55. Father and uncle
The sky started to rain.
Lightning made the cliff-top church light and dark.
It is a medium-sized church with a white façade with a cross on the spire and a porch light at the main entrance.
On the surface, it doesn't look dangerous.
Bai Ye walked along the cobblestone path towards the main entrance of the church, and when he got closer, he found that the main entrance was locked from the inside and could not be pushed open.
He made a contemplative gesture and walked around the side of the church, trying to find a way to get in.
The façade on the right side of the church appears to be being renovated, and undismantled scaffolding remains on it.
Bai Ye's eyes looked up along the scaffolding and found that there was a window open near the second floor.
He switched to an active stance and climbed onto the scaffolding nimbly.
Entering through the window, you can see the nave of the church below, with more than a dozen rows of benches, a small pulpit at the front, and behind the pulpit is the crucified Jesus.
βοΌβ
There was a woman dressed as a nun kneeling in front of the small pulpit, as if praying.
Bai Ye climbed down from the scaffolding inside, and his movements were very light, until he went down to the ground without alarming the nun.
He looked at the nave and noticed a small door on the left and right sides, presumably leading to the rear area of the church.
However, if you want to go to those two gates, you will be the first to enter the nun's sight.
It seems that there is no way to avoid it. β
He simply walked up to the nun, secretly vigilant in his heart.
As he got closer, he noticed that the nun's body was trembling slightly, and her voice seemed to be muttering something in her mouth.
"Excuse me......"
Bai Ye stopped three meters away from the nun and asked directly.
The nun's body shuddered violently, and she slowly turned her head.
It was a young woman, with an ordinary appearance, a lot of bruises on her face, and a very panicked expression.
This man is different from the villagers. β
It's easy to tell, the villagers are all fanatical and twisted faces.
"You...... Are you an outsider? β
The nun stared at Bai Ye for a while, then asked tentatively.
Bai Ye noticed a slight surprise on her face.
Bai Ye nodded: "I'm a TV reporter, and I'm here to investigate a case of a college student's disappearance......"
Before he could finish his words, the nun hurriedly pointed to herself:
"I'm one of those college students...... Please, please get me out! β
"I can't find my way out, and ......"
Bai Ye shook his head and said, "Those crazy villagers have captured my companion, I must find him first and rescue him." β
The nun got up from the ground, took two steps closer to Bai Ye, and said eagerly: "All the outsiders who are caught will be sent to an abandoned sewing machine factory behind the mountain, your companion should be there, but ......"
"Just what?"
Although he knew that Ding Ri had escaped from the basement, Bai Ye still wanted to learn more clues about this scene from his sister's mouth.
"There lived the son of the Gruskin family, who ...... He was a very terrible psychopath. β
Sister Paper's body trembled a little when she said this.
"He's going to torture the outsiders in a special way, Luther, John, they're ...... They were all killed by him. β
At this, the nun began to weep.
The old sewing machine factory was also mentioned in the previous note. β
Bai Ye remembered the note that Old Hansen had left in the drawer, which mentioned that the Gruskin family also had an uncle and a father who was a bishop.
"Do you know how to get out of here?"
Since the nun was not killed or restricted in her freedom, it means that she has gained the trust of the Gruskin family.
The nun nodded, and pointed to the small door on the right: "From this door you can go out, past the church's cemetery, you will see a path down the hill, from where you can escape." β
"But the door was locked by Bishop Maurice, and he carried the key with him, and you must obtain the key before you can open it."
Sure enough, the game system doesn't let the player go so easily......
Just then, a voice came from outside the door on the left, and someone was walking towards the nave.
"Hide!"
The nun's face changed, and she hurriedly reminded Bai Ye.
"It's bad if they find out."
Bai Ye glanced around and noticed that there were several confession rooms near the small door on the right.
He hurriedly walked over and dodged into one of the confession rooms.
A few seconds later, the door on the left was heard with the sound of a key turning.
The door opened, and four or five men entered.
Through the curtain of the confession room, Bai Ye noticed that the leader was an old man in his sixties and seventies, wearing a black and red bishop's robe, with a striking hooked nose, and a spicy expression.
Beside him was a hunchbacked man with long hands and feet, covered in animal skins, and carrying a wooden bow and a bag of arrows on his back.
The man was ugly, with a lump on his face, a long tongue, and a dangerous look in his eyes.
The rest of the people were ordinary villagers, and Bai Ye saw that one of the villagers had a collapsed nose, his face was covered in blood, and he was wearing repairman's suspenders.
These villagers are the ones who are searching the cornfields. β
"What are you doing here?"
Bishop Hooknose shouted at the nun, "Didn't you tell you to clean the room?" β
The nun trembled with fear, lowered her head, and walked briskly out of the open door.
Bishop Hooknose turned to face the villagers.
"A bunch of rubbish, even a person can't catch it!"
"That's a reporter from a big city, and if he is allowed to escape from here, things will not be good."
The sinknosed men did not dare to squeak in the face of the bishop's reprimand.
Bishop Hooknose turned sideways, facing the ugly man with the bow and arrow.
"Sam, that big reporter shouldn't be able to run far, you take this piece of garbage with you yourself, and you have to find him anyway."
The ugly man, Sam, stuck out his long tongue and licked his lips, a cruel smile on his face.
Then the group, including Bishop Hooknose, walked out through the small door in which they entered, but did not close it casually.

After the group was gone, Bai Ye walked out of the confession room.
Those two were the father and uncle of the Gruskins. β
It looks like Uncle Sam is a character who is not easy to deal with.
He shifted to a cautious stance and walked towards the small door on the left that was open.
'The key to the door was carried by the bishop, so is it up to me to steal it?' β
Outside the small door was a long hallway, and there were no lights along the way, which was gloomy and terrible.
Bai Ye turned on the night shooting function of the DV machine and cautiously walked deeper into the corridor.
'That uncle has already left with the villagers, right?' Are there only two bishops and nuns left in the church now? β
Thinking so, a fork in the road appeared.
Bai Ye stood at the fork in the road and hesitated.
'Where are you going?' β
He shifted his stance, but couldn't find any clues.
And just as he was about to choose a random direction to continue on, at the end of the road on the left, there was a sudden sound of whipping and screaming of women.
