Chapter 618: Equalizing Points

At the end of 2012, the most exciting event in football was the selection of the FIFA Ballon d'Or.

Although 2012 is a European Championship year, and it stands to reason that the Ballon d'Or winners will be selected from the teams that win and second up the European Championship, this year's champions Spain and runners-up Italy have not had too convincing stars to shine.

The final three-man roster for the Ballon d'Or is still Ricardo, Messi, and Ronaldo.

The media joked that the Golden Globe Awards have been monopolized by these three people. And the term of this monopoly is likely to be more than 10 years.

The end result was not too much of a surprise.

While Messi has scored 50 league goals in the past season, Barcelona have not scored anything, which has lowered his rating.

Although Real Madrid won the league with 100 points, Ronaldo's performance was not as outstanding as Messi's, and Real Madrid did not do much in the Champions League.

And Ricardo once again set a new single-season goal record in the Premier League with 44 goals, and also led the promoted team to win the double, which is a result that the whole of Europe is amazed.

So the 2012 Golden Globe winner became a natural Licardo.

Entering 2013, the first game of the QPR was the derby.

They take on Chelsea away from home.

The game at Stamford Bridge on the evening of 2 January was a hot one, with a total of 12 yellow cards and three red cards for both sides, with John Terry, Fernandinho and McCone being sent off in quick succession, and QPR had to play 10 with 9 on the road.

But in the 79th minute, QPR took the lead.

At that time, Neymar switched to the left flank, played with Ivanovic with skillful tricks, burst into the box, and in the face of the tall central defender, he chose to go down, shook the gap and passed the ball in front of goal.

Ricardo faced the goal sideways, swept the ball into the net with his left foot with a flower foot.

The belated goal crushed the Chelsea man and in the final ten minutes of the game, QPR mastered the tempo with skillful possession and did not give the Blues the slightest chance.

Youngster Eden Hazard stood out, setting up a red card for McConn, but then substitute Walker froze him.

The "battle between the two top young wingers in the Premier League", which was hyped by the media before the game, came to an end with Neymar's victory.

The victory in this derby has given confidence to the top and bottom of QPR.

In the first leg of the subsequent EFL Cup semi-finals, Simeone sent a mix of main + substitutes, and QRP defeated Aston Villa 4-1 at home, and has already entered the final with one foot.

Back in the league, in the 22nd round of the Premier League, QPR beat Tottenham Hotspur 2:0 at home.

In the 23rd round of the Premier League, QPR challenged West Ham United away, and in the first half, Neymar took the lead, and West Ham United stubbornly equalized the score in the 80th minute.

However, Ricardo stepped up to the occasion, and in the 89th minute, he sealed the win for QPR with a direct free-kick, which also gave QPR a third straight league win.

Then came the second leg of the EFL Cup semi-finals, where QPR's youth team whispered 1-0 away to Aston Villa.

Next up is QPR's appearance in the FA Cup, which is the fifth round of the FA Cup, with QPR hosting Milton Keynes Dons.

QPR, which played with all young players, fought back from 2 goals down and finally reversed the opponent 4:2 to win 6 consecutive games in all competitions.

With so many victories accumulated, the morale of the QPR is unprecedented. On the last day of January, they hosted Manchester City, who are currently third in the league.

Simeone did not seek stability in this game, and the main players who had rested for more than ten days launched a fierce battle in the front, leaving Manchester City exhausted.

In the 17th minute, Ricardo sent a through ball to Ronaldo, who broke the deadlock.

Two minutes later, Modric's pass was fed into the bottom of the net by Ricardo to give QPR a two-goal lead.

Heading into the second half, Vincent Kompany pulled a point back for City from a corner, but QPR then went into possession mode, took control of the tempo and launched a lethal counter-attack in the 77th minute, with Neymar setting up Ricardo to score to make it 3-1.

In the end, QPR won the victory as they wished, and continued to bite Manchester United in the standings with four consecutive league wins.

With Manchester United drawing with Tottenham in the 23rd round of the league, both teams are now level on points, with QPR only relegated to second place on goal difference.

From late February, the QPR schedule will become very intensive, and for a while, they will have to fight on four fronts.

Of course, the FA Cup can be waived.

However, the EFL Cup has reached the final and there is no reason to give up.

As for the league and the Champions League, there is no giving up.

So Ricardo called the players to a meeting again and reaffirmed the team's goals.

He also asked the team to grab enough points in mid and early February to not be pulled away by Manchester United.

There is no room for error in the 25th round at home to Norwich City and the 26th round against Swansea.

Because immediately after, on February 16, it will be the FA Cup; On February 20, it was the first leg of the Champions League knockout round; On 23 February, they host Manchester United; On February 26, the final of the Europa League will be ushered in. These are all hard battles, and there is no room for negligence.

QPR's luck was not bad, and their Champions League quarter-final opponent was Galatasaray from Turkey. Of the 8 second-place teams, the strength is only average.

Manchester United are more miserable, and their opponents are Real Madrid...... In other words, Manchester United will have to play Real Madrid on the road first, and then challenge QPR away.

For Manchester United, the schedule is even more unfavourable.

Ricardo is keen to see the opportunity to beat Manchester United and reach the top for the first time this season.

Of course, it all depends on the players.

On 2 February, QPR hosted Norwich City.

Norwich put on a rigid stance, with all 10 players huddled in their own penalty area except for a striker who roamed in midfield.

Although QPR has maintained possession of the ball, it is difficult to penetrate such a bus. After all, they are not Barcelona, and they are still not as good as Barcelona in terms of using possession to create holes in the opponent's defence, and then suddenly speeding up.

However, after 81 minutes of stalemate, QPR finally took advantage of a set-piece opportunity to score, it was a free-kick from Ricardo who broke through on the wing, and Modric took the penalty and found the head of Van Dijk accurately, and Van Dijk headed home a rare victory for QPR.

On 9 February, QPR travelled to Swansea.

I thought it would be a game of hand-to-hand capture, but in the opening 6th minute, Michu hit Miranda's leg with an unthreatening shot and bounced into the goal, and Courtois could only look at the ball and sigh.

QPR stepped up their attack, but in the 32nd minute, Swansea took advantage of a corner to score again.

QPR was cornered.

At times like these, there are always heroes who have to step up.

It was Licardo who set the example. In first-half stoppage time, he received a through ball from Pogba, suddenly started to shake off his markers, and a Cruyff turned near the baseline, then pushed it from a tight angle, and the ball grazed the far post and rolled into the net, and QPR pulled a point back.

In the second half, QPR didn't make any adjustments, but the players gradually picked up. In the 55th minute, Neymar switched to the left side, forced a breakthrough after stepping on a bicycle in a row, and then made a sharp stop, pushing the ball to the edge of the penalty area.

Swansea's morale plummeted, and QPR bombarded the opponent's goal.

In the 79th minute, Vardy came on as a substitute, just one minute after playing, and for the first time he touched the ball, he received Modric's through plug against offside, and shot low into the corner to overtake the score for QPR.

In the 88th minute, Modric's corner kick was taken by Gary. Cahill headed in the door of Swansea City to give QPR a 4-2 lead.

Although the process was thrilling, the final solution was good.

However, United have also won both games, and also have a goal difference of three, and currently Manchester United and QPR are tied on 66 points, with Manchester United sitting at the top of the table with a narrow margin of two goals, and QPR is second.
