Chapter 53: The Upanishads
"Hey! Old woman, don't spank me again! ā
"Silly son, I wanted to hit you on the head, but unfortunately your poor brain can't stand the destruction anymore. Pen @ fun @ pavilion wWw. ļ½ļ½ļ½Uļ½Eć ļ½ļ½ļ½ļ½ā
"Why are you saying such mean things, is it so hard to admit that your son is gifted and intelligent?" Bloom fled behind Roland to escape his mother's beatings, making a complaining voice.
The high priest slammed the adamantite staff to the ground, and two willow eyebrows raised up: "Are you embarrassed to say these words?" It's really a horse that doesn't know how long its face is! Your mother and I are the high priest of Moradin, and your father is an archmage, speaking of which, our family's genes are good enough, how did they give birth to such a complete rammer as you? Your sisters are either mages or priests, and as the only male in the family, you have mediocre perceptions, average intelligence, and no inheritance of your parents' spell-casting abilities, and Moradin also loves his warrior descendants, but what is the matter if you feel good about yourself all day long? If I hadn't seen you come out of my belly, I wouldn't have been embarrassed to admit that I had such a stupid son as you. ā
Bloom was so embarrassed by his mother's lecture that his face turned red, and if it weren't for the presence of Roland and Lyudmila, he would probably have fled the temple in tears.
Roland frowned secretly. Now that he knew why Bloom didn't want to come to the temple, he must have been under a lot of pressure to have such a harsh mother.
"Hmph, I hate the Temple, I hate Icewind Dale, one day I'm going to leave this lifeless place and go on a free adventure in the vast world, and when I return home with a heroic reputation and countless riches, you will all be ashamed of your prejudices now!" The poor dwarven prince muttered unconvinced with tears in his eyes.
Roland patted him on the shoulder and comforted, "I'm sure there will come a day, Brother Bloom, and then we might as well sit down and talk about your adventure plans, maybe we can be teammates." ā
Bloom's eyes flashed with surprise: "Seriously? ā
"Of course, this is related to the next battle plan of our Koras Division, and we will talk about it in depth when the time comes."
Bloom's mother, High Priest Valery Wrought Iron of Moradin, looked at Roland with a smile, "It seems that my stupid son has made a clever friend. ā
Lyudmila couldn't help but interject: "Lady Valerya, do you have to treat your son in such a harsh tone?" It will take a toll on his psyche. ā
Madame Valeria was unimpressed by her criticism: "If a man can't stand even his mother's ridicule, what can he do? Forget it, let's not talk about this, it can be seen that you and that little handsome guy are good friends of my son, well, although I feel sincere pity for your giant bloodline, but the bloodline is not something you can choose, big girl, I believe that the same rice raises a hundred kinds of people, and there are occasionally one or two girls in the giant who come out of the mud and are not stained, so I have no objection to you dating Bloom, haha, I am almost touched by my tolerant mind. ā
Lyudmila was simply amused by her, what right do you little man have to look down on giants? She thanked God for not letting her stand up for such a wonderful mother.
Roland couldn't help but laugh. The High Priest really shouldn't blame his son, Bloom's overconfident personality is clearly inherited from hers.
"Bloom is not a competent guide, so I'm going to take you on a tour of this great temple, which was built 1400 years ago, during the Arcane Empire ......."
Lady Valeria led the group on a tour of the temple, introducing the history of the temple and the rise and fall of the dwarves of the Far East, and was deeply admired by everyone for her erudition.
Roland listened attentively until Bloom tugged at his sleeve behind him.
"Hey, bro, look at the hall over there!"
Roland followed his finger and saw a group of dwarves training in the hall, with others copying scrolls.
"That's where you train your professional abilities?"
"Not only that, but also potions, scrolls, and Upanishads."
The three words "Upanishads" moved Roland's heart, and he turned around and asked the high priest, "Madam, can we enter the training hall for a visit?" ā
High Priest Valeria saw through his thoughts and said with a smile: "The training facilities of the temple are usually only open to Far Eastern dwarves, however, considering that you are the most honored guests in Icewind Dale, I can make an exception and take you in for a walk, and each person can take two souvenirs, potions, scrolls, and Upanishads. ā
"Madame, you are so generous!" Roland was overjoyed.
High Priest Valeria carried a gold scepter with one hand on his hip and was imposing: "Be generous to your friends, this is the hadith of our Lord Moradin." ā
"But you've never been generous to me." Bloom grumbled under his breath.
The high priest glanced at his son: "If you can do something to make my mother and me look long, you can also be the high priest." ā
"I'm not interested!" Bloom shook his head.
Roland walked straight to the altar and bowed respectfully to the statue of Moradin, then looked down at the counters that had been arranged in a circle around the altar.
The mahogany counter looked sturdy, inlaid with large pieces of glass, displaying scrolls, bottles of potions, and a few parchment books in envelopes.
A dwarf in a priest's robe was sitting behind the counter knitting a sweater, and when she noticed that the high priest had personally brought someone to visit, she was so frightened that she quickly shoved the sweater and knitting needles under her buttocks, and asked Roland and Lyudmila what they needed with a smile on her face.
Roland first looked at the potions and spell scrolls, which were more expensive than the Citapuria, and there were nothing special about them, so he turned to the Upanishads.
The Upanishads refer to those secret books that record the inheritance of skills, specialties, spells, and even special professions, and most of them are spiritual experiences written by the strong, and those who meet the cultivation conditions can learn them.
Learning skills through the Upanishads saves you the need to ask a teacher for advice, but you don't learn them all at once.
The Upanishads are like a textbook, the same textbook plays a very different role in the hands of different students, and the gifted and perceptive students can quickly grasp the content of the textbook, while the dull ones will have to do more with less.
The Upanishads of the Temple of Moradin are likewise divided into two categories: skills and specializations. The former is cheaper, and one book costs around a thousand gold coins, and Roland took a look at it, and there was no skill that he was particularly interested in.
The price of specialty Upanishads is much more expensive than skill books, and they have always been in short supply, and there are only four specialty books left on display on the counter, all of which are priced at 10,000 gold coins each.
"Lightning Reflection, Iron Will...... I want these two copies," Lyudmila pointed to the counter, and said to Roland, "There is still one copy of "High Speed Riding Combat" and one copy of "Charging Hard" for you, and we will change them later." ā
Lyudmila was also buying the Upanishads for the first time, and she had little experience, and soon realized that her idea was pure wishful thinking.
In order to prevent piracy, the temple placed a spell mark on each Upanishads, which only those who bought it themselves could read it, and when others opened the same book, they saw all gibberish.
