Chapter 544: Visiting Friends
After watching the griffon messenger take to the skies and fly to the far north, Diego didn't immediately leave Stormwind and return to the Cursed Lands. In the plan he and Commander Waynes and Mahalba had drawn up earlier, the Watch Fort would remain defensive until reinforcements arrived, and a large number of scouts would be sent to keep an eye on the Dark Gate's movements. Whether he is there or not, the impact is not so great.
In the next few days, King Varian and Duke Berval were busy all day long with the recruitment of various legions, the formulation of battle plans, the preparation of weapons and equipment, and the preparation of food supplies. Diego suddenly relaxed, and in the busy new operations command room, he looked so out of place. Diego left the palace and made his way to the dwarven quarters. Speaking of which, the Black Iron Dwarf Thrum Deep Furnace is one of his few friends in Stormwind.
Compared to its previous decay and deserted appearance, the Deep Furnace Forge has completely changed its appearance. The original cement cottage has been renovated into a sturdy two-storey granite building with carved window frames inlaid with thinly polished tortoiseshell panels. Under the oak eaves, the shiny brass sign is particularly eye-catching. It can be seen that the salary paid generously by Diego last time has greatly improved the situation of the father and daughter of the deep furnace.
Business in the Deep Furnace Workshop is much better now than before, and from time to time people come in and out of the store, carrying freshly purchased weapons in their hands. As soon as Diego walked through the door, he heard Serrum's loud voice.
"Diego Asnar, Earl of Mooncreek in the Western Wilderness, knows? That's right, the same young man who escorted the Saint Marshal Windsor back, and the musket he used was built by me, and in the battle of the dragon slayer in the Dust Swamp last year, this musket was unmatched and caused tons of damage to Onexia! Behind the counter in front of the store, the Black Iron Dwarf Thrum Deep Furnace was foaming at the mouth and boasting to the customers. It's not exactly a boast, though, because that's exactly what it is.
Standing opposite Thrum were two humans dressed as mercenaries, most of his customers were such people, even after expansion and renovation, the Deep Furnace Workshop had not won a large order for the size of the Stormwind Legion, a big business that only the Copperbeard Dwarves had such a big appetite.
The two mercenaries looked very picky, and even though Serrum's throat was dry, they didn't pull out their money bags, but tossed and turned among the pile of one-handed swords that the dwarves had brought out, and they didn't make up their minds. Diego decided to show his face and prop up the table for Serrum.
"Hey, Thrum!" He walked up from behind the two mercenaries, "Is business okay?" β
"Hey, man," Thrum squinted at him, the light coming through the tortoiseshell window didn't make him recognize who it was at first glance, he subconsciously thought it was one of his old patrons, but the next glance, he exclaimed in surprise, "Look, who do I see?" Kazgros is on top, I'm definitely dazzled! β
"You're not dazzled, Thurm, it's me, Diego Asnar, I've come to visit my old friend!" Diego laughed as he pulled a large bottle out of his bag and placed it on the counter, "Look at this, do you like it?"
It was a bottle of Fort Watch, which Diego had picked up from Commander Waynes when he left.
Serrum pulled the oak cork and sniffed it gently, his eyes lit up.
"Fort Watch? That's good stuff! He looked up and looked at Diego in surprise, "You've been to that ghost place in the Cursed Lands?" β
"Been there some time ago." Diego said casually, "You're right, that's a hell of a place!" β
"Boss? Boss? Bossβ" Just as the two of them were chatting happily, the customer who was left out shouted dissatisfied.
"Stop screaming, I hear you! Don't you see my friend coming? Serum muttered unhappily, "Keep your eyes open and lo and behold, this is the legendary dragon-slaying hero, Earl of Moonstream, Diego Aznar!" β
"Really?" The two mercenaries looked at Diego suspiciously, and then turned to look at the dwarf with disdain, with a "don't think about blinding people, we've seen the world" expression on their faces, and one of them said mockingly, "Come on, boss, where did you find this childcare?" It's so lame, at least you have to spend a few bucks to get a better outfit, right? β
Truth be told, Diego doesn't look like an earl on the outsideβthe dull black dragon leather armor, the unfettered burqa, and the death gaze that looks no different from a normal dwarven musket, looks like an ordinary hunter. The two patrons, who had been mingling with the vulgar circle of mercenaries, were not so keen to discern the distinctive shield scales on the dragonskin, the strange patterns that were barely visible on the rune cloth robes, and the dull golden sheen of the barrel of the Death Gaze gun because of the addition of Gasafron iron.
Diego raised an eyebrow at Serum with a smile, then spread his hands out to show that he couldn't help. After several years of traveling, Diego, who is maturing day by day, has completely lost the desire to pretend to be slapped in the face. Hope.
"Get out! You are not welcome here! Annoyed, the dwarf rolled up the deerskin on the counter and gathered all his swords, "Try your luck at the human blacksmith shop in the Old Town, you eyeless fellows can only deserve the rags there!" β
The two mercenaries who exposed the boss's "scam" were not angry, they laughed at the dwarven boss and left triumphantly. It can be seen that these are two fledgling rookies, and sooner or later one day they will learn about the reputation of the Deep Furnace Workshop from the mouths of their predecessors, and then regret it.
"Diego, it's been a long time since you've come to see me!" Seeing the figures of the two mercenaries disappear outside the store, Serum turned his head, looked at Diego, and said with emotion.
"Haven't I come? We're going to have a good drink tonight! Diego said with a smile.
"Why wait until evening?" The dwarf said with a look of surprise as he walked around from behind the counter and picked up the bottle of Watchcastle spirits, "How about going to the Golden Barrel?" This bottle isn't enough for the two of us! β
"What? It's a two-liter bottle! Diego couldn't help but exclaim, but under the dwarf's squinting and dangerous gaze, he quickly changed his words with amusement, "Well, I've heard that the badland whiskey in that tavern isn't bad!" β
Serum nodded in satisfaction, then shouted at the backyard at the top of his voice.
"Keita, I'll go out for a drink, you watch the store at home!" He looked at the sky, and then added, "Just close, no business today!" β
"Old man! It's not noon yet! There was an angry cry from the backyard, and a few seconds later, the old dwarf's daughter rushed out of the hallway like the wind, but the hall was gone, only the brass sign at the door swayed in the wind and creaked.
