Postscript Interview with the author

"Sports Weekly" reporter (lower sports world) Yi Zhou: Hello! The first volume of Your Road to Fame has come to an end, and it's a pleasure to be able to interview you at this point in time.

Yi Zhou: I'm also glad to be interviewed. You're welcome, but I will also include your interview at the end of my first volume as a tidbit of gratitude to readers. There are just some questions that may also be of interest to the reader, so it kills two birds with one stone.

Sports: Okay. Then I'll start the interview.

Yi Zhou: If you have any tricky questions, just throw them over.

Sports: Mr. Yi Zhou, how did you come up with the idea of creating such a book?

Yi Zhou: First of all, I've always wanted to try a feature. My previous work was mainly short stories and poems, and long forms have always been an area I wanted to challenge, and there is a character like Yang Yiming, who fits the image of the protagonist of a long story in my mind: talented, characterful, but struggling. He'll grow with the story and the reader, so I'll write it.

Another reason, which I have explained many times in my work, is that the reason why I wrote such a large and complex story, and also wrote a lot of stories outside of basketball competition, is to create a bloody epic adventure story, like Dragon Ball, like One Piece. A parallel world with a sense of substitution. Becoming a Hall of Fame level player is not just about being good on the field. It's like the sports business empire that LeBron James has created, and the complexity of it is exactly what I need for a good story.

Sports: How did you feel after the first volume?

Yi Zhou: The mood is also complicated.

On the one hand, it is relieved, after all, from the idea to the implementation of the idea on paper, are two completely different things.

There is also a sense of accomplishment, and the first volume, which is close to 600,000 words, can be regarded as the first step in a down-to-earth manner.

Of course, there is also nervousness, honest fear. In order to prepare for the second volume, and at the same time rewrite some chapters of the first volume, the first time since the opening of the book was stopped, there must be both a fear of loss of readers and a nervousness about the content of the new volume.

Sports: Some readers have commented that you have great ambitions to write this story, what do you think?

Yi Zhou: Ambition must be big. Since the layout is already so grand, why not go further.

A reader said that he felt that the author wanted to write a sports IP, so even the structure of the script had been arranged, and some chapters had a sense of déjà vu of a drama or film and television drama.

I'd like to say that I do. Which author doesn't look forward to his work being adapted into a film and television drama or game, and changing the fate of hard codewords? The IP of sports is indeed a blank, so creating a suitable story for adaptation has become one of my tasks.

Sports: How did you come across so much insider information about Yang Yiming?

Yi Zhou: This needs to be kept secret for the time being.

Let's just put it this way, I can get in touch with so many insiders, there must be a whistleblower around Yang Yiming. It's just that it's not convenient to disclose who it is now.

Sports: Can you tell me how much fiction there is in the story you wrote compared to the revelations you actually received?

Yi Zhou: Let's open it on the second eighth. 20% fictional, 80% true.

Yang Yiming's growth trajectory will of course match his performance in reality, but some dramatic fictional content may not be able to guarantee the truth. After all, this is a network in itself, and if it is too realistic, Internet readers who are used to seeing the flying sky and cultivating to become immortals may lose interest. So as a last resort, I will also add some fantasy elements.

Sports: From your point of view, what do you think Yang Yiming and Yu Xiaochun can achieve in the future?

Yi Zhou: From a writing point of view, I certainly hope that the higher they can achieve, the better.

I personally like them very much, I think their personalities complement each other, Yang Yiming is younger, has high emotional intelligence, and is full of talent; Yu Xiaochun may be more eccentric, but he is more persistent and has a stubborn cuteness. But their love for basketball is the same, and that's what I want to convey through. I believe that as long as they have passion, they will achieve great things.

As for not being able to get to the Hall of Fame - isn't that my pen? You can write the dead alive, the living write dead, and the living dead write half-dead, isn't this the power of writers?

Sports: Is it possible that you and Yang Yiming will meet each other?

Yi Zhou: Of course, I hope to meet. As you did today, I also interviewed him face-to-face, which will definitely be of greater help to me in understanding and describing him.

And it's kind of like a two-dimensional and three-dimensional meeting, isn't it? Cool. Even though we're both from the third dimension, sometimes I get into a trance, thinking he's a fictional character from my pen, haha.

Sports: Some netizens questioned your self-hype and data fraud, do you have anything to explain?

Yi Zhou: I can only say that I have no comment.

The good wish that the aroma of wine is not afraid of deep alleys is really not applicable to our times!

Sports: The first volume has been completed recently, what are your plans?

Yi Zhou: I also said it in the introduction of the work. It's been almost 8 months in a row, and sometimes it's really a race against time when there are other jobs every day. Several times I finished writing on the way to dinner, and there were many more times when I finished uploading it at more than 23:50 at night. But thrilling and uneventful, there has been no break for so many days.

This week, I was going to take a break and resume on time on Sunday, June 24.

I will not be idle when I take a break, and I will rewrite the first volume, especially the beginning part. After all, there are always readers who report that the beginning is obscure and not direct enough, and I know that I can change my mistakes and be an obedient and good author.
