Bodhidharma, Tianzhu people, the twenty-eighth generation of Zen Bodhidharma patriarch. He was the first person to bring Zen to Middle-earth. He went through hardships to promote Buddhism and traveled east to Middle Earth, and finally achieved enlightenment and profound martial arts in the back mountain wall of Shaolin Temple for nine years. The story is legendary and dramatic. This film tells in detail why Bodhidharma became a monk, why he came to China to preach the Dharma, and why he taught the monks of Shaolin Temple martial arts.
Why did Bodhidharma cross east
The film "Why Bodhidharma Crossed to the East" is a complete personal artistic practice work, written and directed by Pei Yongjun, and single-handedly takes over the work of photography, editing, art lighting and production, so it is also called a "complete author" film by the media.
Through the enlightenment process of the three monks, the director expounded the theme of "searching for the civilization of the lost world and pursuing the oriental spiritual world where man and nature are integrated", and his early experience of studying painting also led his film to strengthen it through an external expression of Oriental painting (Korean painting is divided into Oriental painting and Western painting).
In the soothing unfolding of the film, the use of natural light (a world full of kindness), the appropriate grasp of oriental color intensity, and the delicate transformation of the lens in time and space present the beautiful natural landscape of the four seasons, which fully demonstrates the director's excellent expressiveness and ability to control the image. The extremely restrained listening to Zen and Taoist lines, and the natural, simple and harmonious performances of non-professional actors make the film full of gloomy and sad mood, and realize the cold, empty, illusory, and profound Zen realm. Why Bodhidharma Crossed to the East is a complete work of personal artistic practice.
Zhengzhou, April 9 (Xinhua) -- On the morning of April 9, Mr. Jiaweimen Hiraoka, a famous Japanese Buddhist painter and a disciple of Shaolin Temple, came to Dengfeng Shaolin Temple in Henan Province to donate paintings and ancient books that he had collected for many years. This is the second time he has come to the ancestral court of Zen Buddhism in China since he took refuge in Shaolin Temple in 2006.
At about 10 o'clock in the morning, in the Daxiong Hall of Shaolin Temple, the 78-year-old Pinggang knelt down in front of the statue of Patriarch Bodhidharma and recited Buddhist scriptures. Then, he took the three Buddha incense sticks in the hands of Master Shi Yongxin, the abbot of Shaolin Temple, and saluted them one by one.
Subsequently, under the guidance of the monks of the temple, Hiraoka came to the front of the Tibetan Scripture Pavilion and officially donated a total of 52 boxes of 856 volumes of Bodhidharma-themed paintings and related books and ancient books that had been treasured for decades to the Shaolin Temple collection.
Hiraoka Kaemon is the president of the Japanese Academy of Religious Painting and the president of the Zen Painters Association, and has been engaged in the creation and teaching of Bodhidharma paintings for decades, and hundreds of thousands of Japanese students have followed him to learn the art of painting Bodhidharma statues.
In 2006, Hiraoka Jiaemon took refuge in the abbot of Shaolin Temple Yongxin, whose legal name is Yanfa, and then organized delegations to China for exchange and study many times, and jointly held a Dharma painting exhibition with Shaolin Temple, and published a number of portrait albums.
Abbot Shi Yongxin said that China and Japan are separated by a strip of water and have a history of more than 1,000 years of exchanges. Japan once sent envoys to the Tang Dynasty, the Song Dynasty, and even the Yuan Dynasty to study in China, and Japanese Buddhism was also transmitted from China. The current exchange activities of the Buddhist community can not only improve the study of Zen Buddhism between the two countries, but also promote people-to-people exchanges and friendship, and contribute to the exchanges between the two countries and even regional peace.
Bodhidharma, also known as Bodhidharma or Bodhidharma Patriarch, was the ancestor of Chinese Zen Buddhism, born in Southern Tianzhu (present-day India) and sailed to Guangzhou during the reign of Emperor Wu of Liang in the Southern Dynasty. After a reed crossed the river, in Songshan Shaolin Temple face the wall for nine years, pass the mantle to Hui Ke, travel for life.
Bodhidharma (Sanskrit: ????????,? -535), often called his Bodhidharma Patriarch, referred to as Bodhidharma, a Zen monk of the Northern and Southern Dynasties, through Mahayana Buddhism, and the first patriarch of Chinese Zen Buddhism.
During the Northern Wei Dynasty, he taught Zen Buddhism in Luoyang Song and other places. His works include the first and second volumes of "The Six Doors of the Young Room", including "Ode to the Heart Sutra", "Theory of Breaking Phases", "Two Kinds of Entry", "Peace of Mind Method", "Theory of Understanding" and "Theory of Bloodline" 6 kinds. There are also Dunhuang unearthed "Dharma Monk Absolute Theory", "Buddha Bodhidharma Heartless Theory", "Nantianzhu Bodhidharma Zen Master Guanmen", etc., Liang Wu Datong died in two years, at the age of 150.
The background story of the King Continent is recorded
Bodhidharma was born to subdue evil. Someone once prophesied this.
The son of a king, born under a graceful Bodhi tree, he was taught the scriptures and the art of boxing from an early age by a respected master, and he practiced diligently day by day, helping the less fortunate around him, and believing in his mission.
But the destruction of the country and the death of the family are in an instant. The father was poisoned by a traitor, and a black storm swept across the land. People wailed and were killed. In the end, he was cornered. His fists can face the most powerful enemies, but he can't strike at his compatriots. Although the relatives who are related by blood have fallen into madness under the temptation of power and become hateful.
The leader of the mutiny, one of his brothers, smirked and coerced the hostage, which he recognized as an orphan who had been adopted by the temple. Now the rebels want him to hand over the golden seal of the king, and if he delays an extra quarter of an hour, he will kill a child.
Bodhidharma was furious. His boxing is no longer in his hands. Half of the palace was razed to the ground. The rebels were shattered. But after this catastrophe, the kingdom was no longer prosperous, and it was full of devastation.
Worse still, when sin is annihilated, the surviving people who do not know the truth spit on him as the son of the devil, insult him, and drive him away.
Bodhidharma did not plead, and he fell into deep self-confession. He will always remember how the bright eyes of the coerced child were full of desire to live.
These eyes became demons, tormenting him deeply. He began his wanderings of self-exile, directionless, aimless, until his body collapsed in despair on the side of the road, basking in the scorching sun. The ravens flew about to eat him as carrion.
I don't know how long he was unconscious, but in the haze, one hand scooped up the cool spring water for him. It was a young monk, who seemed to have come from afar. The monk asked him for directions, and he replied in despair: "That place has become hell, why do you want to go there?" ”
The monk asked calmly, "You seem to be haunted by demons in your heart. ”
Bodhidharma said, "Yes, because this unfortunate result was caused by my own hands. He laughed that he was born with the mission of surrendering evil, but in the end he became evil.
The monk shook his head: "You are not evil, you are just too cowardly. It's easy to destroy, it's too hard to build. You've been wandering here: not daring to turn back, because you don't believe you've created the darkness; I didn't have the courage to leave, because I didn't dare to step out of this darkness. ”
Bodhidharma asked him, "What about you?" I know that darkness has fallen, why did I come here? ”
The monk "Amitabha" said: "The poor monk came from the east and wanted to go to the west to learn the scriptures." Chang'an, soon will also fall into the night. The poor monks trekked through thousands of mountains and rivers, and perhaps they could find a way to rebuild and bring back a glimmer of light. ”
Bodhidharma clenched his fists.
He didn't believe he was born a demon.
He should have shouldered the mortal world and held his original heart in his fist.
He was so confused in the darkness that he forgot that the road that was not going was to be opened with his fists.
It doesn't matter that his nature is like this. However, only by seeing nature can we become a Buddha.
Life is a poor journey, and occasionally it needs to go on a rampage.
The road is long and the footsteps are longer.
Bidding farewell to the monks, he resolutely went in the opposite direction. There is no way to go back to the homeland, so we can only move on. He was going to see Chang'an, the place where the monks had started, and his inner voice told him that there was what he was looking for.
The deepest night is often where the light is.
"Shoulder the mortal world, fist the original heart."
