(15) Insomnia

Insomnia refers to the lack of sleep due to various causes. It usually includes a lack of sleep duration, depth, and recovery energy. For example, it is difficult to fall asleep at the beginning of sleep, and it is easy to wake up when you fall asleep, and you can't sleep again after waking up, or even can't sleep all night. Modern medicine believes that it is more common in people who are weak or have chronic diseases, and it can occur in all seasons; Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the main causes are anxiety and fatigue, damage to the heart and spleen, lack of biochemical sources, and lack of labor and blood, resulting in restlessness. It can be seen in blood deficiency caused by heart and spleen insufficiency.

Main symptoms: dreaminess and easy awakening, palpitations and forgetfulness, dizziness, fatigue of limbs, tasteless diet, pale complexion, pale tongue, etc.

1. Methods and steps

This method can be operated by itself, and it is generally advisable to do it half an hour before going to bed.

(1) Take the supine position, first use the fingers of the index, middle and ring fingers of both hands to press and knead the hall for 3~5 minutes, see this figure (1).

(2) Immediately follow the upper method, rub the Shenmen acupoint with your thumb for 1~3 minutes, see this figure (2).

(3) Then use your thumb to press and rub the Zusanli and Sanyinjiao acupoints for 3~5 minutes, see this figure (3).

(4) Finally, use the palm of your right hand to rub the abdomen clockwise for 3~5 minutes with the navel as the center of the abdomen, see this figure (4).

(5) After the upper method is completed, then lie prone and gently perform the operation on the spine with both hands for 3~5 minutes, see this figure (5).

2. Precautions

(1) Pay attention to eliminating the factors that cause insomnia, treat the symptoms, and correct the incorrect lifestyle and living habits in time.

(2) Patients with insomnia should try not to take medication to avoid adverse reactions or addiction.

(3) Participate in some outdoor activities and physical exercises appropriately to regulate emotions.
