Chapter 450: Saint Guard

Diego never imagined the High Lord's expression of sadness and disappointment when he left Tirio Fordin. For a moment, Tirio even regretted winning the war so quickly, because it meant that his little son, who had been so hard to get back, was leaving again.

He had seen too many scenes of eaglets leaving the nest that did not want to hide under the shadow of their parents' wings, so it was natural to think that Diego thought the same way, and these energetic eaglets always longed to be free and soar freely in the sky. Tirio Fording didn't know what to do now, because he had no experience in dealing with such a situation, and because of his exile, he had been absent from the upbringing of his eldest son, Tyran, and now he was missing out on his younger son again.

A thick sadness suddenly surged up from the bottom of his heart, and he couldn't help himself. Large tears dripped from his eyes and hit the backs of his rough-haired hands.

Looking at the old man who was crying bitterly, there was a moment when Diego almost changed his mind and planned to stay, but he finally used all his strength to control his impulses.

He respects this paladin with a noble personality from the bottom of his heart, but he just can't put himself in the role of the other party's son. He could see Tirio as a respectable elder, but not as a father. In his heart, there is only one father, that is, the ordinary earthling who gave birth to him and raised him, even if he crosses over, it will still be him, not someone else.

"Where are you going?" There was silence for a few moments before Tirio spoke in a hoarse voice. He looked at least ten years older.

"Back to Stormwind, as I said, I have a territory there, although it's not that big, but it's no problem to feed myself!" Diego replied.

"A nice place, although there has been some chaos over there in recent years, it is much more peaceful than the devastated plague land." Tirio nodded, somewhat reassuringly.

"I didn't choose there just to find a safe place." Diego silently said in his heart that in the next few years, Stormwind City would almost be the main force to save the calamity of Azeroth, and he would be able to play his best role there. He wasn't stupid enough to say the reason, though, and he didn't want Tirio to worry about himself all the time.

"It's alright!" He said vaguely, and then quickly shifted the subject to other aspects, "If you need help here, feel free to write to me, and I will rush back as soon as possible." In case you don't know, I have a very fast ship, the Swordfish, which is faster than any ship on the Endless Sea! ”

Tirio was finally amused by Diego's childish and couldn't help but laugh. The dull atmosphere in the room eased a lot.

"I will!" He smiled as he looked at Diego and said with some cautious tentativeness, "Maybe we should call Tyran, it's time for him to know the truth of the matter!" ”

For some time, he had not told Tyran about his relationship with Diego due to his strong opposition, and now he felt that the time was ripe.

"No, you can't do that!" Diego pressed his hand that was about to rattle the bell to summon the squire, and said hurriedly.

"Why?" Tirio asked suspiciously, and the next moment, as if he suddenly remembered something, his face suddenly became a lot more ugly, "Do you think that privately. Does being a child bring you shame? ”

"No, it's not like that," Diego quickly denied, rubbing his forehead with a bit of a headache, and organizing his words, "You also know that after all this time of fighting side by side, Tyran and I have formed a deep friendship, and I know that he has always been proud of the sincere affection between you and his mother, and I don't want to hurt him because of my existence!" ”

After saying this in one breath, Diego almost broke out in a cold sweat. Tirio pondered that it was a very real problem for him to have to consider the psychological feelings of his other son.

However, for Diego, there is a more important reason that has not been said: in the next few years, Tirio will be the leader of the Silver Dawn, commanding the Silver Northern Expedition to Northrend and conquering the Lich King. In fact, he regretted it when he told his four adventurers about it, and ended up having to ask a few of them to swear a secret for him.

"Okay, just do as you say, it's just too wronged by you!" After a long while, Tirio finished his thoughts, looked at Diego apologetically, and said, "I always hoped that the two of you could fight side by side as brothers in the future and help each other. ”

"No, not at all, in fact, I think our comradeship is stronger and more indestructible than brotherhood, you know, we are not brothers who grew up together, but we are comrades who once fought side by side!" Diego said quickly.

"Well, in that case, then I have to do something to compensate you!" Tirio patted Diego on the shoulder and said firmly.

Diego didn't insist on refusing anymore, as long as he didn't reveal his identity to Tyran, and as for what Tirio was going to do, let him go. Truth be told, though, the compensation that Tirio gave him still scared him away.

Because at the meeting the next day, Tirio announced that he would send a company of 100 men from the Lark Legion to escort Diego south, and this company would stay with Diego in the future as his guard, and would not return to the Lark Legion's sequence.

He had apparently communicated with Tyran about this decision, and the latter had shown no surprise or displeasure at the meeting, and everyone in attendance, from High Priest Madonelle, Itrig, Norman Sr., and Furstad Brutehammer, to the Legion Commanders, believed that Diego, who had made a significant contribution to the Scourge Legion's victory, deserved the treatment. Had it not been for Diego's resolute opposition, they would have even planned to add a mixed company of dwarves, orcs, minotaurs, and forsaken to his guard.

In fact, the Lark Legion should technically be considered the lord's private army of the Hearthvale, and while Tirio didn't mind placing it under the command of Silver Dawn, its ownership was still in the liege's personal domain, and giving one of its companies to others, especially a nobleman, did not violate Silver Dawn's laws.

But for the various companies of the Skylark Legion, this is almost crazy news. Because although it has not yet been confirmed by the Cathedral of Light, almost everyone in Stratholme already believes in Diego's sainthood. His guards, the Saints' Guards, no doubt! And joining this guard is simply a supreme honor for devout followers of the Holy Light!

All the company captains did their best and fought desperately. Compared with honor, compared with the record, compared with the combat power, several companies fought for almost broke their heads, but in the end, it was the Storm Whip who won this honor with an overwhelming advantage, for which Huffman did not hesitate to turn his face and lay down his old fellows!

However, for the soldiers of the other companies, the Saint Guard did not close the door to them, as the Storm Whip had not been fully staffed since the Battle of Andohar. Huffman was selecting his men almost with the most demanding eyes, and only the toughest, most fanatical, and most loyal soldiers came into his sight. But even under such harsh conditions, two hours after Storm Whip became the Saint Guard, the formation of the company of 100 people was restored, because not only the Lark Legion, but also many soldiers of the Iron Wall Legion participated in his selection, which was simply one in a hundred.

To Diego's surprise, High Priest Madonelle also equipped this company with three chaplains, you know, in the catastrophe that led to the destruction of the kingdom of Lordaeron, the Holy Light Church lost most of its members, and until now, Silver Dawn has not been able to equip each of its companies with a priest!
