Chapter Fifty-Six: The Snake Council
14:19
Orianna ran down the deserted hallway, streamer-like spells shooting out from behind her, leaving afterimages in the air. From time to time, her body would shake violently, and layers of water-like ripples appeared on the surface of her back after being hit.
Around the corner, she glanced behind her.
Eight people.
In addition to the one guy who carried Carlo to the school hospital, there were eight others sent by the Ministry of Magic to guard the castle. All experienced Aurors, Orianna was not a great wizard like Dumbledore or the Mystic who could stand up to an army on his own. Of course, there is no chance of winning against so many people head-on, in fact, in the battle between ordinary wizards, without cover, it is almost impossible for the opponent to win with more than three people, even if you drink the potion and grow a few more arms that can cast spells with a wand, it is useless.
Although the accuracy of the opponent's spell has been greatly reduced through vigorous exercise, considering that the opponent's salvo will hit at least one, it is probably only a matter of time before the iron armor spell on Oriana's body is broken.
But even so, Oriana didn't seem to have any intention of engaging them, she just kept running, tearing open a loose leaf along the way, and using spells shorthand in runes to add a little trouble to the pursuers behind her. Invisible walls of air, suddenly collapsing stone slabs, and fireballs suspended in the air...... It was a piece of cake for the Aurors, but it also effectively delayed their time.
She had at least two or three chances to completely disappear from the Aurors' sight, and the main reason why she didn't do so was because she was afraid that the guys would choose to divide their forces and chase after them, or go directly downstairs to ask Madame Maxim for help. Either way, it would affect Oriana's actions in the future, and she didn't want these extraneous factors to interfere with her.
So in order for them to focus on themselves thoroughly, Oriana had to use herself as bait and create the illusion that they could catch up with them just a few steps away, so as to attract them to keep chasing them.
until you reach your destination.

"This is probably the most beautiful suspect we've ever arrested......"
On the way to the pursuit, the Aurors joked with each other.
"And the most shrewd and cunning, you'd better not be careless. Flote. Old York added, "Don't you notice that, as an exchange student from England, she seems to know more about the construction of the castle than we old men who graduated from Beauxbatons." Take a look at her escape routes, they were definitely in her plan - all of them were nodes that led in all directions, and there was no possibility of reaching a dead end. β
"So, she's gone to great lengths to understand Beauxbatons' structure......" The Auror, known as Flot, frowned, firing a stun spell at the figure in front of him. It's a bit suspicious. β
"Of course." Charles, who was part of the team for trace analysis, said, "I've confirmed that this girl and Mary had fought in that storeroom, and that the runes and handwriting on the loose-leaf cards that had been resolved from the door were exactly the same as those found in the ballroom that night. She's supposed to be the cloaked freak that is rumored in the castle, but - by all glances, she doesn't look like a random killer. Ouch! β
Charles slammed into an invisible wall in the air and fell headlong to the ground.
"So, don't be fooled by the criminal's looks, Charles." Old York said, waving his wand and lifting the barrier spell that was exposed to him. "She's from England, have you heard of a Death Eater named Bellatridge Lestrange during the Mysterio's time?"
Charles shook his head and stood up, quickly following them.
"That Death Eater is pretty much the same as the girl in front of you - I fought against her when I was aiding the British Ministry of Magic, and of course, I was a newcomer at the time, and Lestrange knocked me unconscious with just one move." Old York taught his Aurors that "the more beautiful a woman is, the more vicious she is, as my grandfather said." β
Of course, he was immediately attacked by his teammates.
"That's why you married a black wife, sir? Ha ha. Your grandfather must have been dumped by beautiful women in the past~"
Although they said that they were vigilant, in fact, these Aurors were still very relaxed, in this castle that could not use apparition, even Madame Maxim, who was the strongest on paper, could not escape the tracking and entanglement of their team, let alone a girl who had not yet graduated.
After about three or four minutes, they stopped. It's not that the girl who tracked was lost, but ......
Turning a corner, Orianna was standing.
She glanced meaningfully at the Aurors behind her, then smiled, hooked her fingers, and strode into the classroom next to her.
"Boss, she's ......"
"Stay vigilant." Old York raised his wand. "Didn't you hear her say before, she's going to be waiting for us in the Transfiguration Classroom. There's got to be weird here, maybe this girl has another accomplice - at least I don't believe she's brave enough to provoke herself in front of a heavily armed Auror squad! β
He waved his hand, and the seven of them followed him to the door of the classroom, which was the Transfiguration Classroom, one of the few large classrooms in Beauxbatons that could accommodate more than 100 people.
"Alan, Flot, you two set up the Prison Circle. Dorothy, cast a disillusionment spell on everyone. Charles, hand over your bootlegged. β
The named Charles reluctantly pulled what looked like a big dung egg out of his bosom, and after everyone had finished getting ready, Old York removed the tab from the object and threw it into the classroom. After a while, there was a soft sound inside, and a breeze like a breeze blew out of it.
"It's strange that there aren't any magic traps installed?" Old York said with some surprise.
"Boss, are you too suspicious, my divination shows that there is only one person here." Dorothy behind her fiddled with her crystal ball, "She's probably just too tired to run, so she plans to resist here......"
"It's best to be cautious, only if you are alive can you have a chance to export, this is what my grandfather said." Old York listened to the movement inside, and then pointed to the door. "Let's go in, Flot, you stay and run the magic circle. If you notice anything outside, just shout a warning. β
Completely instructed, under the leadership of Old York, seven men took care of it in twos and twos, and walked in carefully.
ββββββββ
The moment the last Auror entered the classroom, the door behind him slammed shut. The loud sound made the Aurors subconsciously point their wands at them, but there was no one there, or rather...... In the entire classroom, there was not a single person in sight.
"It's impossible, my divination results can't be wrong." Dorothy's sideburns were sweating, "And didn't you see it with your own eyes, that girl walked in right under our noses!" β
"Quiet, I know, but now is not the time to talk about that." Old York stopped her just in time, and he walked to the door and fumbled around the frame. "Flote! How's it going over there! β
No one answered. There was a dead silence in the room, as if it was completely cut off from the outside world.
"Alaho Cave Open!" Old York waved his wand and said, blue light flashed on the doorknob, he twisted it, and found that it still didn't work.
"What's going on? We're trapped? Charles said worriedly, wand in hand.
"For the time being." Old York said, and he fired another shattering spell at the gate. It was a shattering spell, but it only left a shallow pit in the top of the door - he seemed to hear a faint sound, maybe a human voice, or maybe not. After a while, the little crater gradually recovered.
"It's the Rune Array." Old York said with a solemn face, "If I'm right, this place should have been set up by that girl a long time ago, remember that loose-leaf card?" It should be hidden everywhere by now. We're probably running into hard stubble. β
"So what are we going to do?" Charles began to tense.
"Don't get excited, as long as it is a rune array, it must need to maintain the magic power, which means that the girl must stay here to maintain the magic of this position. She must be hiding somewhere hereβmaybe stealth, maybe something. Alan, let your snake out! β
"It didn't work...... Padiano had just signaled to me, and he couldn't find any other heat source here. The warning spell also found no trace of the Cloak of Invisibility or the Transfiguration Charm. Alan said, the tongue of a piebald snake peeking out of his arms, hissing and spitting out the letter.
"What the hell are we doing?" Old Yorke suppressed the faint irritability in his heart and said loudly. "Everyone dispersed, searched the room, and reported any obvious signs of runes. Be careful, all means of detection have failed, and there may be other dangers here. β
As he spoke, the seven of them dispersed and probed into the huge room of the lecture hall.
Circular staircases, rows of long tables and chairs, and cabinets lined with walls are all that is there in the classroom. Old York searched very carefully. He didn't even spare a small drawer the size of a palm, but it contained pins or glass balls needed for Transfiguration. There was a faint aura of magic in the space, but no matter how old York perceived it, there was no way to find the source.
As he passed by a row of seats, he finally noticed something strange.
He noticed a man lying on the seat in that row.
To be precise, it should be a shoddy dummy. There are no clothes, no facial features, and if it weren't for the high bulge of its chest, Old York probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between its front and back.
And what made Old York a little creepy was that this dummy actually had words written on his body. Moreover, it is a word that he is very familiar with.
Dorothy.
"Dorothy!" He immediately shouted, "And a few of you, come here." β
β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦
There was a dead silence, and the long-lost uneasiness was suddenly magnified in Old York's heart. He looked up in a panic, then stunned by the sight in this room.
Six dummies, almost identical to those in their seats, were surrounding him, and their faceless faces were facing him, as if they were watching him.
They all had words written on them - Flotte, Allen, Charles......
All of them are the names of the members of this Auror Squad.
"Ahhhhh!!!h Old York screamed and rushed out of the dummy's encirclement, he touched the dummy's arm, the cold and slippery texture made his scalp tingle, and the dummies moved slowly behind him, little by little.
Old York was cornered...... Horrified looking at the horror in all directions.
The pale arm slowly stretched out towards him.
In the moment when he was about to catch him, he finally broke down. The wand shot a spell in all directions, and Old York screamed.
"Don't come, don't come!!!"
The next moment, the heavens and the earth turned upside down, and darkness and tiredness came like a tide. Old York's head tilted, and he fell into a deep sleep. Tears of fright still flowed down his beard......
I don't know how long it took for the classroom to finally change.
Oriana emerged from the air, her expression weak and painful, one hand clutching her lower abdomen, which had been struck by Old York's indiscriminate Burning Charm. "Thankfully, this guy finally fell, and his willpower was beyond my imagination......"
Around her, there were all the sleeping figures of the Aurors. All of them frowned, their faces pale, as if they were going through something absolutely terrifying. Oriana gestured, and the classroom seemed to shake slightly, and then something that had been hidden emerged from the void.
Runes, all runes, classroom walls, desks, chairs, ceilings...... This is the rune position that Orianna has spent a morning carefully arranging.
"Hmm...... Is the 'Snake Council' so strong, incredible, incredible. "Like a snake devouring its own tail, bewitched by the most fearful things in its heart, and caught in an endless cycle of dreams that I frightened myself, well, it's too much of a drain." β
Her pale face was covered with sweat, and after only five minutes of running the rune array called the "Ring Serpent Council", she had squeezed almost all of her magic power, and at this moment Orianna was suffering from the double pain of magic exhaustion and burns in her lower abdomen.
But she still didn't choose to stop, nor did she let out a muffled snort, but walked out with a determined step, and outside the door, the only Auror who was not defeated by the Rune Array was lying unconscious.
What a miserable fellow. Just because he saw the lock picking spell and opened the door curiously, he was inexplicably blown to the chest by his own people's smashing spell, at least a third of the bones in his body were broken...... However, it really saves a lot of effort.
Thinking to herself, Oriana grabbed him by the ankle and dragged him into the classroom with great difficulty. Then she walked out and took a deep breath.
"Tom." There was a soft thud.
The door was slammed shut.
