The main causes are inflammation (e.g., herpes virus infection), tumors (e.g., semilunar ganglioma), aneurysms, etc.

There is often a history of other relevant medical conditions before or during the illness. Pain lasts long at the time of the attack, pain persists between attacks, sensory loss or absence of the trigeminal nerve distribution, weakness in chewing, and decreased or absent corneal reflexes.

Secondary trigeminal neuralgia should be treated initially with the cause, followed by the following.

1. Methods and steps

(1) The patient takes a sitting position, and the surgeon gently rubs the patient's face on both sides with the palms of both hands for 3~5 minutes to relax the facial muscles, see Figure (1).

(2) Use your thumb to gently rub the upper and lower parts of the patient's eye sockets and upper part of the lips, and focus on the pain points, such as Yintang, cheek car, Yingxiang, cheeks, and human middle acupoints for 3~5 minutes, see this figure (2).

(3) The surgeon uses his thumb to rub the Neiguan, Waiguan and Hegu points for 1~3 minutes. The exertion can be slightly increased, and the pain point transfer method is used for treatment, as shown in this figure (3).

(4) The patient takes a sitting position, and the surgeon then rubs the patient's Baihui, Fengchi, Fengfu and temples with his thumb for 3~5 minutes, as shown in this figure (4).

2. Precautions

(1) First of all, it is necessary to clarify the cause of the disease, and the acute stage of the secondary lesion can be combined with the above therapy under the premise of drug treatment to relieve pain.

(2) The diet should be light and avoid irritating foods, such as onions, garlic, chili peppers, etc.

(3) Strengthen warmth, especially on the face. Appropriate outdoor exercise to enhance physical fitness and enhance immunity.

(4) In the treatment of this disease, patients must build confidence and be happy in order to overcome the disease.
