Chapter 80: The Sewers of Hoglas
The school gate of Hoglais was guarded only by Bledon.
Jerry knew that Briledon was different from Berego, and that Briledon had an unshakable principle of guarding the safety of the campus.
This view is clear from the last time the brothers Blego and Poleden showed different attitudes towards the forbidden garden.
Since the last time he successfully walked out of Hoglais's gates, Burledon has been more strict with the school gates than before.
Even for people entering and leaving the campus, at least three or more inspections are carried out, and he always remembers not to miss any suspicious person, otherwise it will be considered a dereliction of duty.
This time, of course, is no exception. When some of the magical students walk out of school on Saturdays, it takes them a long time to get through the Buredon level.
In the eyes of magical students, Briden is known as "Stone Face", and he always puts on a straight face, compared to Professor Punpu, who everyone calls "Dead Face".
However, it is precisely because of the strict security rules of Bolledon that those black spirit minions dare not mess around.
If a bad guy wants to break into Hoglais and try to do something bad for the students, then it's even more difficult.
Of course, this is also the reason why Professor Boke valued the Bledon brothers in the first place, but it seems that now Bledon can only insist on doing so, and Bollegor does not take these contracts seriously at all.
When Briden, with his keen sense of smell, examines people entering and leaving, and when there is something suspicious and unable to make a judgment immediately, he will frown and sniff at the target's body until he is sure that there is nothing wrong.
At the gates of Hoglais, Braedon was sure that no matter how much time it took, he would scrutinize suspicious people again and again until he was completely sure that it was safe.
Everyone thinks that such a strict inspection by Briden is sometimes a waste of the time of the magicians.
He also believes that sometimes special treatment is required, and that his examination process should be simplified in appropriate cases.
While Jerry was screening the others, Jerry slipped out of the corner of the hallway onto the road.
He had just hidden the little golden-tailed fox in the flower garden, and now he had slipped along the flowers and plants by the side of the road to the school gate.
He could almost imagine being yelled at by Bledon when he saw him.
But, fortunately, Briedon was busy checking on the magical students who were entering and leaving the campus, and just like when he first came to Hoglais, Briden's gray eyebrows were raised high.
A mouse with a wand in one hand and a human walking standing is always more eye-catching, and can't hide from Bleden's eyes, let alone his keen nose.
In the same way, you can't hide some magical students who like to walk with their heads down, no matter who sees such a strange mouse, they will stop and watch, right? Not to mention walking out with a bag containing a spirit animal.
"Look, this rat is so strange, it has a wand in its hand!" Someone was talking about it, and they had fenced Jerry's rat body.
"This wand must have been stolen from somewhere, these dirty, smelly rats are several times more hateful than the ugliest rookie pig in Market Town! What a bad luck! β
"Get rid of it, I heard that last time a magician brought a mouse that was scared and cursed, and it caused a mess in the tirami dance arena!"
Jerry listened to their criticism of him sentence by ear, and remembered in his heart, it was hard enough to face the criticism of his father Cassie by those long-tongued students, and now that he had encountered this kind of thing, how Jerry wished he had never been to Hoglas.
The fingers and all sorts of nasty words of these people always came to his ears over and over again, until he wanted to avoid them in his heart.
But, with that comes -
He squeaked in pain from being hit by a milk carton.
A magical student threw the finished milk carton at him!
"Get out of here, stinky rat," said one of the magicians, "and go back where you came from!" β
"Are you angry that they scolded you like that?" Zhang Wuwei asked tentatively.
"Who wouldn't be angry? But what can be done but to endure it? Jerry said with a sad face, "As soon as we slip out of here, their attacks on me will stop immediately." β
Jerry calmed down and changed his tone.
"Anyway, their words sound ugly, but the truth is that I've turned into a rat." Jerry said.
"If I don't leave Hoglais, Bleidon probably won't even let a mouse go," Jerry said, "but I'm not going to hold back because of Bleiden's strict inspection......"
Jerry bit his lip and said firmly, "We'd better slip out of the small door of Hoglais, what do you say, Brother Zhang?" β
"Do you know where the little door is?"
The two fell silent for a while.
After a long pause, Jerry hesitated to ask the trickiest question: "Do you think I should think I should think of myself as a mouse and get out of those mouse or cat holes?" Although it takes a lot of courage for anyone. β
"It must be an unforgettable experience." Zhang Wuwei said. "Let's go, avoid those long-tongued students, Jerry, maybe you're right, those little holes in the stinky ditch that no one knows about are the safest way to get out?"
Eventually, Jerry decided to exit through the gates of Hoglais, dragging the rat away from the crowd.
He slipped away from the feet of the long-tongued students, and was nearly hit by an egg thrown by a magician.
A few of the long-tongued students didn't let go of a mouse, and when they saw Jerry running in the direction of the north, they followed, picked up the stones on the ground, and threw them at Jerry's back.
Jerry was hit by them and screamed in pain, and he hurriedly picked up speed and made a sharp turn!
Instantly, he felt his body float!
When he realized that it was Zhang Wuwei who lifted him in the air with his cigarette palm, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Little by little, the noise of the long-tongued students chasing the mice slowly faded away, and there was no longer a little bit of nervous sound from Jerry, and his demeanor began to settle down.
Zhang Wuwei picked up the bag from the flower garden and ran to the north with Jerry, and soon found a manhole cover covered with mud.
Jerry was ready to escape Hoglais through the sewers, and in silence, the manhole cover was pried up by a cigarette paw.
"Hurry up, put the little golden-tailed fox down." Zhang Wuwei reminded, and then heard a footfootstep, "Someone is coming, hurry up!" Zhang Wuwei said hurriedly.
Jerry helped drag the bag, and the rat jumped down, and Zhang Wuwei hurriedly covered the manhole cover with his cigarette palm.
Now that footsteps were just a few steps away from the manhole cover, Jerry held his breath.
The footsteps were getting closer and closer above his head, and whoever was facing such a situation at the moment couldn't help but feel uneasy.
"Coo......," the little golden-tailed three-eyed fox let out a low cry.
Zhang Wuwei's cigarette palm suddenly slapped out, knocking the little golden-tailed fox unconscious.
Jerry's eyes widened, he looked stupid.
After a while, the footsteps began to move away from them, and Jerry quietly dug his head out of the gap in the manhole cover, and saw a pair of feet parked not far away.
- It's the one-eyed weirdo peeping out of the window of dormitory 7, looking around with a metal watering can in his hand.
His gaze turned to the manhole cover, and Jerry buried his head, his heart pounding.
After a while, the one-eyed monster didn't notice anything and went somewhere else.
Jerry just breathed a sigh of relief.
Zhang Wuwei urged him to go deeper into the sewer, "It's an abandoned sewer, I hope we can get out soon." β
"That one-eyed weirdo just now kept looking around, sneaky." Jerry followed the moving bag and fumbled his way down the drain.
He didn't know how long he had been walking in the sewers, and when he got out of the crack in another manhole cover, he found that it was noon, and he had come to a strange secluded place.
With a loud bang, Zhang Wuwei's cigarette palm knocked the manhole cover open, and the bag containing the little golden-tailed fox trembled and rose up from under the manhole cover.
"Where is this?" Jerry didn't know the way, he took a few steps forward, and there was silence all around.
"We must get back to Hoglais sooner."
Jerry muttered, and he jumped on the bag at once, letting Zhang Wuwei control his cigarette palm and lead him in the direction of the black forest east of Hoglas.
As he approached Hoglais, he found the stone guard Bleiden still standing there like a statue. His gray eyebrows were still raised high, and he did not slack off for a moment.
"Neil said before that he asked the stone guard Bolego to help him get some ingredients from outside the Hoglais campus, everything seems so easy, and a dutiful guard like Briddon, I'm sure, can't use some coins to get him to cooperate with us." Jerry recalls what Neil had said earlier.
After they waited for the students to dwindle in and out of Hoglais, the guard Bryden, known to everyone as "Stone Face", finally moved his body, wiped the sweat from his forehead with his sleeve, and left for a while.
"Hurry up! Bledon must have gone to the toilet! Zhang Wuwei shouted.
As he spoke, almost instantly, he rushed from the Hoglais school gate with the bag and Jerry to the black grove to the east.
"Whew-" Jerry took a deep breath, the cool wind blowing in his ears.
Stepping into the Black Woods, the misty fog reappeared in front of him, but it made Jerry happy, and he thought that he would soon be able to find Rugley and ask him to help him unravel the "Transformation Charm", and then return to Hoglais in the afternoon to meet with Lao Bugu.
He thought so to himself, butβ
Zhang Wuwei showed a kind of worry, because he felt that Jerry was still very naΓ―ve, and it was impossible for a cunning ghost thief like Rugli to agree to him easily.
"When I saw the intersection in front of me, I knew we weren't lost this time."
Jerry told Zhang Wuwei, "I've always kept the route to the Vault House in my head, and we'll be soonβ"
As soon as he finished speaking, the smile immediately disappeared, and he thought that he had to think about something, and if Rugli didn't agree to him, but used it as a condition to blackmail himself, then it would at least become a matter for Jerry to think about seriously.
"This will affect your later choices," Zhang Wuwei learned of his worries and reminded him seriously, "It is actually a good choice to study magic with the professors of Hoglas and Rugli at the same time. β
Zhang Wuwei paused, "You can think about both sides, and you don't have to make your heart so conflicted." β
"I just want to not owe each other anything to Rugley." Jerry said, thinking about it, seemed to feel like he wasn't quite right.
He paused, then added, "But, as soon as I think about it, I suddenly feel that this can't be the case. β
Jerry was so embarrassed by this question that he muttered, "I'll have to give up one side or the other, or I'll have to go back to Hoglas and take my magic lesson." β
"Rughli is not a person to be messed with." Zhang Wuwei emphasized.
"I don't like the way he teaches, he's so rude!" Jerry said, "I didn't think he could teach me anything other than to endure his orders." β
