361. The day of the make-up exam
Xia Nan University of Technology, Monday of the second week of the new semester.
Huiyan Building is an independent teaching building of Xia University of Technology. It is only five stories tall, oval and fat, and the most distinctive feature is that it has several large lecture halls. The largest even has more than 3,000 seats, which is enough to hold large academic lectures.
Huiyan Building is the famous "Horror Castle" of Xia University of Technology, which has always been notorious and makes students smell it. This is because as long as the students' make-up exams are arranged in this building, then something terrible will definitely happen as scheduled.
The building has extremely advanced automatic intelligent systems, such as "face recognition", "electronic signal blocking" and so on. Any classroom here is equipped with a large number of high-definition cameras for all-round monitoring without dead ends.
That is to say, it is obvious that substitute exams will not work, and cheating in exams is even more risky. It is said that there are many senior brothers and sisters in this school, because there are too many courses in this building, so they "accidentally" "lost" a lot of degree certificates. And even more seriously, in the end, I couldn't even get a graduation certificate, and only got the graduation.
Regarding the many historical tragic make-up examination events in this building, the famous singer Yang Kun, the song "That Day" with a slightly crying voice is simply its direct endorsement of the mourning speech, a terrible murmur from the grim reaper:
"I remember that day, God arranged for us to meet.
"I know, I've watched the winter.
"Remember that day, waiting to light a fire in your heart.
"I seem to see the end of my fate.
"That day, that day, I lost you,
"It's like a child who has lost a beloved toy.
"That day, that day, remained in my heart,
"It's been stamped and can never be erased.
"Life is deliberately wrestling with me,
"Give you an unforgettable moment."
########
At half past one in the afternoon, one of the school's administrative leaders, Vice Principal Hu, appeared in the corridor of the Huiyan Building with a tired face.
At around 10 o'clock in the morning, President Hu had just gotten off the plane and returned to Guangzhu City. The long-haul flight took more than five hours.
It stands to reason that Principal Hu should have slept and rested in the afternoon. However, President Hu has always had this kind of tough work style: the holes he dug himself have to be filled with tears. In President Hu's work dictionary, there is never the word "anticlimactic".
The make-up examination site that started at 2:10 p.m. has a lot to do with President Hu's resolute decision: the total number of students in this period of make-up examination has more than doubled.
During the winter vacation, President Hu was visiting an overseas university. During the period, I answered the phone call from my subordinates and reported on the arrangements for the make-up examination this semester. When Principal Hu learned that the students' make-up examination rate was only more than 7 percentage points, he was furious on the spot.
Then, President Hu immediately ordered: All those whose class attendance does not reach a certain qualified frequency, regardless of the quality of the final paper, will be included in the list of this make-up examination.
Yao Yayao, who was originally a top student, was one of the victims of Principal Hu's temporary decision to pat his head. He had to retake three courses: Advanced Mathematics Volume I, Theoretical Mechanics, and History of Architectural Disasters.
Although, Yao Yayao's roll scores, "High Mathematics" and "Lili" are full marks, and "Materials" is also above 95 points.
Yao Yayao was very wronged, because the teachers of these three courses all thought that Yao Yayao had learned a wide range of things and knew very deeply, and he had already surpassed the full text of the textbook, so he was allowed not to use it for class. Afterwards, Associate Professor Qian even called in person to apologize to Yao Yayao.
It is a fact that there is a big flaw in his own absenteeism rate, and the decision of the school leaders cannot be questioned, and the resistance is even more futile. So Yao Yayao, who "understands things", can only obediently participate in this afternoon's make-up exam.
In the corridor, Principal Hu walked slowly, because he was thinking about something and planning to straighten out some complicated tasks.
During this past winter vacation, President Hu's personal workload was the busiest in his 20 years in office.
During the holidays, at least 10 overseas universities sent enthusiastic invitation letters. The contents are all similar, except that they hope that the leaders of the two universities will visit each other, negotiate and conclude close sister university relations, and exchange short-term international students with each other.
To President Hu's great shock, these overseas universities that took the initiative to send a letter were not those who were unknown in third world countries, but Western traditional middle and upper reaches of the global rankings, although not in the top 100, but most of them were in the middle and upper reaches of the top 200.
And what about Xia Gongda? Not only did it not enter the list of traditional 589 and 112 schools in China, but it was even worse in the international rankings.
Why did they suddenly take the initiative to throw an olive branch to the school?! Principal Hu couldn't understand this.
As a 20-year veteran president, President Hu is well aware of the importance of establishing friendly relations with foreigners. Not to mention anything else, if there are all kinds of blonde and blue-eyed students hanging out on your campus from time to time, it means that some work and political achievements have been achieved.
In the past ten years, President Hu has actually made a lot of positive efforts, hoping to maintain a long-term close partnership with some big-name overseas foreign universities. Helplessly, people can't afford to climb at all, and they usually ignore it.
Now that people have taken the initiative to join in the heat, Principal Hu will definitely not let go of the God-given opportunity. During this winter vacation, President Hu visited four or five overseas universities in a row, and quickly negotiated successfully with two of them and signed a friendly agreement on resource exchange between the two sides.
At most, there will be a month at most, and the first batch of 40 places for the semester exchange students of these two foreign universities will appear on the campus of Xia University of Technology as scheduled. Moreover, people are still dumbfounded, and they can't wait to send a few more students over. The sense of urgency that is vague and absent cannot be concealed between the eyebrows and eyes during the negotiation.
President Hu still hasn't understood the logic of rationalized business operation. Foreigners are obviously anxious to send semester exchange students to summer technology university, but at the same time they are unwilling to accept the corresponding proportion of students from this school.
President Hu, who was in a hurry, finally signed the agreement with a ratio of 2:1. For every two foreign students accepted by Xia Gong, one student can be sent to their school. The two sides will be exchanged for a short period of time, and the duration of each exchange will be one year. The agreement is re-signed every three years.
Although it is not too fair, President Hu also feels that such an agreement is enough to shine in the university circle. After all, the common drawbacks of peers are usually that Oriental students want to go out and have insufficient places; Western students are reluctant to come, and there are still places left.
As for why those foreign college students suddenly rushed over, this is not the focus of President Hu's work. Anyway, in terms of food and reception in the living quarters, there is no problem with Xia Gongda.
Principal Hu thought about it for a long time, and only thought of two reasons that could explain the matter:
First, for more than ten years, the hardware construction of Xia Institute of Technology has been excellent, with a large increase in buildings and halls, and the scenery of the campus is also picturesque.
Second, the reason for the country's strong comprehensive national strength. For example, cashless payment in China, bicycle sharing, first-class e-commerce services in the catering industry, etc., are all regarded as high-tech trend innovation methods by foreigner universities. Their students probably want to come here to learn from the scriptures, right?
In the corridor, a young male university lecturer greeted President Hu and politely greeted him first.
Principal Hu nodded in return with an expressionless face. When the two sides missed their positions, Principal Hu's eyes were filled with some dissatisfaction:
If it weren't for these lecturers and professors who were messing around with the number of students taking the make-up exam, why would they have to clean up the mess for them?!
If you don't need to do some work, you can catch up on your sleep in the afternoon, and you don't have to work hard to come and inspect the make-up exam venue.
