Chapter 330: The All-Star Lineup of 2018

Back on January 19, the 2018 All-Star starters were released. The Eastern Conference starters were Li Ming, Antetokounmpo, Irving, DeRozan and Embiid, and the Western starters were Curry, Durant, Cousins, Anthony Davis and Harden.

In the fan voting session, Li Ming became the king of votes with 2638294 votes. This is the first time that Li Ming has been crowned the All-Star vote king, becoming the second player in NB history to be voted the vote king in his rookie season, the first is naturally Yao Ming, and James is in second place with 2171284 votes. If not, Li Ming, this will be James' fifth All-Star vote king, becoming the second-most voted player in NB history, second only to Jordan, and the "Flyer" has been the All-Star vote king 9 times.

James was the top voter in the 2017 All-Star vote, becoming the first player to win back-to-back All-Star votes since Yao Ming in 2006.

Curry got 2379494 votes and was the No. 1 player in the West. According to the grouping rules of this All-Star, Li Ming and Curry became captains and were responsible for selecting people to form a team to compete among the players selected for the All-Star.

In the fan voting session, Spurs veteran Ginobili ranked 6th in the league with 1808860 votes, second only to Curry among Western backcourt players. If the All-Star starters were selected before 2017, the Western All-Star backcourt starters would have consisted of Curry and Ginobili, but after the introduction of the new rules in 2017, fan voting is no longer the only factor in determining the starters.

The current All-Star Starter selection rule is that fans, players and media are selected together, with 50 fan votes and 25 each for players and media. The specific calculation method is: fan vote ranking 2 player voting ranking 1 media voting ranking 14, and the value is the final ranking. Taking Curry's votes this time as an example, Curry was the first in the Western backcourt fans and players voted, and the media voted second, and his All-Star voting score was: 1211214125, ranking first in the Western backcourt.

Ginobili was second in the Western Conference backcourt in the fan poll, but eighth and seventh in the player and media votes, respectively, with an All-Star vote of 475. Harden came in third in the Western backcourt in the fan vote, second and first in the player and media votes, and had a final score of 225, second only to Curry in the Western backcourt, so he teamed up with Curry to start.

In the Western frontcourt, the highest voting score is Durant, who ranks first in the Western frontcourt in the fans, players, and media votes, and the final score is 1. Anthony Davis and Cousins are second and third in the Western Conference frontcourt with 25 and 375 points, respectively, and start alongside Durant.

Li Ming, who has the highest frontcourt score in the East, is the first in the Eastern frontcourt in the fan and media votes, and the player vote is the second, with a score of 125. Antetokounmpo ranked second in the Eastern Conference frontcourt in the fan vote, and the players and media voted first in the Eastern Conference frontcourt, and the media voted tied with Li Ming with a score of 15. Embiid has a score of 325 and starts alongside James and Antetokounmpo.

In the battle for the Eastern backcourt vote, Irving ranked first with fans, players and media votes, with a score of 1, leading the Eastern backcourt players, and DeRozan was second in the Eastern backcourt with a score of 2.

On January 24, the 2018 All-Star bench was announced, with Wall, Porzingis, Lowry, Love, Beal, Horford and Oladipo in the East, and Wei Shao, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, Towns, Butler, Lillard and Aldridge in the West. The All-Star bench is voted by coaches, with Porzingis, Beal and Oladipo in the East being selected as All-Stars for the first time in their NB careers, and Towns in the West having their first All-Star journey in their NB career.

The Warriors once again became the biggest winner of the All-Star, in the 2017 All-Star, the Warriors were Curry, Durant, Thompson and Green were selected together, this All-Star selection, Curry and Durant became the starters, and Thompson and Green entered the All-Star bench, and the Warriors became the first team in NB history to have 4 players enter the All-Star for two consecutive years. The Warriors' No. 1 record in the league has earned their players the favor in the race for an All-Star spot.

The Timberwolves, who achieved a surprise turnaround in their record, also raised their eyebrows in this All-Star competition, and Towns and Butler were selected together, which is a commendation for the fourth place in the West. The last time the Timberwolves had two players named to an All-Star was in the 200304 season, when Garnett and Cassel were both All-Stars.

The Rockets, who are second in the West, were snubbed this time, and although Harden was voted to be the starter, except for Harden, the other players of the Rockets did not participate in this All-Star. Paul is the president of the players' union and the main promoter of this All-Star reform, but due to the more injuries this season and the fierce competition in the Western backcourt, Paul fell off the All-Star list for the second year in a row.

The Thunder's Big Three was also the only one selected this time, with Wei Shao on the All-Star bench and Anthony and Paul George not selected. Due to the slow pace of the lineup, the Thunder only began to gradually enter the rhythm in December, which made Anthony and George lack "impression points" in the All-Star selection. Also affected by the record is Drummond, "Zhuang Shen" averaged 147 points, 153 rebounds, 39 assists and 13 blocks per game this season, is the league's leading rebounder, but the Pistons have started high and low this season, they finished second in the East at the end of the game in November, but in December and January with a record of 8-18, falling out of the top eight in the East, which made Drummond lose the All-Star seat race.

The 2018 All-Star Weekend was held in Los Angeles, and the City of Angels had two NB teams, but neither All-Star team made the selection. Griffin has injury problems, Jordan Jr. is in the middle of the pack, and Louis Williams is more regretful, he averaged a career-high 232 points per game this season and is the offensive pillar of the Clippers, but the Clippers' record is always hovering on the edge of eighth in the West, and although Williams has created surprises, he has been ignored in the All-Star selection.

George failed to make the All-Star break, and Oladipo, who swapped clubs with George in the offseason, had the best season of his career, averaging 241 points per game, a new NB career high, and leading the Pacers, who were underestimated before the start of the season, to sixth place in the East. Oladipo and Williams have also been surprise makers this season, and the better team record has earned Oladipo an All-Star honor.

So far, all the All-Stars in 2018 have been settled, and there are naturally surprises, but the biggest surprise naturally comes from Li Ming.

His becoming an All-Star ticket king is something that no one expected!
