Chapter 40: The Eastern Desert

Passing through the edge of the misty forest, the land becomes barren.

The Misty Forest is a special place, where there is a certain 'Dead Demon Zone', which is simply a place where the Elemental Energy Chaos Demon Net is covered with loopholes, and the caster will be affected here, and it is possible that the spell will fail or even be confused. Most of these places are very dangerous, because there is strong energy radiation, and powerful mutated creatures are prone to appear. The depths of the Misty Forest are the places where the gods have fallen, and a god with a once powerful divine power has fallen here, and there are very few people who have been able to enter it so far.

This is difficult even for the Sages incarnated by the gods, and only a few legendary druids can connect there with dreams.

There were a few bits and pieces of rumors back then.

It is rumored that the depths of the misty gods are connected to a certain divine kingdom, which is a huge half-plane directly embedded in the material plane.

Unfortunately, no one has been able to confirm this.

………………

The wind and sand gradually became violent.

After entering the Gobi Desert, everything in front of you is gradually desolate, this Gobi is the territory of the jackals, and there are a lot of jackals active here. Many half-hung wild monsters in the hinterland of the continent, because of the harsh living environment, many of the jackals here have advanced to the profession. And here is the faith of the Abyss Lord 'King of the Gnolls' Yenogu, the Demon Lord of the 422nd Layer of the Bottomless Abyss, and one of the most powerful Gnolls.

Maybe it's not that powerful Abyss Lord, but no one can take it lightly.

Because its rivals are the Queen of Succubi and the King of the Minotaurs, it has been able to fight these two rivals for thousands of years without falling, either because it is really lucky, or it really has two hits.

The Gnoll King is not a very complicated Abyss Lord, as Sauron has been to its territory before.

Its goal throughout its life is to thrive the Gnoll race, and to that end it hunts as few weak creatures as it can, or plots against its enemies.

Unfortunately, gnolls are born to hunt for food, which dooms them to struggle to thrive in numbers.

A gust of wind blew.

The excellent tracking ability allowed the gnolls scouts to spot Sauron, who was walking alone in the Gobi Desert, carefully lurking behind them, communicating in a special way. Wise enough to make them understand that solo travelers are not so easy to deal with, but the thirst for flesh still makes them feel tempted.

Suck!

A sharp arrow flew out.

To avoid trouble, Sauron took out the Elven Warbow and shot an arrow into the shoulder of a gnoll scout, the arrow was deflected due to the direction of the wind, and it was supposed to be shot in the head.

A proper show of force can reduce trouble.

Whew!

There was a scream, and the gnolls finally realized that the target in front of them was not something they could deal with, and the creatures quickly retreated towards the Gobi Desert.

The further you enter the Gobi Desert, the fewer traces of the plant become.

Eventually, a desert began to appear in front of Sauron's eyes, and the yellow sand was so desolate that there was hardly any green in sight.

This is a catastrophe brought about by the Arcane Empire.

Many of the once glorious cities are now buried under yellow sand, also partly due to humans, who used to be so heavily cut down that the soil had eroded so much that no trace of vegetation could be seen.

Rivers dry up and the land desertifies.

Humans migrated from here after the over-destruction, leaving only a few other creatures to inhabit here.

Passing through this desert is the land of the East.

This is the largest desert in the physical plane, and even using flying spells can take days. Sauron's goal is in the interior of the desert, and for this he needs to find the city in the desert first.

Oasis!

Since the gradual deterioration of the environment, some of the most virtuous druids have come here.

They make up the legendary 'Shepherds', who have been creating zào green in this harsh desert for hundreds of years. This is quite a difficult thing to do, because the deteriorated environment is very difficult to repair, and there is still residual energy radiation in many places here. The Shepherds are another group of druids who rarely interfere in the affairs of the continent, and their task is to sow plants and build oases in the desert. These shepherds had a great reputation in the desert and were the ones who founded the oases on the eastern trade routes. (Note: Details are mentioned near the Elven Realm.) )

Finding an oasis is not easy.

It was also a strange environment for Sauron, who had to rely on flying to find his bearings and follow the traces of life in the desolation.

Day 1.

He had to spend the night in the sand dunes and then continue his journey at dawn.

As we gradually went deeper into the desert, there were some dilapidated buildings in front of us, which were as magnificent as the pyramids of Egypt, but unfortunately now they were dilapidated, and they were buried in yellow sand all around, and they could only dig a passage to enter. It was a dangerous thing, Sauron had been almost buried by quicksand, and the land beneath his feet, once a city, had become an ancient relic in the desert. Except for the occasional adventurer who wants to find his fortune, no one else will enter it lightly.

Because there are so many dangers in it.

The desert buried nearly a third of the cities of the Arcane Empire, including the ancient evil that had been sealed. Exploring this place is like exploring a city, which is a very big project, and many times you can't find a way out at all, so you can only dig a passage yourself. The most dangerous place is still in the eastern country, where there are many such ancient ruins under the monasteries of the warrior monks, many of which suppress terrible evil spirits.

Half a day passed like this.

Sauron's front finally appeared green, as he saw a river, a river in the desert.

On both sides of the bank are tall trees, very neatly arranged around the perimeter, which are not naturally grown, but artificially planted and transformed.

The work of the shepherds.

Finding a river meant that there was an oasis nearby, and Sauron couldn't help but quicken his pace and sped forward.

A wall made of sand and stone emerges.

A tall flagpole was erected at the gate, which had a very different scene from the hinterland of the mainland, and the whole town was surrounded by wind and sand on all sides. Instead of horses, the caravans traveled back and forth with camels carrying heavy loads, flanked by oriental merchants dressed in somewhat Arabic costumes. Many of the surrounding buildings are made of sand and stone, which looks rough and desolate.

Sauron entered the city in the desert.
