Chapter 12: New Companions
Bellingis, the daughter of the former gnome mage Melhoth of the Thorn Adventures, learns from Grolaydon's introduction that her profession should be a thief part-time mage, and her personal abilities are more thieves, and her magical knowledge is as specialized in the illusion school that the dwarf race is naturally good at, as her late father is.
The young man received a handwritten letter from the old thief that night.
The next morning, after waiting only one night, the team received Dorothy's reply that the red-haired Miss Warlock had answered Urs with "yes".
She was not injured, and it seemed that she had only been thinking about it for half a night, and then she found the inn where the team was, and came alone to show that she was willing to accept the invitation of the group to be a member of the team.
The addition of the caster should have been a cause for joy, but Urs knew how bad Dorothy's mental state had been yesterday, and he couldn't help but be surprised to receive an answer so quickly.
He thought he would have to wait a few more days, and he wouldn't even be able to wait for a concrete answer before he set off.
Miss Warlock's explanation for this has her own ideas in it, but on the whole it seems to be just a compromise and struggle not to give up on herself.
She replied at the time:
"I want to find my father and there are a lot of things to ask him......"
But she couldn't tell what she wanted to ask Dambert about.
"I also want to travel with you guys, looking for ways to help me curb the frenzied fluctuations on my own......"
But she said it without confidence, her voice so low that it was barely audible, and she was deeply terrified of the magical turbulence within her.
"Of course, my spellcasting ability is very erratic, that's an indisputable fact. If you think I'm a nuisance, just throw me away, just like garbage, and I won't resent you......"
But she clearly doesn't really want to be discarded. She had already been blatantly discarded by her own father once, and the second experience might indeed make her not resentful, because a person who was completely emotionally broken would no longer be complete and unable to "resent".
That's Dorothy's answer.
Her eyes were dazed, dim, and dull, and the words that came out of her mouth did not sound to the ears of everyone as if they had not been organized through her own brain, and the fragility of paper dotted the beautiful face, and the crow saw through her soul, which had lost its direction in the depths of her heart.
But the poet naturally didn't say anything, as she always did, and the curvature of the corners of her mouth was faintly outlined under the hood of the black robe. She was quite interested in this, and silently looked forward to what kind of sad or redemptive end such a poor person would usher in?
Stonefist adheres to the discipline of the team, and as long as Urs says to accept the red-haired girl, there will be no objections.
Thea and Kotto expressed their kindness during the conversation, and both involuntarily comforted Dorothy, although the effect of their comfort did not seem to be obvious.
Urs had the final say, and he could use the red-haired girl's vulnerability as an excuse to regret it on the spot, but the young man didn't think it was necessary, and finally listened to Dorothy's words, and after thinking about it for a while, he kept the original idea and officially accepted her on behalf of the team.
After receiving Dorothy and bidding farewell to Gloriden, the number of the team remained at six, and the composition of the team changed slightly.
In this way, one more day passed, the twelfth day of the month of flower dawn—
Located along the estuary of the Southern River in the eastern plain of Okazawa, Casey Harbor is a natural harbor that "sinks" into the land, and is attached to the jurisdiction of Twilight City in the form of a harbor town.
The Thorn Squad, led by Urs, packed up their belongings and set out from Twilight, arriving at the harbor town on the afternoon of the 12th, where they found a local inn to stay in, and after dinner, found an alley in the town at an address pointed out in passing by Grohledon in his letter.
The alley had nothing to do with the bustle, just like a street in the slums of Twilight, but it looked slightly better than the garbage heaps of the poor at the bottom, at least the brick pavement of the street was relatively neat and flat, and the cleanliness of the environment was not very clean, so that the noses of the visitors were not attacked by the foul smell.
Anyway, they finally found a house at the address, in a poorly lit corner of the alley, where a closed iron-clad wooden door appeared in everyone's field of vision along with the sunset on the horizon.
Urs stood at the front of the group, looking back at his companions, Thea, Raven, Stonefist, Koto, and the new Dorothy, the red-haired Miss Warlock in a voluminous robe, holding a staff that didn't look much different from a normal stick, and shrunk in silence and low-key on the tail of the group.
The wide robe was a +1 enchanted robe, a standard crafting style and enchantment technique, and the young man could recite the equipment attributes of the robe at a glance, in addition to providing the wearer with a +1 resistance bonus from the spell exemption test, the remaining function was to disguise her unremarkable silhouette, helping her to reduce some of the purely harassing nature of her when she walked down the street.
In addition to the robe, Miss Warlock's cane has +2 enchantment, which allows her to cast two more 0~2 ring spells every day, which is now erected on the ground by her to support her body balance, with her subconsciously buried very low head, so that the fiery red long hair falls down and half-covers the image of the face, in the eyes of the uninformed, it is strange that there is a little bit of mystery of the so-called spellcaster.
Although she only buried her gaze because of low self-esteem.
During the journey from Twilight to Casey Harbor, the team had become accustomed to the pessimism that seemed to emanate from her all the time.
Urs looked back at her more, sighed helplessly, then turned his gaze back to the door of the hut, stepped forward and reached out and knocked, "Knock knock" three times—
"Who?" Soon, a little girl's voice came back from the room, and it sounded in line with Gloridon's description of the crowd.
"Is that Miss Bellinglis, please?" The young man stood in front of the door and took a half step back, "We are friends with Gloriden. ”
"Uncle Gloridon?" The voice behind the door paused for a moment, then showed a hint of surprise.
"Yes, he recommended us to come to you." Urs replied, taking out the old thief's evidence, "Here is his letter of introduction. ”
