Chapter 5: The Tears of the Shark (5)

The sound of horses' hooves shattered the silence of the night.

A small group of knights reined in their horses a few dozen feet from Butos. Well-trained horses stand by under the direction of the knight's sign language.

The knight at the head led the troops cautiously towards Butos.

In the moonlight, the frozen goblins shimmered with a dark purple light, and the faint chill emanated and converged on the standing corpses of the goblins.

The chief knight drew his sword. It's a good guy made of stainless steel, but the rust and tiny broken teeth on it have lowered its quality and price.

"The same witchcraft, the same shaman. The Knight Captain walked up to the cold goblins, announcing to the troops in a deep voice and a lost tone.

"Don't despair, Knight Commander Lilway, our duty is only to guard the order. A brown-haired knight comforted the chief knight with dazzling blonde hair.

Learway's gaze betrayed weakness and helplessness, and he slowly lowered his head, his armor rubbing against the hem of his helmet, making a subtle sound that only metal could make.

"But witchcraft threatens order here. Learway explained his depression as he looked at Butos and the extinguished campfire beside him.

"How can anyone camp in this place?"

Learway slowly lowered his body and used his fingers to test Butoth's snort.

Butos was still asleep, and his long, soft breath symbolized a lively life.

"Maybe it's a hobbit loiter. โ€

"He's not like an adult hobbit, but a human child doesn't show up here alone. Lilwi used flint to rekindle the bonfire beside Butos. Butos stretched comfortably, a smile on his face.

"So what do we need to do now? โ€

Lilvi sat down firmly on the boulder beside Butos and retracted his sword into its scabbard: "This sorcery ice will disappear at sunrise, and we will not find any new clues." โ€

The men in this small army of knights never doubted Learway's words.

"That'...... Are we going to get out of here now? Take this hobbit or ...... Young humans together?"

"Don't bother him. Learway commanded, "Let's rest here and guard him, maybe we'll get some clues when he wakes up." โ€

The men in the troops obeyed, they parked their horses not far away, and arranged a vigil around the sleeping Butos.

There were a few more bonfires around the bonfires in Butos.

Learway stayed up all night.

A knight's duty is to guard, a silent guardian that never disturbs.

This was Lilwe's creed and his code as a Knight Captain.

The way Butos first woke up definitely showed that the death of the five goblins had nothing to do with him, and even Butos didn't know about the existence of the five goblins last night.

But Butos was clear about the identity of these "uninvited guests" he saw when he opened his eyes.

Silver-white armor, a long, quaint scabbard, a strong and powerful mount...... Butos rarely saw knights, and Butos had great respect for them, even if they were just wandering knights who formed their own team.

"Oh, noble knight!" said Butos, excitedly crawling out of his woollen blanket, with courtesy and respect for the first knight he had seen when he opened his eyes, Lilvae.

Lilvi replied to Butos with a dignified posture.

"It looks like he's really not a hobbit. One of the knights next to him smiled slightly.

Learway also had a significant smile on his face.

"Honor is not a compliment to a knight. Learway looked at Butos with a smile, "Can you tell me why you're here?" โ€

A hint of melancholy appeared in Butos' eyes, and he told Lilvi about the sudden disappearance of old Butos and how he had come from the village, including every flower he saw on the road.

Lilwe listened patiently to what Butos had to say.

"We can find your grandfather for you, and the adventure should not be what you should be going through right now. Learway made a knight's promise.

A knight next to him thought he had misheard something, and hurriedly reminded as fast as he could: "Knight, but we still have to investigate the source of witchcraft." โ€

Learway waved briefly at the knight.

When Butos heard Lilwe's words, he suddenly couldn't believe his ears, and a noble knight captain had made a promise to him.

"Really!

"Yes. Learway still smiled, "But you need to tell us your grandfather's name first." โ€

Butos spoke the full name of his grandfather, Butos the Elder, with great joy and pride.

When Lilwe heard the name of old Butos, Lilwe was the first to give Butos a chivalric salute of great respect and obedience. The other knights also knelt on one knee in front of Butos in turn, placing their fists closest to their hearts.

"Wandererโ€”Butos......" Lilway's lips twitched. His resolute eyes began to fill with tears: "He saved our lives......"

Butos looked at what was happening in front of him in amazement. None of this was something that Butos had ever thought of.

Learway led the troops to their feet.

"Benefactor Butos will never leave without reason, and it is our duty to find him. Learway made another promise to Butos.

Butos's heart was suddenly filled with joy: "Then can you take me with you?"

The knights were hesitant, carrying a human child on a mission was not a choice a wise knight would make.

However, Learway agreed.

"Recently, there has been a continuous stream of witchcraft surging nearby, and we can take you in search of the great wanderer - Butos while tracking down the witchcraft. Learway's gaze returned to determination.

Butos cheered.

The "New Knights" ended their conversation and began to sort out what they needed for their trip.

"Where are we going?" asked Butos, a glimmer of anticipation in his heart.

Learway was not facing Butos at this time in the way a knight would behave when facing a child.

Lilwe replied solemnly, "The location where witchcraft appears is not fixed, and we do not have a destination in the strict sense of the word. โ€

Butos frowned slightly, and pulled out the "Tears of the Shark" from his pocket.

"My grandfather told me that as long as I went in the southeast direction, I would always find him. And this gem ...... but lead me to the northwest......" Butos' eyes were full of doubt.

When Lilway saw the "Tears of the Shark", a shock instantly appeared in his knight's heart, which was not false.

"My God, what a precious thing...... "Lilwe's eyes widened, and the look of shock was palpable, "Butos, don't easily expose this thing to others in the future." โ€

Butos nodded, his face full of pride. In Butos's heart, this was left to him by old Butos, and nothing could be more precious.

Learway continued: "While it has never gone in the wrong direction, I am convinced that what Benefactor Butos said to you has a unique meaning. Then let's follow the benefactor's footsteps in the southeast direction first!"

Butos smiled happily.

Lilwi invited Butos to ride with him, and Butos gave his bags to the knight behind him.

The knights began their journey towards sunrise.

On the way, Lilvi introduced the members of the unit to Butos one by one.

The former six knights became seven knights, and Butos was the seventh, and although he did not have a horse of his own, Butos was still very proud in his heart.

Butos leaned against Learvi's hard, yet extremely safe armor, and smiled happily.

Although the valley forest blocked Butos's view to the southeast, Butos was still looking forward to the direction full of warmth.

Old Butos must be extremely proud of the current little Butos.

With this in mind, the Seven Horsemen had already stepped into the dense forest path that shuttled through the valley of the Richie Forest.

Horses are neighing, birds are singing, trees are whispering......
