Chapter 31: Abnormal Human Observation Report (Part II)
Luna didn't seem to be perfunctory to those girls, these two were really planning to find some kind of Weasel. Hermione thought it was silly to watch them walk by the corner where they used to feed the wild cats, and then muttering and biting their ears in the direction of the edge of the school. Luna, of course, had advertised her set to herself, that only a brainless stupid hat like Brandy would believe that it really existed, a magical creature that could tell people eight hundred miles away.
Hell, Sarf's theoretical grades are so good that she actually believes Luna's crazy words......
At seven o'clock in the evening, when the sun was still making its final struggle between the mountains, it was at its most dazzling and gorgeous, gilding everything at Hogwarts. Two little golden figures walked far ahead, Hermione hanging behind her in an invisibility cloak. The wind was soft today, and she didn't have to worry about the invisibility cloak being blown up, but it was still getting harder and harder for her to walk—it wasn't a castle with tiles, and the rustle of leather shoes on dead grass and new shoots was particularly noticeable in the empty and lonely fields.
Thanks to the fact that the two people in front of them seemed to talk to the point, the volume gradually increased in size.
“… I really should have sent a letter to my father. Luna's excited voice blew into Hermione's ears with a breeze, "I didn't expect you to know about zombie bugs!" So where can we find it? Can it really control a human corpse to jump into the water? ”
Sarf said that her voice was generally cringe, but I don't know if it involved her area of expertise, and this time she seemed very calm when she spoke. "Zombie bugs do exist, but I don't know if they can control corpses, the zombie bugs I know are just small bugs, and they are the main ingredient used to make living corpses - they mostly grow in damp tombs, and they must be some years old. I know of several places where there may be growth... But it's hard to say if those places are still there. Your father is so powerful that he knows such a strange knowledge...... There's also the scimitar-horned snorer and the heart-listening ferret we're looking for, neither of which I've heard of. ”
Zombie bugs?
Hermione leaned over on tiptoe curiously, trying not to make too much noise. It's not that she's boasting, she's read at least thirty or forty books about magical creatures in the library, but it's the first time she's come across the word in her memory.
Even it is known that it is the main material used to make living corpses...... Sarf didn't sneak into the forbidden book area to read the book, this kind of forbidden thing must only be found there.
Not far away, Luna stopped, and she turned around, as if to take a closer look at Sarf. In fact, Luna would have chosen to look anyone in the eye, but this time it lasted for an extra long time. After a while, she withdrew her gaze.
"Thank you, Sarph, for being the second person to tell me this."
"What?" Sarf tilted her head, looking puzzled.
It was getting a little darker, and Luna's expression was too unclear, but she must have been very happy. Because she didn't explain the question that Sarf raised. Instead, he threw himself at Sarf and rubbed her face hard in a frustrated scream.
Further on is the Forbidden Forest, which is not a place for first-year students to enter, and Luna seems to be eager to try it, but Selph is clearly a law-abiding little girl, and they stop at the edge of the Forbidden Forest.
"Brandi said I want to be obedient and not run around......" Salph pleaded, grabbing Luna, who was leaning her neck and curiously leaning inside, looking at her in embarrassment. It's fine here, and if there's a weasel in this wood, they'll tell me. ”
Hermione didn't quite understand what Sorph meant by them, if she understood them in a parseltongue - she was going to call out the snakes in the Forbidden Forest for questioning?
Naturally, Luna didn't embarrass her best friend, she nodded solemnly, and then sat down on the ground, not caring if the still wet dirt would stain her robes. She lowered the cloth bag in her hand and loosened the tied rope.
Then under Hermione's shocked gaze, Salph pulled out her wand—she had never seen such a rough wand.
Almost all the wands she'd ever seen had at least a handle, and some of the most well-made ones had delicate patterns—though Ollivander said they weren't really useful. What's more, Brandi's wand glows every time he recites some ultra spell since it was repaired, like a conspicuous target.
But Salph's was different, Hermione didn't see any features from it that matched the wand, and if she had to look for similarities, it was all wooden sticks......
A slightly curved brownish-yellow stick, about twelve inches or so, was so rudimentary that it was impossible to tell which side was the head and which was the tail—it looked like a branch that had been broken off from a tree.
And voila! Salph to chant a spell?
Hermione blinked, her face full of incredulity. Now the whole castle knows that Ravenclaw has a cute-looking and silly nerd in second year, who does well in his studies, but is a squib. The first-year students had also guessed that Sorph had entered Hogwarts through connections - of course, after Sorph was rumored to be the heir of Slytherin, they stopped saying so.
Could it be that she deceived the whole school?
…… To Hermione's disappointment, Sorph didn't look like she was chanting a spell at all, but rather a whispered prayer. She closed her eyes, muttering strange syllables softly in her mouth, and the wand in her hand didn't move, and certainly didn't react, not even the slightest fluctuation in her magic - she could already vaguely sense the presence of magic since Hermione's magic had grown so much.
Luna didn't seem surprised by Salph's actions at all, she tilted her head, a look of envy in her wandering eyes. "I envy your talent, Sharf." She spoke softly, her voice as soft as the breeze on her face.
"If I could trade my magical talents for your abilities, I wouldn't hesitate to do so. Really, I would love to hear even a little bit about my mom and dad from Willie on the grass in front of my house - it lived there before I was born and must know a lot about mom...... I didn't want to ask my dad, even if he was willing to tell me. I know he's still grieving his mother's death. ”
The wind blew up the dead leaves of a few grassy fields that had been silent for a winter, and swept away the faint sobbing sound of the empty place. Immersed in pity, Hermione subconsciously thought that Willy was a pet snake raised by Lovegood's family, witnessing the happy past of Luna's parents - but after a few minutes of silence, she knew she was wrong, and she was wrong.
Sharf wasn't lying, but she did manage to fool everyone in the castle.
She's not as simple as a parseltongue!
Suddenly there were shadows in the secluded Forbidden Forest, and then suddenly, countless magical creatures came out of the forest from which they never left for the first time:
The big blue bird, which is two or three feet long, sprinkles starlight dust when it waves its wings, and looks very much like an enlarged version of Fawkes;
The beautiful and flowing unicorn stepped forward and fell to her knees beside Salph, followed by two golden neighing cubs;
Spiders the size of a basin crawled all over the trunks of the trees, and the same Brandi and Padma they once chased jumped up and down;
A few small rat-like creatures stumbled up to the crouched Salph, babbling and jumping into her arms...... Then Yale, who was grinding his teeth in his backpack, jumped out in fright;
When a goblin ran at her feet, Hermione's head was completely blank.
Is this Sralph's talent, even beyond Slytherin's...... The talent to be able to talk to all magical creatures?
………………
When Hermione had been sorting out her messy head for a long time, she found herself following Salph and Luna back - the magical creatures came and went as fast as they could, and after agreeing to Sorve's request to help her find a way to detect the thoughts of other creatures (she hadn't heard Sorve speak at the time, only that Sorf explained later when Luna asked), she hurried back to where they should be. The sacks of food were lifted upside down, and the two little unicorns with potatoes in their mouths always looked back with reluctance, and then their elders impatiently pushed their heads back into the woods.
…… How do I remember, unicorns don't seem to eat potatoes?
Hermione banged on her head, feeling like her worldview had been overturned.
On the way back, they finally remembered Luna's leather shoes, and it was already dark, and the two of them had been wandering around the lake for a long time before they found them on a small two-story tree. The first-year girls' levitation charms didn't seem to be enough to send their shoes higher, and Luna easily retrieved them - her spells were really good, not at all like the level of a normal first-year freshman.
If she didn't know exactly what kind of person Luna was, she would probably suspect that Luna was the bad guy who followed them into the vault that day. She firmly believes that only after drinking the awakening potion can she be able to use the supermagic prefix in the first year...... Except, of course, Brandi.
Following them back to the castle and trotting all the way to the Ravenclaw common room, Hermione saw for the first time the Ring who had nothing to do and liked to ask weird questions. After Luna answered the stupid question of what could only be added or subtracted, Hermione managed to sneak into the common room after them—Pull Ring was visibly aware of something, and as she stepped into the doorway, she felt the door flutter slightly.
I don't know why the pull ring didn't reveal her.
Lisa Dupin kept her promise, where she had been waiting for a long time.
