(12) Supraspinous ligament sprain

The supraspinous ligament connects the longitudinal ligament between the terminus of the spinous processes of the thoracic, lumbar, and sacral vertebrae. Factors such as bending over, moving objects, and flashing can easily lead to supraspinous ligament sprains. Pain in the lower back occurs immediately after a supraspinous ligament sprain. The pain is persistent, relieved but not eliminated after rest, and the pain is aggravated when coughing, sneezing, and stool straining, and the waist cannot be straightened, and walking is unfavorable, and it is found that there is obvious tenderness on the spinous process of the lumbar vertebrae during examination.

1. Methods and steps

See Figure 2-2-12.

Figure 2-3-12 Supraspinous ligament sprain

(1) The patient is prone and the surgeon is located on the left side of the patient. Use the palm of your right hand to gently rub and push around the patient's tender point for 3~5 minutes, see this figure (1).

(2) The surgeon gently rubs and pushes the muscles on both sides of the patient's spine with the palm root kneading method, and repeats the operation for 3~5 minutes to achieve the purpose of local muscle relaxation, as shown in this figure (2).

(3) The surgeon uses finger kneading to perform repeated operations on the patient's tender point for 3~5 minutes, and the force is from light to heavy, see this figure (3).

(4) The surgeon rubs the patient's acupoints such as Huan Jump, Kidney Yu, Chengfu, Weizhong, Weiyang, and Chengshan with his thumb, and repeats the operation for 3~5 minutes, depending on the patient's local soreness, as shown in this figure (4).

2. Precautions

(1) The pathogenesis of this disease is complex, and the diagnosis should be clear before treatment, and no missed or misdiagnosed diagnosis should be made.

(2) The surgeon should not use too much force during the operation, and the patient should feel moderate and comfortable, so as not to cause greater damage.

(3) If the symptoms do not improve after more than 3~5 times of treatment, they should go to the hospital for further examination and diagnosis.

(4) At the same time of treatment, patients should pay attention to strengthening appropriate spinal exercises and keeping the spine warm.
