035 Mennonite
Six young people sat honestly on the couch.
Rorschach stood in front of them with his hands on his chest, squinting his eyes and sweeping them one by one with his gaze.
Tifa lowered her head like a frightened ostrich, eager to find a crack in the ground to get into, and apparently she recognized Rorschach as well.
Rorschach didn't bother with her, and her parents were supposed to take care of it, but one of the three girls, a plainly dressed white girl, caught his eye.
The white girl's hair was covered in a white headscarf, and she wore a t-shirt and a dark blue ankle-length skirt, which was completely different from the two fashionably dressed girls with heavy makeup and heavy makeup beside her.
Jessica walked over to Rorschach and whispered:
"It's supposed to be an Amish, like the Lawns."
Amish? Rorschach nodded, which would explain why they couldn't understand the language they spoke, the Amish were Protestant Anabaptist Mennonites, mostly made up of German, Swiss immigrants, who rejected modernity and pursued a simple life, and were a traditional, strict religious organization that spoke a distinct dialect of High German, also known as Pennsylvanian German.
Rorschach narrowed her eyes, not expecting the stripper to be an Amish.
Jessica looked at the young man sitting on the sofa, looked around again, took a deep breath, and asked:
"You Amish are playing like this now?"
The young man in the bib shook his head and said:
"We're not Amish, we're Mennonites."
"Okay."
Jessica shrugged, "You Mennonites are playing like this now?" ”
"We just called our friends over to celebrate."
Bib replied with his head down.
"What are you celebrating?"
"Rite of passage."
"Success, what?"
Jessica asked, puzzled.
The boy who walked down from the upper floor hurriedly explained:
"Every Mennonite has a coming-of-age ceremony at the age of 18, during which we leave the house to experience the real society, and we can try all kinds of activities that were previously forbidden, such as smoking, drinking, having fun, driving, etc...... After the ceremony, we had to choose between the Sam's and Mennonite lifestyles. ”
Rorschach nodded and asked:
"We're looking for a girl who lives here, her name is Hannah, do you know her?"
"Acquaintance."
The boy who came down from the upper floor looked at Rorschach, "I'm her brother Sam, is she in trouble?" ”
"Something happened at work."
Rorschach replied.
"Inside the restaurant?"
Sam was surprised, "Did someone steal her tip again?" ”
Jessica said on the side:
"It's kind of similar, we're going to look at her room, get a picture of her, and make sure we're in the right place."
"Okay."
Sam nodded.
He led Rorschach and Jessica to the second floor and pushed open a door.
The room was not big, only a single bed, next to the bedside table and a wardrobe, which was very clean and tidy.
Rorschach walked into the room, turned to look at Sem and asked:
"When was the last time you saw your sister?"
"Yesterday afternoon."
Sam replied, "She hasn't been back since she got off work......
He thought for a moment and asked nervously:
"Is something wrong with my sister!?"
"It's just a routine inquiry."
Jessica said, "Have you ever sent your sister to work?" ”
"I don't have a driver's license."
Sam shook his head, "We only have one car, we all share it, and occasionally we drop by. ”
Rorschach nodded, walked to the bedside and opened the bedside table, and saw that there was a world-famous book "Les Miserables" in it, and a photo was used as a bookmark to clip it in the book, and took out the photo, he found that it was a group photo, and the girl in the photo was Hannah, but the young man next to her was not any of the people in the room, he held up the photo and asked:
"Is this your sister?"
"Yes."
Sam replied.
"Is she dating this guy?"
Rorschach gestured to the young man next to Hannah in the photo.
"I don't know him."
Sem sighed, "There are a lot of men who like Hannah, but we have set a rule that we can't ask anything about each other's love lives. ”
Rorschach nodded and handed the photo to Jessica.
Sem stared at him and asked:
"Does this have anything to do with my sister's job?"
"We also want to figure out ......"
Rorschach thought for a moment and said, "We're going to talk to your parents." ”
"No problem."
"They live in Mennonite's stronghold not far from here, just a few miles from here. ”
"Understood, are you going to talk to your parents with us?"
"I ...... I can't. ”
Sam looked at Rorschach and shook his head, "I'm sorry, I can't go home, we can't meet or talk to our parents unless we make a choice, it's a bar mitzvah." ”
"I understand."
Rorschach nodded, "I don't want to break the rules, so you can give me an address." ”
Getting the address of Sam's parents, Rorschach walked down from the second floor, looked at Tifa, who was honestly sitting on the sofa, and shook his head.
Then, Sam sent Rorschach and Jessica outside the room.
In front of the police car, Jessica turned her head to look at Rorschach and wondered:
"I think the boy should be let know about his sister."
"It's better to let your parents know first."
Rorschach thought for a moment, "I'll talk to his parents first, and then you can tell him then." ”
"Okay."
"Tow that pink-brown AE86 away, go get your fingerprints checked, and Jessica, you can go back in the trailer."
With that, Rorschach opened the door of the police car and sat in.
"Got it."
Jessica rolled her eyes at him.
Rorschach poked his head out and said:
"By the way, you can find out who the young man in that picture is."
"Okay."
Jessica spread her hands, "You're the sheriff, you have the final say." ”
"Please."
Jessica glanced at Rorschach and turned to AE86.
Rorschach smiled and started the police car and headed for the road.
……
After the police car left, behind a house not far away, Hansen and Marcus stood in the shadows.
Marcus asked a little nervously:
"Hansen, why are the police coming?"
"I don't know ......"
Hansen narrowed his eyes and thought for a moment, "It's supposed that these Amish people are in trouble." ”
"Isn't it? Sam: They don't look like that. ”
"Humph......"
Hansen said disdainfully, "You know a fart!" If it weren't for the sake of currying favor with the boss, you think I'd want to deal with these guys? ”
"Yes, yes."
Marcus seemed to remember something, and said, "By the way, Hansen, that shipment seems to be a little impure, and there is caffeine in it." ”
"Grass."
Hansen glared at him, "Don't worry about the shit chemistry, I'm going to get this shipment out as soon as possible, understand?!" ”
"Understood, understood."
Marcus hurriedly replied.
Hansen shook his head, lit a cigarette, and took a hard puff.
