Chapter 6 Signs and Warning Lights

Benjamin's departure disappointed Lola, and as it approached noon, Alice, the most important person in the Grande House, was also busy, and she had to prepare lunch. The Great Dane Gold, who had been out in the wild, also showed up in the kitchen on time, and he would not miss the food that Alice had prepared for him.

"Is it gold?" Lola found gold while Alice was peeling potatoes, "I've heard my grandmother mention it, what a poor fellow." ā€

Lola had heard the story of King, Pochi Quinn, the guy who everyone didn't like very much, who forced the Grande House dog to be a pet, and poor King was abused. After Poch himself went to an insane asylum for treatment, Mrs. Quinn apologetically sent Kim back to the Grande House.

Alice watched Lola try to get close to Jin, and hurriedly dissuaded: "Its temper is very strange, it doesn't like people to get close to it, don't touch it!"

"Oh. Lola looked at the Great Dane curled up in the corner with some pity, and gave up on touching it, "I hope it will forget that unpleasant memory." ā€

Lola apparently blamed Kim's eccentricity on 'being abused by Pochy', and Alice smiled awkwardly and placed a bowl of boiled broth in front of Kim.

"I can help. Lola watched Alice spin around the kitchen like a spinning lantern, lifting yƬ.

Alice accepted Lola's kindness, but she didn't expect much help from the girl who was afraid she could only make sandwiches, "Well, you can help me open the eggs." ā€

"Okay!" Lola put on her apron and picked up the whisk.

After a long while, Alice noticed that Lola's movements were very slow, and the whisk was in a slow circle like a snail in the bowl containing the egg mixture, and the yolk and egg white in the center were clearly separated. Alice looked at Lola's visibly distracted face, noticing a sad look on her new friend's face.

"Lola, what's wrong with you?" asked Alice softly as she took the bowl from her friend's hand and set it aside. Food can wait, after all, now there is only old Hank in the Grande House, and Alice is not in a hurry. It's this girl who rarely makes the banshee feel kind, and Alice wants to relieve her friend's sorrows.

"Yes. Lola pursed her lips and shook her head, her tone taking two turns, "I'm a little worried about Kyle. ā€

Kyle, before Lola officially introduced her brother yesterday, Alice had 'seen' Kyle, in the death of 'Connor'. The banshee frowned, and she could tell that in the picture she saw, it was just an accident led by impulse.

The Banshee sees the scene from the beginning of the death event, Connor's defiant push towards Kyle, and the end of the death, when Kyle's shoulder in the protective gear hits the most important part of Connor's body. What happened before and after, Alice didn't know. But the Banshee, who has become Lola's friend, is partial to Kyle and thinks there's nothing wrong with Kyle.

"What's wrong with your brother?" Alice asked tentatively, taking Lola's hand.

Lola's eyes drifted to one side: "Have you heard about the Queen's Pochi? I heard that before he went crazy, he always said that he saw the dead people, and he would become suspicious and irritable. Lola's face was deeply worried, "Kyle has been sullen since he came home yesterday, he hears him say to himself, 'He's not real,' and when I ask him, he becomes very resistant. Is this a sign that he's going crazy too?"

Alice was a little relieved that the person Poch saw was nothing more than a golden skin, and it was the people of the Grande House who were deliberately destroying Poch's mind, and the sights he saw were actually illusory and fake. Kyle sees that 'Connor' is real, at least in the judgment of vampires and werewolves, and is no different from ordinary people.

It won't be long before Kyle will accept the 'fact' that he wasn't at fault and that Connor is alive and well.

"Maybe it's the pressure after the game. Alice smiled comfortingly, "I remember you said that he always wanted to do well, get a scholarship, and then continue to be a rugby player." Maybe it's just on the right wing, so there's a lot of pressure on him. ā€

Lola sighed, picked up the large bowl of eggs again, and reverted to the image of a gloating sister, "He can die now." Lola leaned into Alice's face: "At dinner yesterday, Dad forced him to apply to law school after knowing that he was only a right-wing outfielder. Ha, I don't think he's going to be able to hold on!"

Alice has adapted to Lola's super-fast love transformation and laughs along.

I don't know if Lola will be so 'easy' when she faces the life arranged by her parents after two years.

Leaving the Grand House, head north on Highway 27 and turn east at about the middle of the South Barton Side, where the mill that would become the branch of the Grande House is located on one of the dirt roads that crisscross it.

The [Allen Funeral Home], which was originally in this area, was very puzzled why the South Branch did not cooperate with them, but chose Grande, which was further away. Outside the mill, which is now under construction, Anthony, who was asked by reporters, answered the question.

"Today, Grand is the only funeral business in Barton that still has a traditional funeral process. Between the traditional and the new, the citizens of Barton should have the ability to choose, and we, the Barton City Government, should uphold the citizens' right to choose. That's why we decided to support the traditional funeral industry, and this partnership is one of our initiatives. ā€

Reporter: "Will such uniqueness cause problems such as the superiority of the Grand House itself, raising the price, and selecting customers?" We all know that the Grande House has only recently held the funeral of Mr. Quinin, and the ordinary citizens do not have the same financial resources as 'Quinin'. Is there anything the mayor has to say about that?"

Anthony frowned and looked at this reporter, this guy is here to find trouble!

"If you have such a question, you should consult the relevant legal terms before asking the question. Anthony waved his hand, and the people on the left and right dispersed the reporters, and Anthony did not forget to remind him before turning around: "Don't take pictures." ā€

This is not to cover for Zack, but because this is Grande's property, and taking photos at will without the owner's consent is a lawsuit.

The reporters, who never knew that they were satisfied, reluctantly retreated, and they decided to go to [Allen's Funeral Home] to ask to see if they could dig up any inside information.

Zach watched Anthony, who had withdrawn from his sidekick, walk into the mill, and said with a smile, "Anthony, you have not satisfied those guys like this, and tomorrow's newspaper will definitely have nothing good to say about you." ā€

"Do you hear that?" said Anthony impatiently, "you should get rid of this bad habit of eavesdropping on other people's conversations!"

"My friend, you always think so badly of me. Zach said with some grievances: "I want to hear those that don't require any special skills." Zach looked at the man standing to the side, "yes, Madison. ā€

Anthony's brow furrowed, and he skimmed to the man who was beside him, pulling Zach to a more secluded place.

"What the hell is that guy?!" Anthony walked into what looked like it was going to be an office and glared at Zack, "Don't think, I don't know, Madison Cook, it's the name on James's suspicious list!"

Anthony's expression was not friendly: "And I've already checked the name!

"Relax, Anthony. Zach patted his friend and looked around at the interior that was no different from an abandoned building, the blue-gray stone walls were crawling with green bryophytes, and this was the interior.

"He's human. Zach gave up looking for a place to sit, explaining, "It's just some special humans." ā€

"What?wizard?hunter?psychic or like Alice????," Anthony asked insistently, "I thought you were just as repulsive as these people, so why did you accept him?"

"Neither. Zach waved his hand: "Don't worry, he's harmless." And, he's good for us, and you'd want him to stay here. ā€

"Why? You'd better explain. Anthony trusts Zack's judgment, but he is still a little angry, because he knows that once Zach opens his mouth to vindicate Madison's identity, he needs to do something against the law as the mayor......

"Did you notice his hair?" Zach asked with a laugh.

"White, I've heard of people who have gray hair when they're young, there's nothing remarkable about that. ā€

"No, no, when this place is completed and he officially takes office, his hair will turn back to his normal black. Zach smiled mysteriously: "That's what makes him peculiar." When the future of him and the things around him changes, his hair changes. ā€

Anthony stared, he didn't quite understand, "That's it? What's the point? Does he have the ability to see the future? Or does he have the ability to change the future?"

"Here's the wonder. Zach lit a cigarette: "He can't see anything, and he can't make any difference in the future, just like ordinary people." But he was able to tell everyone around him that something was happening that would affect the future. ā€

The white smoke slowly rose into the air, and Anthony thought for a while and sighed: "You found yourself a warning light, and in addition to Alice, you found another layer of protection for yourself." ā€

Zach raised an eyebrow with a smile on his lips.

"Sounds like a very unreliable ability!" Anthony couldn't help but smack Zach when he looked at him, "Feel free to do so, but what do you mean by bringing him here? You know I'm hoping you can make contact with the Konan Branch." Do you know how much trouble I went to get that Cologne guy to use you?"

Zach thanked Anthony first, he naturally realized Anthony's help, but he didn't want to let the Grande House have enforcers in and out at will, and he didn't want Benjamin or Alice to leave the Grande House and work here, and he himself was even more impossible!

"Maddison is an interesting guy and we can trust him. ā€
