Chapter 101: A Week Later
The next morning, Cedric's family packed up and left, in fact Lady Diggory did not come, she was busy cleaning up the house, the garden was about to overflow, and Lady Diggory was not interested in Quidditch, and did not have her own son to participate in the game, which did not attract her.
"We've got to hurry, Cedric, your mother must be in a hurry at home, I'm afraid the news has spread through the wizarding world by this time."
Mr. Diggory, with his short brown beard and unshaven face, pale and haggard, dragged his tired body and "Cedric" to pack up the tent and luggage, and the two of them carried them together to the swamp where the portkeys were collected.
"When did you get such a raven?"
As he walked, Amos looked with interest over the shoulders of Cedric, where stood a glittering raven covered in pitch-black feathers, looking energetic and agile.
"Ah, last night, when I was chasing it, I saw Harry and them attacked-"
Hearing this, Amos's face became sad again, and his mind was not on the raven, but he instructed:
"Hmm...... Then you have to cultivate well...... In the past, many wizards liked to raise ravens...... They're smart ......"
The morning fog still looked like it couldn't be dispersed, and a large number of wizards ran to the swamp in panic, everyone wanted to get out of here quickly, and last night was like a nightmare, which became a big rock that could not be moved.
The rumors spread faster than the fog, and most people believed the most common version of the story - it was an organized, premeditated Death Eater event led by the young wizard Ning An who had caused a sensational incident at Hogwarts a year earlier.
"He's joined the Death Eaters, too?"
"Yes, it's terrible - a young and talented wizard who has become a Death Eater......"
"I heard he came out of Slytherin?"
"To be exact, I've only been studying for two years, but I've been able to use a lot of terrifying magic, what a terrible kid......"
It was the whispering of two witches in pointed bowls who hurried past Amos and Cedric, rubbing their arms together as they discussed, as if to warm them up.
"Supposedly to hunt down Mr. Lanz's daughter, I was there last night, and Mr. Lantz's face was very ugly - I was really worried about him"
"S-really? But why hurt Miss Lantz? β
"She used to be ...... too"
These were two young wizards, who seemed to be employees of the Ministry of Magic.
"Do you know who was attacked last night?"
"I've heard about Mr. Lanzis, Weasleys, and Diggory- ah- hey, Amos, are you okay, I heard what happened last night-"
"Thank you for your concern, Modi, we're fine, everything is fine, thank you thank you-"
Mr. Amos seemed to know the man who came in front of him, but the relationship was not necessarily any better, and the man seemed to come together just to find out more about what had happened last night, but was quickly sent away by Amos.
"You can't guess who else - it's Harry Potter!"
ββ¦β¦β
The two of them had already walked away, and the voices of their voices were gradually becoming indistinct, and the number of people gathered around them was increasing, and wizards from all over the world were mixed together, and it was no longer clear whether English or any other language was being spoken in the crowd.
"Hey, your claws scratch my shoulder a little bit."
Pani took advantage of Mr. Diggory's efforts to get the portkey, and turned his head to complain to the raven on his shoulder, whose eyes were closed.
Ning An slowly opened his small black eyes the size of a bean, and looked directly at Pani, there were many people here who were inconvenient to speak, and he thought that it would be prudent for Pani to talk to him like this, so the iron hook-like claws used some force.
"Hiss-"
Pani took a breath of cool air, but he seemed to understand the attitude that Ning An wanted to express, and he couldn't help but scream, Ning An also slowly relaxed his claws, he grabbed so tightly just because he was napping just now, in case he accidentally fell off someone's shoulder, it would be too big.
"Let's go, Cedric, we're not going back with Arthur, they're already gone first."
Just then Mr. Diggory returned, with an old can in his hand, and the two of them went to the secluded forest outside the swamp, activated the portkey, and after a feeling of dizziness, they returned to the Weasel Mountain with a large bag of luggage.
"Let's go, your mother must be in a hurry."
Mr. Diggory sent the backpack on his back, which was now different from the way he had been before he came to the World Cup, and he seemed preoccupied, and the two of them walked silently through the mountains and forests, back to the village of Autery-St. Cachpole, where a small two-story building gradually emerged from the woods on a small hillside on the outskirts of the village.
Before they could reach the front of the house, they saw a woman waiting anxiously on the side path with a newspaper in her hand, and she saw the two of them and rushed over
"Thank goodness - Amos, Seid, you're all right-"
"Oh, don't worry, we're fine, we're okay - aren't we coming back."
Mr. Diggory and his wife embraced, and then "Cedric also walked up, and the three of them hugged each other, and then separated a little later, and slowly walked back to the house on the hillside."
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
A week passed in the blink of an eye, Mr. Diggory was so busy that his feet barely touched the ground, the Ministry of Magic was "about to fall apart", and almost everyone worked overtime every night and weekend, considering that they hadn't worked overtime since the Dark Lord was caught.
New day, Amos? Diggory went from the fireplace early to the Ministry of Magic by Floo Powder, leaving only "Cedric" and Lady Diggory in the house.
"Mom, I'm going to take Coopus out, I won't eat lunch at home-"
Pani ran down the stairs, and on his shoulder stood a ravenβnone other than Ning'an.
"Wellβ" said Mrs. Diggory, poking her head out of the kitchen, and then frowning, still in a soft tone but complaining:
"Seid, can't this bird you have fly out to play on its own...... Or predation or something? Do you have to go there in person every time...... Slip it? β
Pani had already removed his coat from the hanger at the door, draped it over his body, and he pushed open the door and finally responded:
"You know it's not going to work, mom, it's going to run away if it flies out on its own, and I promise I'll be able to train it before school starts-"
After saying that, he gently closed the white wooden door and walked towards the village at the foot of the mountain.
The village of Autry-St. Cachpole is one of the most famous semi-magical settlements in the UK, where many wizards once lived, and a pattern of settlements between various families was formed, but many people either moved out of the area or the entire family disappeared over the years.
However, many descendants of wizards still lived in the vicinity, resulting in the semi-magical settlements that are now radially scattered around the Muggle village of Ottrie-St. Cachepol.
Not far from Cedric's house, there were also the Weasleys, Lovegood's houses, and so on, including the Diggory family, all of which had Muggle banishment spells, and Muggles would not even think about approaching the vicinity, and even if they did, they would only see a desolate ruin.
So although the village of Ottery-St. Cachpole is a Muggle town, wizards who live nearby still come here to buy things sometimes, although it is not common, it is not uncommon to meet wizards in the town, among them Arthur? Weasley was a regular visitor here, and his favorite thing was to go to the grocery store and find mundane Muggle items and sigh all day.
He loved Muggle stuff, but unfortunately the Ministry of Magic had been busy lately and didn't necessarily have time to hang out, so when Parney bought some baked bread, bread, mushrooms, and pork chops at the tavern in the village and brought them back to the mountains, he didn't meet any other wizards.
"While a picnic in the woods is also nice, why don't you just eat it at home, Mrs. Diggory cooks delicious food."
Pani was leaning against a large tree, and on the green grass was a picnic cloth that had been conjured up, on which were the bamboo baskets and the like, and the bread, pork chops, and mushrooms he had bought had been put into the basket, and at the moment Pani was picking up a small piece of the roasted oily pork chop and putting it in his mouth.
In front of him was a turbulent stream, and on the big bluestone beside the stream, Ning An had changed back into a human form, sitting on it, with his bare feet in the stream, letting the cold stream gently caress him, holding half of the dough cake in his hand, and taking a bite
"Because it's suspicious that you suddenly double the amount of food, and if you double the amount of food, it becomes completely inexplicable."
He said and beckoned to the top of the cloth, "Hmm...... Pork chops flew ......"
Although spells were difficult to speak, the silent and wandless Flying Spell was not so easy to cast, and he didn't want the greasy grease in his hand to get on his beloved wand, so he had to recite a somewhat ugly spell.
A piece of pork chop floated up from the bamboo basket and flew towards Ning An, but Ning An took it in his hand but didn't eat it, but handed it to the person next to him - Cedric.
This is the real Cedric, not a fake from Pani, because he needs to make a polyjuice potion out of his hair, and he also needs to ask about his past experiences so that Pani doesn't show his feet, so Ning An asked Pani to cast an Imperius Curse on him, controlled it, and kept it in the small box he carried with him.
But he had to let him out to eat, and Ning An didn't want him to starve to death, so every two days he would have Pani take him out, and go to the village down the hill to buy some food to fill his own stomach and that of Cedric.
As for the usual, he usually eats bird food made by Mrs. Diggory, although he can guarantee that he will not starve to death, but the taste really makes Ning An not want to remember.
"Are you sure you won't have a problem?"
Pani chewed a piece of roasted fragrant and crispy mushrooms, sprinkled with spices, and said to Ning An indistinctly:
"How long will your Transfiguration last?"
Ning An knew that he wasn't asking about the Animagus Transfiguration, but the money he had just used to pay the tavernkeeper.
Diggory didn't have Muggle money in the house, and it would be foolish to pay Sico or Galleons to Muggles, so Ning An turned a few leaves into Muggle bills, which he did every few days a week.
"Don't worry, it will last at least two weeks, and we will be back at Hogwarts by then, not to mention that Muggles will not notice that such a "small amount of money" is missing, they will only think that they are careless, and they don't know where to spend or lose it, and it just happens that there are two more leaves in their pockets. β
Ning An swallowed the pork chop in his mouth, and beckoned to the bamboo basket again, after eating a meal of bird food, he realized that the original human food was so delicious
"Uh...... Mushrooms are flying......"
"Ah, yes, I remember that the owl mail is open all year round, right-" Ning An asked Pani again
"yes, do you have anything to deliver? Isn't there an owl in Diggory's house? β
"No, you can hire an owl for me."
Ning An swallowed all the food, and then he remembered that he seemed to have ordered Malfoy something, and he planned to urge him again, to ensure that Harry would not take out the map of the living point on a whim when he returned to Hogwarts.
In Wiltshire, in a large, beautiful, and splendid manor house, surrounded by elaborate gardens, fountains with water, and proud white peacocks, in a hall covered with purple wallpaper, Malfoy was sitting on a sofa next to a page of the Daily Prophet, which he had never read before, but this time he had taken it out of the box he had ordered.
The entire page was full of descriptions of the Quidditch World Cup riots, and the man's name was mentioned repeatedly, much to Malfoy's excitement.
He knew the inside story, he was one of them, and it was natural for him to feel this way, but the others didn't, they were all stupidly still looking for the prisoner, but they didn't know the little secret in their hearts.
The pleasure of knowing more secrets than anyone else satisfied Malfoy so much that he didn't bother to do pointless things with Crabbe and Goyle for the rest of his vacation, and he pondered how to get Harry? Potter, get what Ning An wants.
At this moment, an old wall clock on the side of the hall struck three times, and the gemstone hands pointed to a certain scale on the dial, which read: Letters
"Damnβ"
Malfoy cursed and stood up, since Dobby's abominable elf was freed, he had to do such a thing as taking trust himself, and Malfoy had urged his father to find another house-elf, but only a reprimand.
It's nothing more than that set of house-elves that have been inherited from generation to generation in the family, and it's not as easy to hire as imagined.
Malfoy was dismissive of this, for there were a lot of house-elves in the Hogwarts kitchen.
He walked slowly out of the drawing-room, through the long hallway, to the garden outside the door, behind which a brown owl cooed at him in a stone house with openings on all sides.
Malfoy stepped forward to untie the envelope tied to its feet, and slipped two Galleons into the small pocket hanging under its wings, and the owl spread its wings and flew away.
"Tsk, postman owl, I don't know which shabby guy it is, I can't even afford an owl."
Malfoy muttered and glanced at the envelope, he thought it was addressed to his father or mother, but he didn't expect it to be clearly written: Draco? Mr. Malfoyβ
"For me?"
His mind raced for a classmate who might send him a letter, but after thinking about it, he couldn't think of anyone who would use the owl of the post office, so he simply tore open the letter paper and took out a thin piece of white paper inside, on which only a short sentence was written with a black pen
"Harry? Before Potter returns to school, he gets the map. β
