The White Lotus Sect was exterminated, and the Nichiren Sect was also greatly hit. For these people on the island of Shikoku, Nichiren Buddhism is a religion that is extremely palatable to their taste. These Iyo sailors are the lowest level of society, not the bottom of society. If it is the bottom of society, it is better to have a bottom identity, as the lowest level, there is not even a minimum identity. To put it more bluntly, the Nichiren sect is not opposed to studying the advanced content of Buddhism, but the Nichiren sect believes that even if you don't understand these things, it is not a problem, and as long as you can recite the five words of the Myoho-renge-kyo and recite it when you have nothing to do, you can achieve liberation.
It was very difficult for the Iyo Suijun, who could not read or write, to get them to read and write, but it was very easy to learn to recite the five characters of the Myoho-renge-kyo. If there is a method that is so easy to get liberation for free, it will not cost you anything to try it.
