Chapter 113: Return to the City Scroll
On the Kun fighter, only Peter and Belle were left.
Peter put the plane on autopilot and left the driver's seat and sat next to Belle.
Belle sat like a sculpture, motionless and expressionless, so that Peter couldn't figure out what she was thinking.
He hesitated, then cautiously raised his arm and put his arm around Belle's shoulder, while praying frantically inwardly, "Don't dodge, don't dodge, don't dodge, beautiful, she didn't dodge!" β
Belle didn't hide, but she didn't lean on him as Peter expected, but still sat upright.
"Is this angry or not?" Peter thought to himself, "Damn, if only I had asked Clint more." β
He silently typed his manuscript, calculating what to say best for the current situation, and before he knew it, he was shaking his legs at an alarming rate, and the fingers of the hand that held Belle were tapping irregularly.
This forced Belle to use the "Absolute Domain" to make a layer of protection around herself, otherwise with her own body, it would not take half a minute for her shoulders to be useless.
After five minutes, Peter finally realized that something was wrong and quickly stopped.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he said faster than his hands, "I really didn't mean to!" β
Belle just snorted, indicating that she heard it.
"I'm sorry for you not just this one," said Peter, "and I didn't choose any of the occasions, the atmosphere, or the way of confession." β
"I don't want you to be involved in this kind of thing," he continued to say to himself, regardless of whether Belle ignored him or not, "The captain has a reason for refusing to accept the agreement, but Mr. Stark is perfectly right. You're going to support Mr. Stark, it's nothing more than that the woman named Waller threatens you with Aunt May's safety. You were threatened because of me, and I feel that I have an obligation to help you get out of these troubles. β
"Please, would you like to say something?" Peter was about to cry, "Are you going to ignore me completely?" β
"I'm still thinking about whether to ignore you completely." "If you could be quiet for a while, I should have been able to make a decision sooner." β
Peter shut up in an instant.
However, Belle was clearly lying, and she didn't know what to do at all.
Just because she knows something will happen doesn't mean she'll be able to deal with it when it does.
From a rational point of view, this is actually a pretty good ending. She didn't break her agreement with Waller and literally sided with Iron Man, and at the same time, she didn't have to actually go toe-to-toe with Captain America, but exited the battle in an impachable way.
In a way, she supports the Sokovia Agreement, and moderate regulation is not always a bad thing. She just doesn't trust the world Security Council, which oversees it.
In private, she felt that neither Captain America nor Iron Man was wrong, she didn't want to help anyone, she just wanted to sit and wait for them to quarrel with a result, and then abide by it, that's it.
Therefore, Peter's abrupt confession actually saved her from continuing to torture herself in a dilemma.
However, from an emotional point of view, she couldn't accept it at all.
Peter's first confession took place in Los Angeles, when he transformed into a werewolf and almost disemboweled Belle.
His second confession happened not long ago, and before he could speak, he was interrupted by Captain America himself.
In comparison, this impulsive confession in the smoke of the Bucharest battlefield is indeed warm and romantic.
This is the third time Peter has tried to confess, and even in the most rigid view of marriage and love of a Southern aristocratic lady before the Civil War, she should accept it.
But she just couldn't accept this reality: in the face of Peter's triple blow of touching his head, hugging and kissing for the first time, she had no resistance, she couldn't even struggle, and she just coaxed.
After some weighing and thinking, she painfully realized that no matter how reluctant she was subjectively to admit it, her subconscious had accepted the fact that the nineteen years of life as Belle had gradually erased all traces of her previous life, and unconsciously, she had accepted her new identity and lived in the Marvel Universe with a new attitude.
Even now, with all her mental strength to resist, she still can't help but feel that this feels pretty good.
As if resigned to her fate, she silently stopped the "Absolute Realm" and let Peter's hand take her shoulder.
Feeling this change, Peter couldn't help but be ecstatic, fortunately he controlled it carefully, otherwise this excitement would have been pinched and Belle's arm would have been pinched and broken as soon as his hand was forced.
"Where are we going?" She asked.
"France," said Peter, "the captain and Mr. Stark are in such a quarrel that they cannot be relieved for a short time. Things have come to this point, and everyone in the Avengers can't get out of it. Anyway, we have already left the battlefield, and we have basically not participated in this Romanian incident, so we will simply hide for a few days, and when the matter has a result, let's find a way to find a way to solve this matter. β
"When things come to an end, what can I think of," Belle muttered to herself, secretly lamenting that Peter was really stupid and naΓ―ve.
But she didn't say it, she was waiting for news anyway, as long as the captain and the Winter Soldier accepted her help, Louis would naturally contact her, and it would be completely too late to make plans.
"Then be whatever you want." Belle said, leaning back on Peter.
β¦β¦
At the same time, in Bucharest, Scott Lang suddenly transformed into a giant, which really attracted all the attention of Iron Man's side.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Captain America and the Winter Soldier successfully reunite with Hawkeye and gather around Louis Wilson.
"What is this?" The Winter Soldier asked, pointing to Louis's scroll.
"The boss said it was called the City Return Scroll," said Louis, "and once it unfolded, it would be possible to unleash the teleportation spell of the Supreme Mage's faction, and no matter where we were, we would be able to return to the Supreme Sanctuary in Manhattan through the portal." However, the energy of this scroll is only enough for three people to pass through. β
The words Supreme Mage, Portal, and Supreme Sanctuary should be shocked when ordinary people hear one. Fortunately, these people are all well-informed, and Captain America has even seen the various strange spells cast by the contemporary Supreme Mage, Stephen Strange, so they are not surprised by the existence of this kind of scroll.
The captain cares about two other things: why does Belle have this kind of scroll? Why should she help herself?
Since the scroll was left to Louis, Belle could naturally guess that the captain would have such doubts, and of course prepared a reasonable explanation.
"This scroll is a test product developed by the boss and Dr. Strange, and this is the only one in the world. She was worried about the danger of coming to Romania, so she left the scroll with me. "Besides, the boss will be on Mr. Stark's side solely because of Amanda Waller's threats." In this matter, she actually thinks the same as Dr. Strange, no one can decide the future of the Avengers, or even all superpowers, alone. β
"Sounds like your boss is a man who understands." Said the Winter Soldier.
"Mr. Barnes, the boss is willing to help the captain because she believes in the captain and believes in you, and she wants you to go to Wakanda, clear up all misunderstandings, and find out who is impersonating you." "Otherwise, if the situation continues to develop, no one will be able to bear the consequences." β
"Captain, without further ado," Hawkeye urged, "Scott shouldn't be able to hold out for long, so you might as well get out of here." β
Captain America, the Winter Soldier, and Hawkeye are all battle-hardened soldiers and agents, and the difference between them is simple and crisp.
The captain and Hawkeye hugged each other, and there was no other superfluous communication.
Barnes nodded at Hawkeye.
They don't have much friendship, and if you count the fact that he hurt Black Widow when he was brainwashed, they are even enemies. That's why he's grateful for everything Hawkeye has done, and all he can do is live up to Hawkeye and everyone else's help to find out who is behind it.
"Let's go."
With the captain's order, Louis unfolded the scroll and summoned a sparkling portal, and the three merfolk rushed in, crossing tens of thousands of kilometers, and returned to Manhattan.
β¦β¦
New York, Greenwich Village, Holy Sanctuary.
Doctor Strange stood in front of a huge bookshelf, flipping through a book that he didn't know what script it was written in.
His eyes never left the books, but what was happening inside the sanctuary could not escape his perception.
So he immediately discovered the portal in the hall, and welcomed the arrival of the three Captain America without being salty.
"Welcome back, Captain, it seems that my experiment with Miss Tefler-Peake has been successful."
"Thank you for your help, Dr. Strange," said the captain, "and I'd like to ask you for a favor if you can." β
"Willing to help," Doctor Strange still reads, "but I have something to say before I send you to Wakanda." β
"Oh, Mr. Wilson, you don't have to take it with you, your French boss will ask me to take you straight home," the doctor said, drawing a circle in the air, and a portal opened exactly at Louis's feet.
Louis was caught off guard and fell straight into his couch.
"Okay, the irrelevant person is gone, I'll just say it. Captain, Mr. Barnes, I know that you are hiding a lot of things, and that they could completely change your relationship with Stark, but," Doctor Strange said solemnly, "whatever happens between you, it can't compare to the danger we are about to face. β
"Dangerous?" The captain immediately became vigilant, "What do you mean?" β
"The Supreme Mage has been guarding the earth for generations, and we have our own way of predicting the risks and crises we may face, and not long ago, I had a premonition that a great crisis was coming."
"Can you make that clear?" The Winter Soldier asked impatiently.
"I can't." Doctor Strange said coldly, "Supreme Mage is not a charlatan, we can't predict the future, we just make accurate judgments based on visions that ordinary people can't see. β
"A lot has happened in recent times. In contrast, the events in Wakanda were just an appetizer. "We've observed anomalous celestial phenomena in Norway, seismic activity at the bottom of the Indian Ocean, and strange spectra of galaxies tens or even thousands of light-years away, all of which indicate that the entire universe is about to die." β
"The Avengers can't be broken, the whole world needs you, deal with your own disputes, humanity can't withstand internal friction, what we need is unity."
With that, the Doctor opened another portal that led to the vast African savannah.
