(42) Degenerative spondylitis
Degenerative spondylitis, also known as hypertrophic spondylitis, proliferative spondylitis, vertebral osteoarthritis, etc., is a disease based on degenerative changes of the vertebral body and local aseptic inflammation, with chronic pain as the main symptom. Intervertebral discs, intervertebral joints, paravertebral soft tissues, vertebral bodies, cervical spine, thoracic spine, and lumbar spine can all occur, but the lesions of the lumbar spine are the most common and the symptoms are more obvious.
In the early stage, it is manifested as waist pain, fatigue, inability to sit for a long time, and it is necessary to change positions frequently when sitting for a long time, and the waist is stiff, and the movement is inconvenient, which is aggravated by fatigue, cold, and rainy weather, and the symptoms are more severe in the morning, and those who sleep on soft beds are still very serious. However, symptoms often decrease significantly with a little activity. The course of the disease is prolonged, and in a few patients the pain may involve the buttocks and the back of the thighs.
