Chapter 85: The Forester (2)
Teroka Forest, an outpost of Aurelia Fortress.
The morning fog swept through the forest like a tidal wave, and yet, even in the midst of such bad weather, the rangers and warriors of the Aurelia Fortress still had to go out on patrol, and they had been doing so on the land for fifteen years, day after day, year after year, holding on to their posts. For the past fifteen years, they have fought against orcs, ogres, and demons, and are familiar with these evil creatures of the Outlands.
Before the fog cleared in the morning, several of the High Elf rangers of Quel'Thalas found something terrible in the forest—a dead human corpse, apparently wounded by some blunt object, his head blooming, his bones shattered into pieces, only his body was intact, and some maggots were greedily sucking the rotten brain in the broken braincase.
"Orcs."
One of the High Elf rangers stood up after examining the corpse and spoke. He said in an almost affirmative tone, however, the other Ranger looked deeper and found that it was not just a pure blunt blow, but also a few traces of magical energy.
"It's not just orcs."
Another elven ranger stood up and said. She wore an ornate cape, and some elaborate coats of arms hung from her chest, which, judging by the various shapes, was at least a ranger captain. As she spoke, she straightened her proud breasts and looked into the distance. In the misty jungle, there seems to be some secret.
"What else but orcs?"
The male elven ranger then asked.
"I don't know, maybe it's a demon. Let's move on. ”
Captain Ranger said, walking straight ahead. She is careful and discreet. Everything in the forest could not escape her ears, and she could even hear the sound of small beetles falling from the leaves. This is a trait unique to the High Elf Ranger of Quel'Thalas, and they are proud of it.
Two minutes later, they found another body. The corpse was even more shattered than the one he had just had, and his upper body was almost gone, except for two legs and a bloody waist.
The rangers crouched down. A strange aura roamed the corpse. There were no maggots in the decaying shell, no saprophytes. Only dried and coagulated blood and broken internal organs. A faint green glow lingered in it.
"It's a demon......
The female elf ranger captain shouted. She immediately got up. Jumping away from the corpse, however, in the space of a thousandth of a second, the corpse in front of the ranger exploded.
The deafening explosion immediately attracted the attention of the surrounding elven rangers and human warriors. They turned to look and saw that the female elf captain who had just been squatting next to the corpse was splattered with disgusting corpse fluid, and in an instant, the roars of demons and hellhounds resounded around the woods.
"Fight!"
Regardless of the injuries on her body, the female elf captain gave an urgent order, and the soldiers of the patrol immediately drew their long swords in their hands.
However, it was too late, and some flaming spears flew out of the woods, stabbing several human warriors, and a large number of demon guards surrounded the forest patrol.
Armed with flaming double-edged axes and scythes, the Demon Guardian slashed at the patrol's warriors. Although several human infantry raised their shields, in the face of the demon's great power, the shields were still shattered by the burning battle axes of the demon guards, and their bodies were split in half in an instant. Screams, the sound of flesh tearing echoed over the forest......
The elven rangers jumped and ran to fight with relative agility, widening the distance between themselves and the demons, drawing their bows and shooting. In the clearing, the sound of arrows flying and shuttling sounded.
A human warrior bravely rushed at the demon, but when the sword was about to stab the demon in the chest, two hellhounds bit his ankles, and in a cry of pain, the demon guard wielded a heavy scythe and slashed his head, and the warrior's blood spurted out of the severed head like a fountain. Stained the demon's breastplate red.
The demon laughed wildly and trampled over the corpse of the human warrior, smashing the armor-covered body with one kick, and even the entire body was crushed, and the blood and internal organs were squeezed out......
The other demon guard and a hellhound chase a High Elf Ranger of Quel'Thalas. I saw the ranger running and turning around to shoot. In the early morning mist, the elven arrow pierced through the damp mist, and shot through the head of the Cerberus. The Hellhound fell to the ground without saying a word, and the flames on his body gradually extinguished. And the demon guard is reluctant to follow the elven ranger.
The Elven Ranger jumped up the tree, nimbly climbing, and then used the tree as cover to shoot an arrow at the demon guard below. The arrow struck the Demon Guard's body, but could not penetrate its armor...... The sharp arrow only shook and bounced off the demon guard's chest. The enraged demon guard roared loudly, and then slashed at the tree with an axe, trying to cut down the tree where the elf was. But it seemed to underestimate the tenacity of the old trees in the Teroka Forest, and the burning tomahawk did not cut off the trunk at once, and then the entire axe was bitten by the trunk.
The elven ranger took this opportunity to jump off the branch, a white light flashed from the air, and in the next second, the short sword in the ranger's hand pierced the back of the demon's neck, which was an extremely thin gap between the demon's armor. Dark energy erupted from the demon's body, and the demon guard fell to his knees silently, being kicked away by the ranger and falling headfirst to the ground.
But the other members of the patrol were not so lucky, the captain of the Elf Ranger was bitten by an Cerberus on the ankle, and the mad Hellhound dragged the Elf Ranger to the ground, then roared and pounced, and in desperation, the Elf drew the dagger from her waist and stabbed Cerberus in the eye. Cerberus let out a heart-rending roar, and the female elf ignored its indiscriminate roar, drew her dagger, and continued to stab Cerberus in the face. Until Cerberus's face was stabbed and slid off the female elf ranger like a pile of rotten meat......
The fierce battle continued for several minutes in the thick fog of the early morning, and one by one the patrol's fighters fell, their bodies shattered to pieces like the corpses of the human merchants they had found earlier...... Heavy losses, and finally the captain of the rangers gave the order to retreat. Of the twenty-five forest patrols, only seven rangers and one human warrior escaped the ambush in the end.
