmly across Ansel's neck.
The skull rolled in front of my eyes, and the glass jug whistled cheerfully. Ansel's big mouth. Fortunately now, although his mouth was still wide open, it was quiet.
I kept reassuring myself that Ansel was dead, but one of his eyes was still staring at me in horror. Fear stretched from the top of my head to my tail vertebrae, almost arching my bowels out, but I eventually convinced myself that it was going to end up on the ground anyway.
"Now, Mr. Tourek, we can have a cup of tea together, and you will tell me what I want to hear." She said unhurriedly.
Woman sits down at the table and smiles. She poured boiling water into a ceramic teacup, and a wisp of steam wafted up. She looked at me with a look of pride and regret, as if I were a schoolboy who was slow to count. I can't escape her smile. Asking for people's lives, seeing through everything - it scared me terribly.
"Tea?" I almost cried out of my mouth.
"Hey, kid, there's always a time for tea." She said.
Jace was a gifted inventor who dedicated his life to protecting Piltoverw and the city's quest for progress. Jace relies on the Hextech Transfiguration Hammer in his hand, as well as his strength, courage, and superior intelligence to protect his hometown. Although the whole city regarded him as a hero, he didn't take that reputation well. Even so, Jace's heart is pure, and even those who are jealous of his talent will sincerely thank him for the protection he has brought to the City of Progress.
Jace was a native of Mrs. Piltworth and was instilled with the idea that the city was a fundamental principle of progress: invention. Found. Try to stay away from Zaun. Jace had an unparalleled talent for mechanical engineering, and he became the youngest apprentice ever sponsored by the Gilpala family, one of Piltover's most prominent families. Prepared for this, Jace gladly accepted the grant and began his early inventions, prototypeing many of Hextech's equipment and designing deformable multi-tools for Piltover's working class: a wrench could be turned into a crowbar, a pickaxe could be turned into a shovel, and a hammer could be turned into a blasting energy cannon...... As long as there is a strong enough battery, it can function. Everything Jace touched would make his peers embarrassed.
Most things were easy for Jace to learn, so he couldn't understand why what he saw as simple concepts would be struggling for his peers. As a result, almost everyone who has worked with Jace will perceive him as arrogant and unsightly, and will never slow down and let others catch up with him. As time went on, Jace became less and less patient. At the same time, his words and deeds are gradually distancing themselves from politeness and elegance.
Only one person can be on par with Jace in intelligence while still being able to maintain his mind in the face of his arrogance and rudeness.
His name is Victor.
At an Evolution Day party, which was mandatory for all to attend, the two met late because they both reluctantly participated in the event. Soon after, they began to work together. Victor expands Jace's knowledge and challenges many of his own assumptions. Jace wants to bring real progress to humanity through diverse technologies, while Victor wants to make up for the shortcomings of human beings through technology, such as physical aging and mental bias. They had been arguing, but their disagreements had never been personal—in different ways, but they knew it was just the same thing. What's more, they both understand what it's like to be alienated by their colleagues: Victor because of his strange ideas, and Jace because of his rude attitude.
Together, Jace and Victor invented an engineering mech for the Piltover dock porters—one that greatly increases the wearer's strength, while being light and nimble enough to sink immediately if you fall overboard. However, there was a serious disagreement between the two at a design point, and Victor wanted to add Alchemy Technology implants to the next version of the model, which would increase the strength tenfold, while also preventing the user from getting tired, flustered, and not disobeying the orders of his superiors. Victor thinks this near-genius feature can effectively reduce the accident rate of engineering, while Jace sees it as an obliteration of free will. The two almost got into a fight over this design issue, and it was Jace who eventually reported Victor's intentions to the Academy. Subsequently, Victor was stripped of all his honor and expelled from the Piltover Academy.
The relationship between Victor and Jace is the closest thing Jace has ever had to friendship. He was distraught by this turn of eyes and resumed his lonely work. After that, he became more withdrawn and impatient with others.
While Jace was alone in his research, Gilpala's expedition discovered a pristine piece of azure crystal in the Shurima Desert. Jace volunteered to experiment with it (and pointed out that none of the other scholars in the group were smart enough to produce any useful results), but instead had the Gilpara Group give the crystal to the more polite scholars as punishment. Unfortunately, months passed, and scholars unanimously agreed to conclude that the crystal was worthless and nothing more than a large stone that had been drained of energy. Disappointed, the heads of the family finally handed the crystal to Jace, believing that no matter how talented he was, he would not be able to get anything out of it.
