Chapter 17: After the Honeymoon
In the kitchen of the Grand House, Louise fiddles around at the desk. Because Lola had advanced her trip and Louise had promised to bring soup to the nuns of the Church of the Child, she stayed with Grande to accompany Zack.
"Is the nun alright?" Zach didn't need lunch, but Grande and Old Hank and the Great Dane were not small eaters, so he also helped out in the kitchen and chatted casually.
"It's okay, I may have been a little tired lately, just rest for a few days. Louise blinked, not sure what she was saying, "Is that so?"
Zach smiled as he placed the sliced potatoes on the desk, picked up another one and continued, "I hope so, Crowley isn't so eager." β
Louise stirred the spoon in her hand, curious about the name of the Grande House that had suddenly appeared, "Crowley, Eh. What kind of ...... is she Yes, people?"
Zach seemed to be interested, put the potato in front of his eyes, squinted, stared at the small black spot that was abruptly dented on the skin of the potato, and held a knife to carefully 'carve' it, "This is what we want to figure out." β
"Are we in a state of not disturbing each other now?" Louise cleverly avoided the question that was still uncertain, and asked what was really relevant to Grande.
Zach nodded, "Yes." "A piece of dark color that did not match the color of the skin was ripped up, and the vampire's exquisite 'skill' did not hurt a little potato. Zach smiled with satisfaction, "It's still too short a time, we don't know each other, plus the agreement to coexist." Neither of us is ready for each other's 'response'. β
Louise glanced up at Zack, the corners of her mouth curled slightly, with an ambiguous look, "So it's your honeymoon period." β
Zach put down the perfect potato, looked at the woman who had been given the right to choose by herself, and shook her head with a smile, "You can say that. β
Louise's eyes were filled with a hint of ambiguity, a hint of resentment, "I'm angry." β
With a smile in his eyes, Zach looked at Louise, "You're going to use this analogy." β
Louise tilted her head, still maintaining her expression and not speaking again. A glint flashed in Zach's averted gaze. In this glimmer of light, admiration for Louise accounts for the majority.
The night after the two met, Zach confessed that he was a fan of Louise, and still is. This beautiful woman was always able to stay on a tightrope on a cliff and keep her balance.
She was human, a human who lived in Grande and did not have anything special. When she's doing the work of 'spying' Grande's aliens, you hear messages that say, 'Don't flirt?'
The remaining half is Zach's patience that is fading away. Because of the misguided 'coexistence agreement', they had to live this honeymoon that no one wanted. In the time period when Crowley has not yet found the container, the best time to suppress the demon will pass like this.
Zach didn't have anything to do about it. He needs an event, or rather, both parties need an event as the honeymoon ends, and the 'feelings' of both parties move towards the beginning of the next stage.
After lunch, Louise took the packed soup to the church of the Holy Child to the west, where she planned to spend noon, and then go to the cemetery with the priest who presided over the burial ceremony to meet Zack, so as not to run on either side.
The craze for moving graves has begun to subside, especially during the period when churches are closed for maintenance in turn, and the arrangement is so tight that the Grand House can perform four ceremonies a day, and many more people have chosen cremation because of the repeated changes in this matter, wearing out their patience.
Mrs. Quinn had the right time to catch the tail of the craze, and although the reporters were excited, if you had been in the newspapers for almost two weeks straight, such as 'So-and-so moved so-and-so's grave to so-and-so'. When you look at the tomb of Lady Quinin, you just think, 'Oh, Lady Quinn did the same.'" β
On the 'Grande Schedule' that Louise has mastered, this afternoon's burial ceremony is the last, and according to the normal business level of the Grande House, it is estimated that life in the future will be the same as a daily holiday.
The phone rang, it was the phone on Louise's desk, and Zach sat down in the living room, at Louise's desk, with a wine glass. Louise placed a potted plant on the side of the table, and actually enclosed an independent space by the environment. Zach was in a good mood, and the idea of actually preparing an office for Louise flashed one day.
Zach picked up the phone.
"Hey, Grande, do you have time!"
Zach heard the voice of the man in his fifties and smiled slightly.
"Prison Keeper Vincent, there's always time for you. β
"Haha! Grande, you've been doing very well lately, I wonder if you're interested in working with a poor partner like us again!"
"Of course. Zach took a sip of his wine, and more than two months ago, this was one of Zach's only two stable clientsβthe prison.
"This is a great relief!" said the other party's relieved voice through the earpiece, "Now we can continue to save a lot of money!
Zach's eyes narrowed, how much money can be saved by a minimum funeral! As for the food, hehe. But Zach just thinks that this guy's undisguised greed is direct enough, which is a good thing for the previous Grande House.
Because the funeral business at that time belonged to the city government, the Grande House was actually a seclusion! They needed a stable partner on the surface, and the prison warden's direct let Grande, who actually survived on the funds from the city hall, like it very much, and Grande was not interested in the money he paid, all he needed was a name.
"Warden, you don't need to call in person, just find someone to talk to. Zach smiled and didn't continue with the ridiculous explanation.
"How can this work!" the other party's voice raised, "You have changed the phone, I haven't called yet! I must call myself!
Zach smiled and shook his head, if he didn't know the truth, he would be completely confused by the other party's words, thinking that he was an arrogant person. We all know that it is easiest for people to disguise themselves as the opposite.
"Warden, is it still the same? tell us the time, and we can drag it ourselves?"
"Ah! not this!" The other party's background voice was a little messy, and there seemed to be a sound of Wen JiΓ n flipping, "Uh, there is this, don't rush me!"
Zach was speechless, who urged him.
"That's right, in the morning, the city government's letter suddenly came down and said that it was because of the privatization of funerals, and asked us to determine a stable cooperative funeral home, which should be signed in the form of a contract!
Zach's lips rested on the transparent cup, and the other party really wanted to save a lot of money this time.
"You've already said yes!
Zach raised an eyebrow, "Of course not." Does the warden need a meeting, or can we meet and talk about this in detail?"
"It's too troublesome, I'll send you the contract, you sign it and send it back!" said in the earpiece.
"Yes. Zach didn't care, and like the mill and the Barton South Police Department, he didn't pay attention to the content of the contract.
Although the contract was for the police and the prison, in reality, the real financiers were the city government, which was under the jurisdiction of the city government. Most of the contents of the contract have been confirmed by Anthony. So Zach really doesn't need to care about anything, just make a phone call and confirm it with Anthony.
Hanging up, Zach returned to the office and called Anthony.
"Anthony. The voice in the receiver was accompanied by the sound of chewing food, and Zach was calling Anthony's private line, and no one who knew the number would make any comments on the mayor's behavior of answering the phone and eating at the same time.
"It's me, Anthony. Zach didn't say much, and his conversations with Anthony were usually direct, "I got a call from the warden of Barton Prison to work with the funeral home. Is there such a thing?"
"Yes. Anthony gave a vague gratification, then chewed quickly, "It's just an idea, I want you to master those souls who will definitely go to hell, and then use ......"
Before Anthony could finish speaking, Zach raised an eyebrow, "Oh-" he lengthened his voice. Vampires really didn't think of this, and compared with the recent sudden number of jobs, the amount of prison business is too low.
"Oh, Anthony, what would I do without you. Not long ago, Zach wanted to take the relationship between Grande and Crowley to the next stage, and now this advancement is in Grande's hands.
"Well, don't rejoice too soon. Anthony heard that Zach had already thought about it, and obviously relaxed, and the sound of eating came from the earpiece again, "You still have a lot of things to do, don't mess with that Vincent guy." β
"Yes, it won't. Zach smiled and nodded, it looked like he was going to visit Vincent again.
"One more thing. Anthony's voice was a little confused, leaving for a strange pause, and the crunchy vegetables were heard by the sound of chewing into Zack's ears. Zach was still thinking at this point, 'Anthony is finally starting to take care of his health, yes.'"
"Yesterday, Crowley came. Anthony organized the language, "Nothing happened, but something happened when she was leaving. She said one of her men died. β
"Oh. Zach smiled, "James finally got a little bit of use." β
"You didn't get it. Anthony didn't know what funny things he remembered, and with a smile in his tone, he said to Zach what Crowley had said to him, "Dead, the real kind of death where the soul disappears." β
Zach frowned, "Dead, how, by whom?"
Three consecutive questions made Anthony also confirm that it was not Zach who did it, and before hanging up the phone, "How do I know, always you should be careful." Killing demons, this is no longer something that a small character can do. β
