Chapter 57: The Ring of Frost (I)
Ten minutes later, Systm managed to crawl out of the snow using his tentacles.
As far as the eye can see, the surrounding area is already white, the snow has stopped, but the whole world is covered in ice and snow.
The branches above his head creaked due to the accumulation of snow and ice and the invasion of the cold wind, and Syst used his tentacles to move his body to a safe area to the side, so that the branches would not be crushed by the snow and hit his body.
In the process of moving his body, Systm crawled out of the snow and saw his current appearance clearly.
His body was very uneven because of the smaller abdomen, only about seventeen centimeters in length, the exoskeleton and wings covering the wings above the body were all gone, and the antennae seemed to have regrown, but only half the original length, and very fragile.
His shattered right eye had also grown, and Syst could feel a blurry glow in his right eye, and it was estimated that his blind eye would grow back after a while.
And the strangest thing about his body were the dozen or so tentacles that had grown out of his original limbs.
His current appearance is extremely ugly, if he doesn't say it himself, it is estimated that no one will believe that he is a grasshopper, in fact, even if he does, it is difficult for others to believe it.
Sistemm felt the cold wind blowing through the forest for a while, and the temperature on the ground was cooler than in the snow, but it didn't have much effect on his current body.
[Color-changing camouflage] activates!
The color of Systm's epidermis gradually lightened, and except for the brown tentacles, the rest of his body gradually turned a slightly grayish white, acting as a protective color for his body.
Due to the light weight of Systham's body, it is not difficult to walk on the snow surface by controlling his body with his tentacles without getting stuck in the snow.
After trying to walk on the snow for a while, moving his body, Systm reached out his tentacles and began to climb a nearby tree.
Unlike the limbs, the tentacles don't have those tiny barbs on them, making it a little more difficult to climb trees with them.
But Heatham now has too many tentacles.
Fifteen powerful tentacles of varying lengths were enough for Sistemm to do a lot of things.
Shorter tentacles can be inserted into gaps in the bark of trees for support, while longer tentacles can wrap directly around trees to help hold him in place.
At first, he wasn't very accustomed to climbing with his tentacles, but after getting used to them for a while, Heatham found that they weren't as good at climbing as his barbed feet and bouncing thighs, but they were also convenient enough.
After half an hour of practice, Systm can even move like an ape, swinging from branch to branch of a different tree while picking frozen leaves with other tentacles and putting them in his mouth to chew.
……
The forest had clearly changed after the snow, but compared to the footage in [Tools Menu], Sistemm had discovered where he was now.
It was about three kilometers from his makeshift lair, and at his current speed, Sistemm estimated that he would be able to return in a dozen hours.
Systm was worried about the soldier Sava and the ant people, and the food in the makeshift nest could be eaten for a long time, but the weather in the forest was too cold.
The impact of this heavy snow on the forest was stronger than the heavy rain that Systm had experienced, and the only sound in the forest was the sound of the cold wind clashing with the branches, and Sistemm could no longer hear any insect chirps.
Except for an unknown bird that flew by, Systm saw only tiny footprints in the snow, presumably from a creature like a rabbit or a mouse.
It seems that although the heavy snow dealt a fatal blow to the bugs, it did not cause too much damage to these small rodents.
Heatham followed the footprints for a while, and by observing Heathm, he found that the owner of the footprints was not large, and he could try to hunt.
But after searching for the footprints for a while, Systham found nothing, and the footprints came to an abrupt end at the root of a tree, apparently leaving footprints on a squirrel that could climb on trees.
However, as a result of this squirrel's tracking, Systm has an unexpected catch - a spider that has been frozen.
The black spider was curled up under a tree branch, apparently frozen to death while hiding from the snow.
Systm used his tentacles to tear the spider's abdomen into small pieces and put it in his mouth to chew.
Systham had expected this frozen corpse to be hard, but it didn't taste much different from a living spider, whose soft belly melted in his mouth with a slight bite, just like eating ice cream.
As he swallowed the spider's corpse, a warm current appeared in Systham's stomach, a nutritious flesh that restored Heatham's strength a lot.
After a moment of hesitation, Sistemm tore off the spider's venom gland and put a small piece in his mouth.
The spider's venom glands ultimately failed to hurt Systham, but instead made his body feel comfortable, and the rich smell of coffee lifted Systm's spirits and made his perception of his surroundings clearer.
……
Eating the spider's corpse bit by bit, Systm didn't waste the spider's corpse at all, even if there was some unpalatable fluff on the spider's body, he swallowed it.
And just as Systm devoured the last piece of flesh from the spider's corpse, his body trembled slightly, and [intuition] suddenly brought a sense of unease to Heatham.
Syst used his tentacles to turn his body, and at a height of thousands of meters in the direction of his blind eye, a black bird appeared with its wings spread out for about half a meter.
The blackbird had a pair of sharp talons, an eagle-like beak, and piercing eyes.
Systham knew that the carnivorous Black Hawk had spotted him.
Subconsciously using his tentacles, Systm decisively moved directly under the branches, hiding his body to avoid the attacks of birds in the sky.
It didn't take long, though, for Systm to move his body back from under the branches, exposing him to the black birds' view.
Because of the ability of [super-fast digestion], it didn't take long for the spider's corpse to be swallowed before it was quickly dissolved by the digestion in his abdomen and used to restore his vitality.
Systm stared at the black birds in the air, his chelica unconsciously drooling.
The blackbird may have wanted to prey on him, but he was hungry too......
A dozen tentacles of varying lengths, along with [Corrosive Slime] and the newly acquired ability of [Frost Breath], gave Sistemm the courage to fight the other side.
And his [intuition] was only a hint of unease, not the tension of an impending mortal crisis.
I don't know why, Sistemm felt that this blackbird was not his opponent, there was no reason and basis, he just felt that this blackbird could not fight him.
If one of his fights with the blackbird will die, then it must be the blackbird who dies.
Systm shook his tentacles, moving his body to a prominent position in the woods, and shaking his body non-stop.
The black eagle apparently spotted him again, and it wasn't long before it fell from the sky at high speed and flew in his direction—
Heatham noticed that his chelica was dripping again......
With the exception of the two tentacles wrapped around the branches, Systm extended his remaining tentacles in the direction that Black Hawk was coming from, protecting his body.
Along with the falling talons of the Black Hawk, the tentacles of Sistem's blocking were like leather bands, and like springs, blocking the eagle's talons from his body.
The Black Hawk's talons didn't touch Systham's body, and Heatham's body flew up with the claws and tentacles, as a cloud of brown gum and ice blue breath erupted from his mouth......
The brown gum was faster, and it hit Black Hawk's head first, and the Sith directly controlled the mucus gel to squirm towards Black Hawk's eyes!
Immediately afterward, the frosty breath that Sistemm breathed also followed, and a layer of frost appeared on the head of the Black Hawk......
[Corrosive Slime] is in conflict with [Frosty Slime], and Heatham finds that when [Frosty Slime] sprays onto the slime he spits out, his slime freezes and stiffens, losing the ability to wriggle.
But it doesn't matter anymore......
Even though the two abilities clashed, Black Hawk still took a lot of damage, falling from the air on the snow not far away, and was obviously caught off guard by Sisstem's sudden attack.
Seeing this, Systm immediately moved over with his tentacles.
He first wrapped his two longest tentacles around the Black Hawk's wings to make it impossible for the Black Eagle to fly, and then used more tentacles to wrap around the joints of the Black Hawk's body, and as a dozen tentacles circled back and forth, the Black Hawk's fluttering movements in the snow became smaller and smaller......
Systham once again squirts [corrosive slime] at Blackhawk's head, and controls the viscous gum to squirm towards Blackhawk's mouth.
Systm is going to plug Black Hawk's throat with this sticky gelatin, causing it to suffocate to death!
Time passed little by little, and Black Hawk's struggle for suffocation became more and more intense, and just as Systham was about to kill Black Hawk and have a good time, his [intuition] came with an inexplicable feeling again.
An ice-blue pillar of light the thickness of a human finger suddenly descended from the sky.
This ice-blue pillar of light pierced through Systham's body, freezing the black hawk beneath Systm into an ice lump, but Heatham's body was not affected in the slightest.
Systm found that there was a baby's fist-sized ice-blue ball of light floating in the sky two meters away from him, and the ice-blue pillar of light just now was obviously the masterpiece of this ball of light......
