Chapter 14: Through the Gate of Darkness (Part II)
A few weeks later, the Coalition army was assembled, and under the Dark Gate, 30,000 Coalition Expeditionary Force soldiers filled the valley like a black tide. Above this great army, soared the commander-in-chief of their legion, the paladin Ares. Mogrian.
With a long roar, the Snow Eagle swept over the coalition forces, and for the first time in his life, Ares saw the panorama of the Dark Gate. Rising from the valley almost as high as a mountain, this massive dark portal is flanked by two giant statues of a mysterious wizard armed with a black sword. Some speculate that it was carved on the basis of Medivan. However, Medivan was killed in the early stages of the First Orc War, and no one knows the details of the construction of the Dark Gate.
As he flew close to the Dark Gate, Ares seemed to see the starry sky and the land, which would be a mysterious and unknown continent. A new adventure is about to begin.
Ares tightened the reins and let out a loud shout, and the snow eagle let out a long roar and swooped down like a white meteor.
"Azeroth Alliance Expeditionary Force, forward!"
Ares let out a loud cry, and the ground behind him trembled, and the 30,000 Alliance soldiers and their commander walked through the Dark Gate!
……
I don't know how long I have been gliding in such a void and dark interstellar space, when I opened my eyes again, Ares saw an incomparably magnificent sight - planets of various colors floating in the sky like multicolored flowing clouds, the sky was a fiery red color, like a ribbon of flowing clouds sliding gently, those floating planets in the air flickered far and near, some so close that it even gave you an illusion, as if you could reach out and pick them up.
Looking further into the distance, the earth was a fiery red, burning with flames that seemed to never be extinguished, and the space seemed to tilt, forever moving in one direction. Huge shattered rocks float in the air, as if they were ready to fall at any moment. A hot and dry wind blew from the red desert and hit the mouth and nose, and the fine grit soon smeared the face with a layer of red ash.
Snow Eagle had clearly not yet recovered from the tremendous energy generated by passing through the portal, and she flapped her wings in a sad cry and glided into a clearing in front of the coalition forces to a halt. Ares looked back and could see tens of thousands of coalition troops sporadically coming from the other side of the Dark Gate. Like Ares, the warriors' faces were full of exhaustion and hardship. Navigating through portals is not an easy task, in the game it is only a matter of seconds, but in reality, Ares feels as if it took days to come into the world. At the same time, the timer is out of order here. In other words, people have no idea how long it took them to pass through the dark door.
"Are you alright?"
Jumping off the back of the griffin, Ares walked up to one of the Alliance warriors and greeted him.
"It's okay, it's just a little dizzy, but I'm sure it will get better soon."
The soldier quickly gave a standard military salute before standing up and answering. More soldiers clenched their weapons and looked at the strange sight around them. Like Ares, they had never seen such a magnificent sight, not even in their dreams.
"Brothers, first assemble the team. We may be on the verge of a terrible crisis. ”
Seeing the scattered appearance of the team, Ares shouted.
The heralds immediately gave orders to their respective squads to line up.
Despite the exhaustion, it can be seen that after a little adaptation, the coalition forces are quickly organized. On the ladder of fate, the footsteps of the alliance soldiers were heard. They're regrouping.
A few minutes later, Ares was glad for his decision.
On the Hellfire Peninsula, the sand and dust are everywhere, and the sound of steel-like crushing comes from the distant earth, and when you look closely, on the sky in the distance, you can vaguely see countless dense small black dots, and the demon army on the ground, they are very fast and loud, even if it is far away, Ares can hear the sound of the countless mempaneous wings inciting the air, this sound is so loud, Ares can be sure that the warriors around him can also hear it.
The scene reminded Ares of the Battle of Angela, when countless Angela Zerg flew out of the Scarab Wall and flew towards the Kalimdor coalition in an overwhelming manner. And now, the demon army is also rushing towards the Alliance Expeditionary Force like a sandstorm in the desert.
"The first big queue is over!"
"The third queue is over!"
Beside Ares, the roars of countless Alliance warriors rang out. As the Alliance's heavy shield was neatly lowered, the battle between demons and humans began.
"Archer, prepare!"
Under the dark red sky, Ares raised his holy sword and roared.
On the Ladder of Fate, countless Alliance archers draw their bows and arrows, enduring the physical discomfort and fatigue of passing through portals, and refocus their attention on the impending war ahead.
At the same time, the Burning Legion, composed of demon guards and cerberus, is also approaching frantically. The Abyss Commander took heavy steps, and among the countless demons and orcs, the Great Demon's body was so large that the soaring griffin knight was as small as a fly in front of him.
But wars are never won or lost by one or two people. Ares kept his eyes on the demon's approaching direction, and ordered the dwarven gunners to aim all their shells at the demon.
Leaning on the massive slope of the staircase, hoplites in front and Alliance archers, dwarven musketeers, and hoplites in the rear, formed an impregnable defensive position.
"Fire!"
The next moment, the commander of the expeditionary force, Ares, gave the order for all to open fire.
On the white platform of the Steps of Destiny, cannon fire suddenly roared, resounding through the sky of the Hellfire Peninsula. Numerous dwarven artillery fired a dense barrage of shells in the direction of the enemy's rush.
Above the heads of the Alliance soldiers, countless whizzing projectiles were slashed.
The Commander of the Great Abyss, whose goal was so clear, was that it became the primary target of the Dwarven Artillerymen in the first place.
Like a cannonball hitting a huge castle, the Abyss Commander's body could be seen shaken, but the heavy demonic armor protected its fat body, making it impossible for the cannonball to deal substantial damage to it.
What's even more terrifying is that today, what Ares feels is calm. Dense dwarven artillery smashed into the demon army's position, but it didn't stop the demons from roaring and charging. Obviously, the world behind the Dark Gate and the world of the Cursed Lands are two completely different worlds, where the number of demons and orcs is incalculable......
They surged into the Alliance's position like a black tidal wave......
