At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, floods and droughts were frequent, epidemics were prevalent, the imperial court was corrupt, arrogant and strong, and the peasants were displaced and miserable. Zhang Jiao adapted to the situation and used Taiping Taoism to call on his followers to rise up against the rule of the Han Dynasty, which is the famous "Yellow Turban Uprising" in history. After the failure of the uprising, Taiping Dao basically disappeared.

The founder of Wudou Midao is Zhang Xiu.

The Wudou Mi Sect was later destroyed by Zhang Lu, the third generation of Heavenly Master Dao, and can be said to be the predecessor of Chinese Taoism, which formed a religious organization with religion as the link, and later became orthodox Taoism.

These two sects are based on the theory of Huang Lao's Taoist thought, inherit the immortal magic since the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, and evolve into sects.

However, although they have strong religious overtones, they have not yet formed into Taoism, so they can only be said to be the predecessors of Taoism.
