Chapter Twenty-Six: Goodbye Catherine

Catherine was a kind person, something that Rhodes never doubted.

Catherine, who came from a merchant family, became the sheriff of Piltover, not in the pursuit of power, but in upholding the law and upholding justice – and in that respect, she was a good sheriff.

However, that's about it.

In Rod's view, at least she doesn't have a good relationship with the word wisdom.

And wisdom is a thing that people with higher status need more.

In Rod's cognition, unless faced with absolute truth, people always need to have a stand, and the higher the status, the more they need to stick to their own stand, and then seek benefits for their own power.

Catherine, on the other hand, is clearly a guy who can't figure out where she stands.

As Piltover's sheriff, shouldn't everything be for Piltover's profit?

As long as the people of Picheng live and work in peace and contentment, what does it have to do with you whether Zu'an is turbulent or not?

In other words, when you recognize that Piltover's brilliance was built on Zaun's suffering, isn't Catherine's best bet to continue that glory than to stay put?

But it is clear that this Picheng note is not as "calm" as Rod - judging from Picheng's unresponsive performance, Catherine unilaterally suppressed Zaun's news.

There is no doubt that this is a help to Rod, but it does not prevent Rods from turning his nose up at Catherine's choices, at least on the surface.

(But who can say exactly what the situation was and what Rod thought in his heart?) Didn't this seemingly selfish and greedy mage face Sargeras in order to defend Azeroth? There are always some people who say that being a hero is not interesting and is reckless, but in fact, at a critical moment, he is a mage and even rushes in front of the warrior, what is this? )

This time, for Catherine's sake of abandoning her original position, Rod felt that she should be brought in as well.

If Zaun and Piltoverf were able to return to the state in which the two cities were first established, and mutually beneficial, their plans would be much smoother.

And the story will be much more exciting.

……………………

Catherine was indeed confused for a while after being slapped by Rod.

But soon, Catherine became sober – and after sobering, she quickly realized the predicament she was facing.

As a police officer in Piltover, Catherine must ensure the interests of the city; But her sense of morality and insistence on justice make it impossible for her to turn a blind eye to the tragedies that happened in Zu'an.

What makes Catherine even more frightening is that after careful analysis, she finds that the law of her loyalty is an accomplice to all this......

In this situation, Catherine began to try to find a way out.

In her spare time, the Piltover policewoman plunged headlong into the Piltover Public Library and began to research the history of Piltover's first establishment.

Interestingly, behind some of the history that has been downplayed and brushed aside, Catherine has found quite a few unusual things.

For example, the initial form of cooperation between Piltover and Zaun, such as the parting of ways between the two cities, and the several blockades of Zaun in history.

This certainly proves Rod's story, but it also outlines a different possibility in Catherine's presence.

Will Piltover be able to stand up with Zaun again?

Back to the old model, mutual benefit and common development – Zaun provides his own strength, Piltover provides his own wisdom.

Of course, this is only one possibility.

Catherine knew that, compared to then, Piltover was now in the hands of bankers and academics, and that the first inventors of interesting new inventions were often familiar faces—and while not every Piltover scientist was willing to accept such plunder, it was often pointless to resist.

Because the leaders of these academic valves are themselves the bosses of the patent association, they are referees and athletes, as long as you want to go to the patent office for arbitration or litigation, then sorry, the result of arbitration is always biased in favor of your own people.

For example, a few years ago, there was a boiling Victor affair, where the hapless Zaun man claimed that a well-known Picheng researcher had stolen all of his patents on steam robots, but sadly the arbitration concluded that he was being vexatious.

But the shame is that he later snatched Jace's crystal, and used it as an energy source to almost build the ultimate Hex-human machine, if it weren't for Jace's desperate efforts at the last moment, he would have had a good chance of succeeding!

So, in order to hide their embarrassment, the scholars gave Jace the title of Future Guardian and tried to cast him as a Piltover superhero - but to Catherine, Jace was nothing more than a self-righteous neurotic, maybe he was a little clever, but he was nothing more than worth mentioning to some terrible mage.

Well, I don't know when Catherine began to pay attention to Rod's information, although everyone is confused about the recent changes in Zuan, Catherine firmly believes that these things are absolutely inseparable from Rod.

……………………

Compared to what Rod expected, Catherine was rather calm when she saw her again.

"Mr. Rod, please get out of my chair - shaking your legs in front of a woman is a very ungentlemanly act."

In the face of Catherine's accusations, Rhodes looked rather calm.

In fact, Catherine's performance has completely exceeded Rod's expectations, and she seems to have found the balance that belongs to Zaun and Piltover, and is willing to act on it, otherwise she would never have been such an attitude.

So, for a while, Rod was a little confused.

But so what—that still doesn't stop Rod's poor mouth.

"Well, isn't it a little impatient to wait, you know, the water of Violet Dream is very sufficient, I have tens of thousands of gold hex up and down in a minute."

Catherine calmly ignored all this, although she did not debunk Rod's clumsy statement, but the contempt in her eyes swept away, the corners of her mouth turned up slightly, and then picked up her mug to make coffee.

Now it was finally Rode's turn to be dumbfounded.

Where's that lame Catherine who I fooled? I haven't seen you for a few days, how can I become a strong woman, hey!

Director, this is different from what is written in the script!

————————

In the League of Legends universe, the story about Victor and Jace has been updated.

Victor was a genius of Zaun and Jace was a genius of Piltover, both of whom were educated in Piltover and both were disgusted with red tape and did not fit in with the layman, so they became friends by chance.

Although there were quarrels and arguments, the two almost became friends.

At this time, Zaun had a serious alchemy leak, and Victor created Britz to clean up the leak, but when he returned to the academy, his work was completely stolen by his mentor, Professor Stanwyck, and Jace refused to testify for Victor when he appealed.

What's even more terrifying is that once again, during the underwater pressure transfer jointly invented by the two of them, Victor's forcible control card will temporarily take over the user's body, which is seen by Jace as an obstacle to free will, so after Jace's report, Victor lost everything and was expelled from Piltover.

Returning to Zaum, Victor devotes his energies to "glorious evolution", attempting to heal those injured in the alchemy leak accident with a semi-mechanical transformation - but has to stop due to a lack of energy, so he seeks out Jace to get the crystal of Shurima.

Jace, of course, disagrees, and the two get into a fight, and then Victor snatches the crystal.

Enraged, Jace placed the shards of the crystal on his hammer and then killed Zaun, stopping Victor's experiment at the last moment, smashing the entire crystal to pieces (which is how the crystal on Ike's Z-drive came from).

Victor, on the other hand, fled with one of them, contemplating his glorious evolution elsewhere.
