Volume 9: Outbreak Chapter 9: Naxxramas (3)
It has to be said that Kel'thugad's talent is indeed outstanding, worthy of his reputation as a genius.
This former youngest archmage of mankind and the youngest member of the Kenrito Council, is now the only one among the undead who has become an archlich by his own ability, not only powerful, but more importantly, he has not lost that creative way of thinking because he has become an undead.
Yu Bin even felt that if it was about Entagre's technological research and development capabilities in the world, the psychic academy led by Kel'thugad would not be called the first, and the top three would definitely be ranked in.
If nothing else, just looking at the improvements and creative subversions made by the Psychic Academy in various types of undead troops is enough to prove this.
Needless to say, the first-order ghouls, the technology of the psychic academy to create ghouls has not yet spread widely within the undead at this stage, but this cannot eliminate its deadly threat to the zombie class, in the previous life, with the outbreak of the faction war and the re-invasion of the bottomless abyss, the undead race, who are increasingly feeling the pressure, began to fully promote the manufacturing technology of ghouls in the last few years of world integration, and quickly replaced the status of zombies with ghouls.
And in the 2nd class, Kel'thugad has also creatively developed a special class - Crypt Spider!
In the standard system of undead, the Tier 2 class is the undead unit of the spirit system that is collectively referred to as ghosts, and is also collectively referred to as ghosts due to the largest number of ghosts among them. But in fact, in addition to ghosts, there are also banshees, which are of varying rank but extremely dangerous, as well as some strange spirit creatures.
Those extremely special spirit existences aside, there are dozens of types of ghosts that are classified into second-order classes by the undead, and the most common of them are ghosts and ghosts. Many people thought that there was no difference between these two spirit creatures, and Yu Bin thought so at first, but as he continued to understand and deepen the undead, he soon discovered the difference between the two.
To put it simply, ghosts and ghosts are both undead creatures formed by the power of the soul, but the former still retains a certain sense of self and has a core of power similar to the fire of the soul, while the latter completely loses its self-awareness and becomes an existence that relies on the residual instinct in the soul to carry out its activities.
As a result, the undead generally include ghosts that can communicate and control into their armies, while ghosts are left to the test altogether, or simply eliminated and used to feed the ghosts.
And because there is no external shell as protection, ghosts are very susceptible to magic damage, coupled with the fact that ghosts generally attack low health, so it is difficult to survive on a large-scale battlefield for a long time, even the undead are only using ghosts on a small scale, or using high-evolution ghost classes to influence and support the battle to a certain extent.
In contrast, the ghost class is more meaningful to the undead in terms of low-altitude defense, and in combination with the 3rd order gargoyle, it can support a safe enough airspace for the undead, so that the undead can hold on until the end of the battle, or wait for the 7th order bone dragon to rely on numerical superiority to seize air supremacy.
Therefore, in Yu Bin's view, the positioning of ghosts in the undead class belongs to the role of support, on the offensive side, it is responsible for providing special effects support for other troops, and on the defensive side, it is responsible for wiping the tail of the gargoyle.
However, its disadvantages are also very obvious, that is, the birth conditions are harsh and it is difficult to cultivate.
This problem may not be a big problem for the large number of undead, but for the expelled Kel'thugad, the continued use of ghosts seems to be a bit more costly, on the one hand, the birth of ghosts requires complete souls, and Kel'thugad also urgently needs these souls to enrich his subordinates, on the other hand, it is difficult for the expelled Kel'thugad to obtain a stable and sufficient source of souls.
To solve this problem, Kel'thugad turned to a species of web-weaver spider that lives in the silver pine forest, and this spider called the forest web-weaver spider is the size of a rabbit and is an omnivorous creature that generally catches small animals such as insects or mice. After Kel'thugad captured these spiders, he underwent a series of modifications to create a creative class called the Crypt Spider.
The Crypt Spider looks like an enlarged version of the Web Spider, more than doubling in size to the level of a small wolf-dog, but more importantly, the Crypt Spider retains the ability to create and shoot webs while being an undead creature!
Crypt Spiders are obviously more aggressive than Ghosts, and the webs they fire can be used not only for air defense, but also to capture enemies in flight, and are obviously more threatening to air units than Ghosts.
The problem that Kel'thugad faced at the beginning was also the same problem that Yu Bin faced, and more importantly, there was no shortage of various spider creatures in the huge Hengduan Mountain Range, and the sufficient materials were enough to meet Yu Bin's needs. Therefore, Yu Bin quickly chose the Crypt Spider as his second-order main unit, supplemented by a part of the ghosts, to form the current low-altitude defense system of Naxxramas.
There is also a second-order class that has been included in Yu Bin's hands is the White Bone Knight, which is known to Yu Bin, the only cavalry class in the second-order class, and the meaning of its existence is completely to satisfy Yu Bin's purpose of transforming the Demon Bone Dragoon. However, with the continuous improvement of Yu Bin's level, the white bone knight as the transformation material gradually could not meet Yu Bin's requirements, and the demon bone dragoon transformed by the white bone knight could only be promoted to level 100 of the 5th order, and then it could not be further improved, so Yu Bin had to gradually give up this class and look for a new, more powerful cavalry class.
In Naxxramas, there are 4 Tier 2 ghost tombs built by Yu Bin, mainly to provide a certain number of ghosts to meet the needs, but the catacombs that create crypt spiders are fully 12, and these catacombs are not only used by Yu Bin to create crypt spiders, but also used as a place for shadow spiders and spider girls to live.
If it is said that Yu Bin still needs to consider carefully and choose carefully for the 0 to 2nd level troops, then for the 3rd level troops, Yu Bin did not hesitate to choose the gargoyle in the undead standard system.
In Yu Bin's view, gargoyles are the most distinctive, creative, and cost-effective masterpieces of the undead! This class is more of a construct than an undead. In fact, gargoyles do not only exist among the undead, but also in humans, elves, and even demons, all types of gargoyles and the various modifications derived from them can be seen.
However, the undead gargoyles are the most famous, on the one hand, because the undead, as the creator of the gargoyles, are also the first race to put this type of structure into military combat, and on the other hand, because the gargoyles of the undead are the most complete and distinctive.
Compared to gargoyles made by other races, the gargoyles of the undead are completely made in an assembly line, and after a stone that meets the minimum requirements is simply carved, as the necromancer infuses it with a small piece of soul fragment, it can be easily completed. The whole process takes no more than three days and is mainly focused on the early stone carving.
Although the gargoyles created through this method cannot fly quickly because of their heavy bodies, their sturdy bodies are enough to offset the shortcomings of other aspects, coupled with the low manufacturing cost (only stone is required) and the difficulty of manufacturing is low (a 5th-order dark mage can meet the requirements), it has become an important force for the undead to compete for air supremacy, air defense, and even ground combat, which is almost a panacea for the battlefield!
The undead even made a large area of mud into stone through the spell of turning mud into stone in some battles, directly creating the bodies of gargoyles, and then directly injecting the soul fragments of dead enemies on the battlefield into it, creating thousands of gargoyles on the spot. This shows the importance of this class in the standard system of the undead.
The various advantages of gargoyles make them a well-deserved main force in the undead army, and Yu Bin has no better choice for this, on the contrary, the environment in which Naxxramas is located is more suitable for Bin to develop the power of gargoyles.
First of all, the Great Hengduan Mountains are full of stones, and they are so varied and abundant that there are even two stone quarries in Naxxramas, and if it weren't for the fear that the excavation of these two stone quarries would affect the defense system of the entire city, Yu Bin would not even need to transport the stone back from the outside resource points.
Secondly, although the souls of the various beasts living in the Great Hengduan Mountains cannot be used to transform into ghosts, they can be used as the soul fragments needed by gargoyles, and only the soul of a rabbit is enough to drive a gargoyle no more than two meters tall, is there a cheaper cost than this?
Therefore, a whole eight gargoyles carving workshops stood on the side of the military district, and even more, on the periphery of the walls of the military district, there were thousands of carved stone statues, and when needed, as long as soul fragments were injected into these stone statues, Yu Bin could get thousands of gargoyles in an instant.
Of course, as a supplement to the gargoyles, and also in order to obtain a sufficient number of necromancers to create gargoyles, Yu Bin also built the White Bone Hall to recruit bone mages.
The 4th level of troops is the most headache for Yu Bin, because it is very difficult to choose the class of this level.
The necromancers in the standard system of undead, the flesh puppets developed by the psychic academy, and the golems that once shone in their previous lives. After a lot of comparison and consideration, Yu Bin finally targeted these three arms.
The necromancer in the standard system of undead is actually more like a magical creation that mixes the biological characteristics of armor and spirits, a soul core similar to the core of the elements is bound to a single armor, and by injecting a large amount of death power, the entire armor is fused with it to become a necromancy. After the necromancer continues to evolve, it will eventually develop to two extremes, one is to continue to strengthen the outer armor, and eventually become a mourning spirit, and the other is to continuously strengthen the internal soul core, and finally break through the shackles of the armor and become a praying for death.
But no matter which one it is, it is not very attractive to Yu Bin, whether it is mourning the death of the war spirit or praying for death, the combat power is only at the mid-range level of the 4th order class, and it is not even as good as the crusaders who have honed their sword skills for a long time, their only advantage is that it is difficult to kill, as long as the soul core in the body is not destroyed, this kind of self-aware magical creation will not stop moving. As such, the Undead often use this class to protect Tier 5 Corpse Witches from these vulnerable spellcasters being distracted by enemy assault forces.
The flesh puppet of the psychic academy has gone to the other extreme completely, this monster made purely of flesh pieces was not developed by Kel'thugad, and its creator is Gardin, who is the director of the psychic college. Gardin's original purpose in creating the Flesh Golem was to provide an effective flesh shield to the military forces of the Psychic Academy, absorbing enough damage in battle to avoid large losses to other vulnerable classes. In this respect, the flesh golem fully satisfies Gardin's requirements.
The most important feature of this Tier 4 class, which is based on the abomination of the undead construct body, through technical simplification and cost reduction, is that it is resistant to beating! Very resistant to beating! Extreme anti-beating! The skeleton made of steel provides enough internal support for the flesh golem, and the large amount of flesh piled up on the body provides it with a thick external defense, which, combined with the effect of death on the flesh, makes the flesh golem more than 5 strong in its epidermis alone, and some weapons that are not sharp enough to even break through the skin of this monster.
However, the downside is also obvious, as the large and bloated size of the flesh golem reduces the movement speed of the golem to an unbearable level, which is only slightly better than that of zombies. In addition, creating a flesh puppet requires a large amount of flesh and blood, which is also one of the reasons why Yu Bin feels a little unacceptable.
The Golem, on the other hand, was developed entirely by a group of players with big brains in the previous life, and this class was once in the early stages of the Abyss Invasion, but due to various reasons, it quickly declined.
The technology of making golems, Yu Bin has not forgotten. The Golem was based on Dalaran's magical guards, but unlike the well-made and versatile magical guards, the Golem was more like a shoddy product of third-rate craftsmen, this kind of thing with two large fists, completely constructed of clods of earth and metal, did not have too much control and intelligence, and the only thing it could do was to constantly wave its two arms, launching a continuous attack on the target in front of it, until the magic crystals buried in the golem's body were exhausted.
In the previous life, in the early days of the Abyss Invasion, in the face of various monsters from the Abyss, some players finally developed this class in order to ensure their safety.
But Yu Bin finally gave up the Golem, because the application of this kind of thing is extremely limited, and it is necessary to transport the Golem to the location where it needs to be fought in advance, and it can be considered when defending, but for Yu Bin at this stage, the Golem is the same as a zombie, and it is completely useless.
In the end, Yu Bin still chose the Necronomicon of the Undead Standard System as the main force of the 4th order, supplemented by another extremely special and powerful 4th order troop that is difficult to create and cultivate-White Bone Praetorian Guard.
The final form of this class is Plaguebringer, a small moving Plague Barrel, and Dread Dead, which can be seen as a necromancer who unleashes Crowd Dread. Despite its effectiveness, the biggest drawback of this class is that it is expensive and difficult to train.
